where do you guys get tcu repaired or replaced

I bought a tcu for my 93 awd tsi auto off car-parts.com and it went out in 2 weeks. Is there somewhere to get something reliable or repaired? I am currentky making do with a n/t unit and would like my shift points back

Not sure at first glance it looked like nothing wrong to me. Only thing i know for sure is this computer doesnt read the gear selection. When plugged into the expensive snap on tool it only reads low and reverse when selecting through gears. All others are saying park/neutral. With the non turbo ecu it reads all gears and shifts. I know nothing about messing with computer boards. To me the big cap looks like it may have leaked a bit, but not like everyone else talks about. Im willing to pay someone to fix the darn thing. Not trying to spend 500 plus on another one. This was a 65 dollar one and it lasted 2 weeks.

I would contact ECMTuning/DSMlink, I know they rebuild and repair ECMs, may very well be able to fix that as well, it does look to me like your board might have a little damage, though I'm no expert.

Did that.. they only do ecu... someones got to do this kinda thing. Its a dd or Id shift box it.

If you do a shift box you wont... but i use mine daily and dont want to manumatic it. I wilk throw a switch for manumatic in once tcu is squared away

Any way to test it? Can you tell by my pic above where issue is? Im down to let you try.

I have a manual so I can't test it. The board itself doesn't appear to look bad but you can have old dried up caps and they will look normal. About 85% of the jobs I work on are because of dead leaky or dried up caps. I can test the caps once I desolder them and if they aren't it I can diagnose it more but I'm not and expert on the tcu's just letting you know. But electronics are all the same no matter what type it is
