Where to Get Lifters Replaced

if you have a extra hour or so you could always pull the cams out?

Sure. But he has the tool now that makes lifter replacement about as easy as having the cams out in the first place. And he won't risk having a timing issue (unless he cranks the motor CCW). If I did it again, though, I'd pull the cams just so I'd know more about the car.

I'll be replacing the lifters this coming weekend. One more question guys. Are the lifters the same height? I want to know if I have to be adjust the lash clearance.

Thanks

They are all identical but will adjust themselves when installed (that's why they're called lash adjusters). You have to prime and then drain the lifters. They extend on their own (spring-loaded) but are nearly impossible to compress with your fingers unless they've been drained. Check out the tech article. You have the tool, so this should be easier than doing it with prybars like I did in the tech article. But much of the article still applies. Just make sure you've primed and fully drained the lifters and don't turn the motor over CCW (you will have to crank the motor over manually to get the cam lobes out of the way of the lash adjusters to swap them out, and you have to turn it clockwise only or the timing belt can jump a tooth).
