Where to get a Solenoid Valve for switchable boost control?

Hello Everyone,

I am currently waiting for my boost gauge to come in, so I thought I would start assembling my switchable boost control setup, as per one of the articles in the Tech Guide section. I have everything I need, except the MBC (which is also on order) and a solenoid valve to hook up to my flipper switch.

Now, I understand I could have used the Stock BCS, but the previous owner tossed that one.

Can anyone tell me where I can pick up a solenoid valve that would work for me? or what part I could order?

Don't worry, I am not going to hook anything up until I get the boost gauge in and properly working, I just want to put it together and get the switch working

The FPS is on the firewall on the driver's side. You don't really need it, since it only helps with starts in cold weather. If you unplug it though, you'll get a CEL. I couldn't find a second FPS at any auto store, and I didn't want to be bothered by a CEL all the time. If you have the part number you could probably pick one up at a dealership. The plastic clip on mine snapped so I couldn't do that. I gave up and bought the switchable boost kit from Dejon. They use a solenoid and solenoid valve instead of an actual car part.

I also got a light-up LED rocker switch from VIP auto, which had an extra ground from the switch from Dejon. I don't know shit about electrical problems so it took me forever to figure that out. I had the switch connected to the positive from the cigarette lighter, and then ran a wire from the switch from the solenoid, and I had the solenoid grounded. It seriously took me like 10 minutes to figure out that I had to connect the ground from the switch to the ground on the lighter jack. I'm such an idiot when it comes to wiring.

Nope, has anyone ever tried just connecting the two wires together, it may be enough to fool the ecu. Or you may also be able to plug in another random solenoid from another car like the stock bcs solenoid.

That's what I was going to do but there weren't any junkyards around my area. I didn't have much of a choice.

The ebay industrial section has hundreds of pnuematic solenoid valves. 12v is hard to find but I've heard (not tried) that 24v valves will work on a 12v automotive system. I found and bought several 12v valves from ebay for about $6 each that I have uesed successfully in my two stage system. If you really want to get creative, get an electronic pressure switch, also available all the time on ebay.

If you give up looking for the right one, you can get solenoid valves from McMaster-Carr. About $30 the last time I bought one from them.

Next time I'm out at my car I'll see if I can get a manufacturer/part number from the solenoid from the dejon kit. Although, it does just seem easier to get a stock BCS of FPS from a junkyard if you're not going to be buying a pre-made kit.

Edit: I know that DSMLink can tell the ECU to ignore certain CEL's. I'm going to be buying Link pretty soon, and I was wondering if anyone knew if the missing BCS or FPS is a code that Link can override? If it is, it seems like people with link could be selling their old solenoids pretty easily, or just using them for this type of switchable setup.

The FP Solenoid is on the car to address hot starts not cold weather starts.
