where do i buy a boost leak tester

alright ive seen there is a way to build one but tbh im bad with that kinda stuff i would rather just buy one. so is there somewhere i can buy one from?

Yeaah deff make your own,will save money and time.... Home Depot sells these testers LOL) All you need is a PVC cap,blow nozzle,coupler,hose clamps (i will deff recommend t-bolt clamps) drill bit (the size of a blow nozzle) and some epoxy glue

Drill the hole at the top of the PVC cap
Place the blow nozzle into the hole
Add epoxy glue all around the blow nozzle from inside and outside of pvc cap.Don't be afraid to add a good amount of epoxy glue
Let it sit for a good 5 hrs for the glue to dry completely

And here you go..... :thumb:
 
I made one for uber cheap. I took a plastic cup that fit tight on the turbo inlet and then drilled a hole in the bottom of the cup to fit a steel tire valve. Tire valve was $2 from the local VatoZone and the cup was for free from the cubbard. Used the clamp that attached the filter to the turbo to hold the cup on the turbo.
 
I built mine... 3" Silicone cupler I already had for my turbo (Oriley Auto Parts), a 3" PVC Pipe Test Cap (Menards), 1/2" Drill bit of some sort that goes through plastic, Tire Valve Stem (Oriley's). Assemble the Test cap, valve stem in the test cap, and cupler, put it in the input of your turbo from your air cleaner, and fill her up! Put as much psi as you would be running for boost. Your boost gauge works well to watch your pressure, I pulled my gauge out and hooked it up under my hood to make things easier.

If your getting leaking but can't tell where its coming from, a spray bottle with a mixture of dish soap and water helps to create bubbles around leaks.
 
Make your own from hardware store plumbing.

You just need a rubber coupler that will fit around the inlet of your compressor. Then, cap off the other end and install a schrader valve in the cap. And you have a boost leak tester that costed less than $10 to make.

Yep! That 3" one looks a lot like mine, only mines blue silicone instead of rubber, but as long as it seals :)
 
You may also want to use t-bolt clamps instead of those worm clamps. I can never get the worm clamps tight enough to hold 25psi without popping off.

Mine consists of a 2" pvc end cap inside a 2"-2.5" reducing coupler. I have an air compressor fitting on the pvc cap and just hook the air hose directly to that, with a regulator inline of course.

I think mine cost me $10.

It would be easy to add one. Just use an 1/8" NPT gauge like the one on your AFPR, and thread it into the cap next to the schrader valve.

But me personally, I just use the gauge on my air compressor, so no need to read it at the BLT.

I'd hate to ruin your day by saying this but if your so simple minded that you can't build one of these then i woulndn't be testing it by myself in the first place. I think more skill is required to take off the intake then to build one on these IMO.

i know how to take it off though..i have bad luck so knowing me ill ###### end up finding out i have a leak and look everywhere and its my tester i built X.X like today decited to change breaks on my car..somehow dented my gas tank, broke! a rotor.. and ruined a brand new pair of pads...but good news as i got it all done and it stoped me!

How did you do this? Were you jacking the car up by the gas tank?

My guess is the car fell of a jack b/c it was not on jack stands.
 
uhm no so i didnt know that my floor jack slowly lowers so i had it up with my 2 jack stands up frunt and i had to run iinto town so i did and came back and it lowerd onto the jack and dented it a little was slow might have just dented the little shield over it im not too sure
 
So what you are saying is that you had the front in the air on the stands and had the rear in the air on the jack? If that is the case you should of only lifted one end at a time. Never ever trust a jack to support a vehicle. All jacks will eventually lose internal pressure and come down.

I have two sets of jack stands I do not like my small ones when the entire car is off the ground they seem unstable to me. I like my big ones (with 12" base not the 6" base of my small ones) when I have all 4 tires off the ground.
 
For those of you interested, i ended up buying the 3" from Z1 motorsports.

It seems to be decent quality, although i haven't checked the accuracy of the gauge.
