Just installed a new radio in my 420A and it has the iPod and AUX inputs on cables coming off the back, looking for neat and clean ideas on where you guys have run yours.

:thumb:

I run mine into the glove box; out of sight, out of mind.

On my old Celica I ran the wires through the center console and drilled a hole in the arm rest compartment for the wire to come through. I drilled the hole just big enough for the plug to fit through and then took a gromet and cut one side of it to go over the wire and in the hole, this way it keeps the plug from falling back into the hole.

Outside of an iPod what other uses could I have for an AUX inputer. My radio actually comes with an iPod input and AUX, I guess if you use the iPod input it charges the iPod as well as let's you use it, so I am not sure if I should run both wires or not.

I ran it to the center console. Keeps it hidden from prying eyes, and easy for me to access while driving.

i have mine running out of the passenger side kick panel, hides very neatly between the center console and passenger seat.

double post dont kill me buttttt

the ipod input (usb i assume?) will charge it but will only allow you to use the head unit to control the selection unless your head unit has ipod userface control, otherwise i find it easier to just use an AUX cable and charge it when needed.

This radio supposedly has iPod interface controls.

Then just run the usb cord into the glovebox, thats what I did. Having the iPod control on the head unit is really nice, I bought mine when that feature first came out.

I have a pioneer headunit that has ipod interface controls so I just wired it to the center counsel where I can take it out and put it in easily but it looks super clean. That's the way I'd do it if you want the cleanest install. With those controls you don't even need to look at you ipod to select music, it's like have a hard drive directly in your radio

I should change my statement. If you use a dedicated iPod for the vehicle that won't come out much then the glove box is excellent. If you are hooking up say your iPhone I would possibly run it under the center console and then through either the arm rest compartment or the ash tray.

We ran the wire under the center console and up through the ashtray insert. The wire coils and tucks perfectly into the ashtray when not in use.

Made a small hole in the back of the under radio try and ran it through there. All you see is the end point unless I pull it out to connect it.

This is exactly what I did on my car and every other car I've installed a head unit in with iPod USB interface (other than ones with a double din unit or single din opening). I figure I might as well use that shelf for something and it makes it easy to plug it in and just grab it when you leave. It also doesn't require you to run wires anywhere.

I run my AUX cable, usb cable (ipod control or phone charger), and tactrix usb cable through the center console thru my cigarette ashtray. i wrap the cables up underneath the ashtray older and pull it out when I need to. not in use, i just flip the door down :thumb:

I'm on board with the other people who have run theirs through the console and into the little center console/behind the rear cup holder. Works great there, can't see and is easy to get at if I need to.

Glove box so I can lock it.
