MY FP 68HTA Made 350 All Wheel HP on 18 lbs of boost. It just aint enough for me.

Ive searched websites and AMS Does not sell it anymore so anyone know some hidden site i have not seen that sells the WHOLE KIT? Thanks

Um, OK.

Nobody sells "kits" to adapt expensive ball-bearing turbos to 12-21 year-old cars anymore; you're going to be on your own on this one.

How about looking at the FP 3582R....bolts to the stock manifold flange and requires a few goodies that they also sell on their site to get up and running.

Why don't you work on maxing the potential of the turbo you already have instead of buying a new one and half-using it?

I did, AMS Said that they were turning the boost up but it wasnt making enough power. Only thing they recommended was porting the wastegate, upgrading to E85 ($1500 swap) and making ~420 WHP, or upgrading the turbo.

Here is link to Dyno Run:

I think AMS was blowing smoke up your ass when they said switching to e85 would cost 1500$...You have dsmlink, a wally, and a AFPR..All you should need in large injectors, and then to tune it..I see maybe 400$ tops there, not 1500$..

What size injectors are you running ? Is it that you're running stock injectors and they're not able to provide more fuel to take advantage of more boost from your hta68 ?

Going e85 shouldn't really be $1500 either; you've got link and a 255lph. All you need are bigger injectors and a tune.

edit: ^^^ agh beaten, haha.

yeah they are probably raping me on labor. I dont do the mechanical work on it since I work so much

You won't spend $1500 to switch to E85 (which is retardedly overpriced, I don't know where you're looking at parts) but you want to run a 35R? There's also meth injection..

Consequently, you don't list your injectors in your profile.

What the hell is that going to do? You want more air to pass through the turbine housing if you're wanting to run more boost....not bypass it.

If anything, porting the wastegate is going to make it more difficult for the actuator to hold the flapper shut and achieve a higher boost level.

Sounds to me like they're trying to sell you shit. You obviously have enough fuel- crank up the boost, add some race fuel, and give it hell.

AMS said themselves it wont be worth going only E85 and recommended a bigger turbo. I am not looking at any parts, I simply asked how much installed with a Tune and they said around $1500

Alright, good luck. If you're just going to go to AMS and do what they say, why'd you bother coming here? Why not just drop the car off and tell them you want a 35R?

Edit: Re-read your last, $1500 to TUNE for E85 with no other changes? I know they've got a big name but GEEZUS.

I have 1050CC Injectors on the car now

If you have 1050 cc injectors, all you should need to do is tune the shit out of it..Reset the octane on dsmlink, to e85, and go to town..

EDIT..I read your last post, so basically they want 1500$ to tune your car..

What did you do to try to max the power of that turbo, a phone call doesn't count. I dont even think that 18lbs is pushing that turbo considering a E3 16G is really happy at 21lb and thats using a less efficient compressor wheel than the HTA (correct me here justin).

Secondly although we will all debate what is necessary for an E85 swap even if it is $1500 if you can get 70HP out of that your doing really well. Lots of guys spend a lot more for less hp than that. It also allows you to run E85 and maximize the potential of any other turbo if/when you decide to upgrade

Also, You don't think running a custom GT35r setup is going to cost you a lot more than $1500?

I know that getting a bigger turbo will cost more, of course. I just wanted to put this last couple thousand into the car and be done with it. Way too much money over these last couple months.

And as far as what has been done to the car, EVERYTHING has been changed Besides the exhaust manifold. And if i upgrade that to fit my FP68HTA Id rather just get the 35R with a Exhaust Mani

Well, enjoy running a 35R on 91/3 octane with no meth I guess..
The idea of E85 not being worth it, when commonly available, is foreign to me.

I'm super curious, how much did you pay them to tune it how it is now?

18psi is not even CLOSE to reaching the limit of what the 68HTA can offer you....and the billet wheel is indeed much more efficient than it's cast counterpart. Compare designs:

^ The axis where the locknut mounts is smaller, the hub area of the wheel is smaller, and the blades are longer on the 68HTA than the 20G wheel above it. All of this equals more area to grab airflow, and better efficiency.

You may as well keep the 68HTA and switch to E85. You're going to need better fuel either way you go:

- If you start upping the boost with the 68HTA it's going to start heating the air more....so you'll need E85 to prevent detonation.

- If you switch to the 35R, suddenly you've gained about 30% more airflow over the 68HTA...so you'll need E85 to prevent detonation.

See what we're trying to tell you?

$235 an hour and ending up taking one full hour. And its running ridiculously smooth. Besides the noise from the clutch and annoying motor mounts.

Well what minor things can i do to max this turbo?? If its going to cost as much as a GT35 to do it all than honestly id rather go the bigger turbo route
