I have a 96 eclipse GST and when I brake the whole car shakes. Any idea whats wrong? Someone told me the brakes on 95-96 eclipses were smaller then 97-99 and that might be causing it, but I dont know. And if its because the brakes are small, whats a cheap way to go to get bigger brakes? Thanks

Sounds like your rotors are warped. Most people run Evo brakes as a so call cheap upgrade but most big brake upgrades also means a minimum of a 17" rim..

you just need to get the rotors spun. take them off and take the to any shop and they will be able to fix your problem. This will happen on all cars not just your talon.

I'd say warped brakes also, I'd take it to a shop. Sometimes turning them can take the warp out, most places only charge 5 bucks a rotor to turn it.

Sounds like warped rotors but it could also but due to worn bushings as well. Last I checked all 2g GST's had the same sized calipers.

Yeah rotors are warped. Also if your steering wheel shakes, it means that its your front rotors that are warped, and if it doesnt its your back ones.. thats usually how it works..

Or better yet, since our GST rotors are so small to begin with you can do the AWD brake upgrade to larger rotors and dual pistion calipers.

Also, I recently just got done doing the AWD upgrade about 500 miles ago, and I gotta say WOW, what a difference they made. I also upgraded to ss lines at the same time and some nice ceramic pads.

NVM, Everything I needed to know was on Vfaq

You will need AWD calipers, caliper brackets, rotors. Since yours is a '95 try to find them from a 2g. But you can get 1g style calipers, you just have to change brake lines because the 1g screws into the caliper and 2g us a banjo bolt.

Hardest part is going to be the caliper brackets, the rest you can buy new from a parts store if you want to go that route.

I warped my front rotors... Coming down hill at 70 with a TON of stuff in the car when I had to slow down to 45.

My rotors are on their last turn, so Hopefully by next time I need brakes I can go for the bigger ones.
