I recently bought a 1999 :dsm: Eclipse GS-T w/ 76,000 miles on it. I have been driving it for the last week w/out any problems. I go outside to leave for work one morning and my car sounds like it is trying to start but will not. I then gave it some gas and it starts fine. This only happens when the car has been sitting for an extended period of time (5-10 hours).

What should my RPM's idle at? Should they fluctuate when the fan turns on?

I have tried to adjust the BISS. Haven't had enough time to see if that has worked...
Could the air filter be the problem? It looks very dirty!

Has anyone experianced this? Do you have a fix?

I just wanted to update the situation...

Adjusting the BISS seemed to help a little, but did not fix the problem. I ordered a new BISS, o-ring and a rubber top for it (I lost my rubber top). I should be able to install this by the weekend!

When looking at my car I noticed my air filter was extremely dirty (dirt was coming out the other side) and the plastic surrounding it was broke. I stopped by AutoZone on the way home and purchased a new one. It seems to start better. I will update you in the morning when I have given the car time to cool off.

Any comments and additional input/ideas are welcome...

My car seems to be working better...

From what I understand in the mid-west. When it starts to get warmer out, the gas stations change the type of gas they use. When it starts to get colder, they do it again.

Any one ever heard of this? So I guess it was a gas problem... The car just has to adjust.
