Have you left your valve/valve springs on the head? I am getting my head pressure tested for cracks and resurfaced. But my question is, have you (people who have taken their heads in to get resurfaced) left your valve/valve springs on the head?

yes leave it all there, they shouldnt need to remove it. you do however need to remove the intake & exhaust mani's and anyother bracket that is on the head. and if for some reason they need to remove the valves/springs they can do it themselves.

Not to mess up your parade, but why are you pressure-testing the head? DSM heads don't crack that I know of.

not sure if he is referring to a vacuum test or not. In the event he is, this is to check to see if the valves are seating/sealing like they are supposed to be.

That is what I'd assume too.

Its a good idea to get it checked for cracks too though. No use spending lots of $ for machine work if there is a lingering problem.

I've never seen a cracked dsm head, but I find it hard to believe that its impossible, or even improbable to happen. I'm not doubting you by any means, I just would like to know why this doesn't happen.

Kind or along the same note, but during machining, (I am changing the headgasket and going to make sure it is flat) should all the internals be removed, or is that unnecessary as well.
