and bada bing I'm done...on to performance

imagine that and tell me if it sounds rice please

n/t is of course non turbo and by green paint i believe he is referring to the color alot of primered body kits are..(neon green)..but yes if you do get it.paint it..i wasn't trying to flame u for the kit, just stating that i like stock better, but like i said it's your car do what you'd like goodluck

thanks dave I think I will be doing that today...anyone got those black out halo lights?
I would love to see a pic of them on a car

i just popped my old lights off with a prybar between the frame and headlight. makes a 10 minute pain in the ass job into a 1 minute fun break stuff session. besides, why use 4 bolts when 3 will suffice just fine, and make it a million times easier when you ever need to remove the headlights ever again.

as for black halos......

nice...I pulled the bumper today, saw the headlight bolt..honestly I have no clue how some of you guys used an extender and swivel head and got to that thing...in my case it wasn't possible. anyways, I test fit the blitz front bumper and it seemed to line up fine, except I have the 2ga headlights so I just ordered some 2gb black halo projectors...hopefully when I get those the bumper will go on completely since it was getting stopped by the headlights on the front.

sigh...now I gotta figure out whether I want to keep my stock talon rear end, or convert to the eclipse lights, and put on the back blitz bumper....

anyone think my car would look jacked up with a blitz front bumper and stock rear bumper and side skirts? I don't wanna look half assed or w/e

also any help on how to make rear bumper "L brackets" to mount the lights..i've been searching but still haven't found any useful info...i'll keep looking tho
peace

Honestly people will probably flame me for this but I thought it worked and it was easiest, when you get to the last bolt, grab the headlight from the back and just yank as hard as you can until it snaps, only way I could get it off and you don't even need that bolt anyways.

I did this as well. Headlight sits still just fine with the remaining functional bolts.

No, he's talking about the green fast & the furious paint scheme.

I've looked at (I think) every relevent thread on how to get the bumper and headlights out, but I still can't get near that last bolt securing the headlights between the headlight assembly and the bumper. I can't get enough space to wedge a socket wrench in (even with a long extension and swivel joint) to remove that damn bolt. Am I going at this wrong? Any tips or tricks would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Take the bumper off first, then take the headlights out.

If you go under the car and look at how the bumper and bumper support are held onto the car you'll find two rails attached to the bumper support that slide into the body of the car and are secured by two decent sized bolts (two on each side if I remember correctly). Just unbolt the bumper for there and everything will just slide off the front end of the car, front bumper and support at once (well assuming the bumper isn't still attached to the car anywhere else). Then you can get to that bolt for the headlight. :)

...and if you ever plan on removing the headlights later and don't want to have to remove the bumper again, don't put that bottom bolt back into the headlights.

if i remember correctly their are a few plastic screws holding the bumper on that are actually under the headlight.

Here's how I've done it the 2 times I had to -- Remove all the other headlight bolts, then use a rag or a shirt to place on the bumper, grab 12" or more worth of socket extensions, if you have a socket extension with one of those things that allows the socket to swivel thats a big plus, stick the rag on the bumper to protect it then pull the headlight up a bit and jam the socket in their toward the bolt, once you get it pull it off.

I wouldn't recommend this, its been known to cause the headlights to "hop" and move around when hitting reasonable sized bumps in the road. There is a tech article that tells of some trick to easily remove that bottom bolt time after time.

Also, if your hands are nimble enough, you can remove it without taking the front bumper off. Get a ratchet with a 3" or longer extension with a 10mm socket on the end. Locate the bolt, and with ratchet in hand, reach your arms up under the front bumper cover, and ratchet away. I was able to do this, but it is tough getting them back in. It also may not work with the 97-99 bumpers due to the difference in designs. Hope this helps. :dsm:

I cut the whole lower mounting tab off my headlight, what a PITA. Their are like 4 other bolts holding the headlight down. I have been removing my bumper a lot lately so I left only one bolt securing the headlights, if I hit a large bump they will jiggle, but it takes a pretty good size bump.

What I did because I didn't care about my 95 bumper was remove all the bolts holding it on besides the ones you can't see under the headlights and pulled it off, breaking the tabs in the process. When I put on the 97 bumper I just didn't use those tabs at all, the 5 across the center and 2 on each side are more than sufficient for holding the bumper cover on.

Same here, I actually only have one bolt in the sides tho ;)

does anyone here know how to remove the passanger head light on a 97 eclipse? i got 3 bolts off but the head light still isnt coming out? someone help me....

thanks,

kevin

yeah i have had mine out, the passenger side is alot easier than the drivers, anyways, take out the 2 on the backside, then there is 1 up top, then take the one out that is hidden (you need a swivel head adapter for the ratchet, i used a 3/8" drive, 1/4" would work better, its so far down that there is no way you are going to get on it, thats why you need a swivel head (once that bolt is out, there is a slim chance that you are going to want to spend the time getting it back in there,) i just fastened mine down from the backside and that keeps them in there and looking fine.... basically you need the headlight out to get the bumper off, and you need the bumper off to get the headlight out, with enough patience and the right tools, it really isnt that hard... any more questions, just ask

Yep, I removed my bumper too when I replaced mine. It's not that bad really. Pretty much you have to:
1. Take mudguards off
2. Remove bolts holding bumper to fenders.
3. Take out the big bolts connecting the bumper to the subframe
4. Slide bumper out and take headlights off

That's about it. If you don't take the bumper off, you would have to break the bottom mounts and then the headlights won't fit right.

good luck :thumb:

damn.... my bumper is a bi*** to get off cuz it has different screws cuz the stock ones got stripped....

Must be a gsx/gst thing then.. cause i removed my headlight with out removing the bumper.. i thought there was like 2 or 3 bolts holding it in.. really simple. but i also have a 95 RS.. so mine could be different..

Nope, I'm willing to bet that the previous owner took it out and broke the bottom bracket off because your headlights are the same as ours.
