Where is the tapping noise coming from?

Ok here we go. Just put my car back togher with some help of some friends(bad idea). We replaced the 2nd gear synco and put a atc cluch in. Did this on a Friday night didn't get done till 5 am on Saturday. So any way went to afriends house for the weekend. When I was on my way home Sunday night my car was tapping really bad lost power the exhaust manifold was cherry red. I found out that my boot going on to my turbo was loose and it was sucking air causing my car to run lean. So I checked some things out. I thought I jumped timing and bent a valve, checked timing last night, timing is good. Did a compression test number 1 cylander was 130 and 2 through 4 were between 150 and 160. Anyone have any ideas where my noise is coming from?

Well i found it, it was a rod bearing.

That is what I was going to say. Cylinder number 1 is known for going bad in 1g motors.

Yea and that one that went. It sucks just got her back togher and it ran for two days

Did you do a new rebuild or something? Did you plasti-gage all of the bearings to make sure they were within specs?

Yea when i rebuilt it last fall.
