I just got a 7 bolt motor for very cheap, it was a close buddies of mine. He did a rebuild on it about 15k ago and everything ran fine. So today i pulled the head of and i noticed piston 2 and 3 move, but not from side to side, you can like twist them and they will twist about a quarter of an inch. The compression on the motor was fine and everything ran great. Is this something i should be worried about, if so what is the problem?

Thanks

When you push on the piston it should move but it should not twist like that. Why don't you pull the oil pan and take a look at it.

that doesnt sound too great. the Pin holding the piston to the rod shouldnt let the piston twist at all, it doesnt make any sense.

alright ill check it out this friday when i get off work. It just seems really weird, the motor was running just fine before it was pulled out.

Very nice that you thought to pull the head on a "known good motor" before installing it. A head gasket is a small price to pay if it saved you the trouble of installing it and then having to pull it right back out... I probably would'a been the cheap bastard that trusted the seller and didn't check just so I wouldn't have to replace the gasket. I can't help but rebuild everything any time I set a head gasket free of it's engine.

Good save! Golf clap!
