Guys - I'm going to throw my 2cents in.
I had similar problem with my 98 GSX, blew balance shaft bearings.
I did some pretty good research on crank walk. And that is really the debate between 6 and 7 bolt blocks.
Here's what I found out - nobody really knows what causes it. I talked to speed shops across the country - ones that build racers too. The 98 and above 7 bolt is better because they changed the design of the thrust bearings. I also got a lot of negative feedback about the ACT clutches especially the older ones in relation to crank walk.
Check my specs on my car. I did the wiseco pistons +20 and eagle rods and crank, used a centerforce dual friction clutch, new oil pump assembly, stock head ported, 1g intake extrude hone. Had a machine shop hot tank, deck, clean, bore and assembly the engine.
I have the Super 16G turbo rebuilt to an 18G.
I love my set up!!!!
