I dont even know which block i have? I know i sound dumb but i have no idea. i have a 1998 mitsubishi with 420a DOHC N/A. Do I have a long block or short block?

ROFL Ahh thats funny.

A short block is a motor that only consists of the block, the internals(pistons, rods, crank), and external parts(water pump, front case, etc.). It has no cylinder head included.

A long block is essentially an entire motor(shortblock+complete cylinder head) and comes without the intake and exhaust manifold.

Short block is just the bottom end.
Long block includes the head and sometimes intake/exhaust manifolds.

If you are taking the motor out of your running car you then have a long block.
