If I set the cruise it stops shaking, I let off the gas it stops shaking, and I give gas it shakes? Any Ideas on where to start? I appreciate any help.

i would start with your axles check them make sure the cv boots arent torn or grease isnt leaking out, just because there not torn or leaking doesnt mean there not bad but its a good starting point. could also be something in your tranny also make sure your front end suspension is tight

I would start by pulling the tranny b/c I'd bet it's your clutch if u have a M/T b/c mine was similiar to this. goin down the road while I wa son gas it would shake and I'd hear like a grinding whistling noise. well I pulled tranny and I could shake my clutch disk and every spring it it would rattle.

Hope it helps

I agree about the axles. If it's a thump thump thump that is exact as wheel speed then look at the axles. If it's a high speed vibration that is more closely related to engine speed then perhaps clutch/pressure plate could be the culprit. I put more stock in the axles though. I see a lot of them go bad. Probably inner joints.

Good Luck

Tire/wheel balance would shake all the time. Especially when that magical harmonic was hit. Usually around 60-70 mph. Axles usually thump the worst during acceleration.

I had the exact opposite symptoms on my 1g. It was fine under load. Got the car on the lift to find that one the tie rod nuts didnt have a cotter pin in it and was about 1.5 turns from coming off!

Phew...that could of been ugly :D

I started with the KISS method, I did the shake down test for the tie rods and balljoints, well i changed the inner and outer tie rods on both sides, changed both lower control arms on the driver side cuz the boot was torn to shit, still a problem. So i jacked the car up, put it on jackstands and spun my driver side tire, turns out the axle was bent to hell, so i figured im already under here might as well check the passenger side, well the passenger side axle had some serious play so i took it to the shop, turns out i snapped a bearing off in the cv joint somehow because my rebuilder pulled it apart in front of me and that was the problem, everyone pointed me towards a misbalanced tire and an unbalanced rim and tie rods.....the whole nine yards, if the simple stuff doesn't fix it, then check them axles, an GL.

I did have this shuddering problem in my 1st gen awd. It had done it for about maybe all togethor for about 2 miles. I put the car up on a lift and looked at the rear end and nothing seemed out of place. Some people have said on other threads that carrier barrings or u-joints might be the cause of this shuttering. However, one of the carrier barrings on my driveshaft is just about shot but its been that way for a while now. Then i decided to drive it again and the problem disappeared. I changed nothing and it went away. What could have happened???

By the way Dave, this is Tyler with that black talon, one of Will's friends.
