Anchorage, fairbanks?? I guess too start and then once there maybe start looking into other places maybe. How is it where you are from, how far is it from those two places? I really don't know I lot about anything over there. Any info at all will be great what are your thoughts.thanks for any info

I'm on an island in the southeast panhandle far far away from Anchorage. Its actually closer to Seattle than Anchorage. So the weather is more comparable to Seattle and maybe just a few degree's cooler on average and more rain.

ok thanks too both of you that info,Yeah I love the cold. The wife thinks its cold there all year round, women. If any one has any other info on the other stuff I asked about, rent? or work? thanks for any other info. thanks later:thumb:

hey anyone can help me out want too move too Alaska. Couple questions thanks.

My wife does not think Alaska has seasons there. I keep telling her they do.Can anyone give me average temps for spring???? summer???? fall????? winter??????

I drive a propane truck anyone know average pay for a cdl truck driver???

What is the average rent around anyone there??

I heard you don't have too pay state and federal taxes there true or false???

I heard they Alaska pays you too live there true or false??? if so how much??

thanks for any help maybe a web site or any other info thanks name is Jeff I want too move there so bad.

Ok I'm going to answer these in the same order you asked, hopefully it doesn't get confusing.

We most definitely have seasons! When it is summer here it is going down.
The timing is just different we have an extra long winter.

Average pay for a CDL truck driver, I have no idea. Can probably google that one.But I'm sure it is decent because commercial trucking is a pretty big deal up here.

Rent in Anchorage is normally pretty high, looking at 800+ for a decent 2 bed room apartment.I rent a 3 bedroom duplex and paying 1400 a month right now.

I'm not sure about the taxes.

The state does give out a PFD to all residents who sign up for it.After living here for two years. The amount varies every year, last year was 3200 this year was 1300.You would be surprised how many people "forget" to sing up!ROFL

And you don't have to be born here or in the military to be end up here!
I'm from Texas and I just kind of ended up here in AK.:shhh:

I'm from Anchorage and am probably one of the four people who have been tuning DSM's in Alaska for over 8 years successfuly (who current still own a DSM and continue to tune). Many people have had them, ruin them, then get rid of them. Or some of the people own them, have them modded, but never drive them.

My current car is a mid 11 second car that is currently transmission limited. I need another shep tranny before I take this car any further.

I may be down to meet up.

That's where i'll be taking my car once i get the rest of my part's mainly the turbo.

If you want to be a true DSM'r start working on your car in your garage. Learn the car and get good at working on it yourself, or else the DSM life is going to be an even more costly one to you than it already will be. Working on these cars is very easy.

If you need help, I'm available when I'm not up on the slope.

Unfortunately my garage has my 80 Z/28 Camaro project occupying my garage space which I've owned it since 94 only have had the Eclipse since 5/5/07 but i have a stockpile of parts for my Eclipse & need to install & no garage so it sucks so normally it goes to the shop but I've never been to Underground Performance & that's where i think i will taking it to put on all these parts i have in my living room.Maybe i won't be so lazy & get the Camaro back the road & work on the Eclipse in the garage but knowing me it probably won't happen anytime soon & i need to get my Eclipse back on the road the sooner the better.

Well tried to set an appointment up at Underground Performance to get the Eclipse GS-T work done & they have so much going on with other cars in the shop he told me to call back in two weeks so I'll be calling them on the 25th to set something up to get it back on the road damn i can't wait but don't have a no choice so i guess i will.

THIS SUCKS but I'll wait i had to wait for my SBR order for longer than a month to get so I'll wait for this also what else is new.

I'm in anchorage for probably the rest of my life. And I own an eclipse that I'll have for the rest of my life. I got a hint to register on here and so I did. Nice to see others from anchorage on here on the dsm scene. I got a ton of 2g 7bolt parts that I need to offload you can hopefully see them on Akmotorsports soon as I find out to load pics. Late
