The metal one is the intake pipe, the one from the BOV to metal intake pipe is the recirculation hose.
Everything looks fine to me what do you think is ghetto?

Thats not really that ghetto, its an intake pipe. Improved the airflow a lot over stock. In fact i have the exact same one i just installed only my couplers were blue instead of red. I'd say just clean it up and put it back in, depending on your plans of course.

looks fine to me. But if ya wanna change it up and move it around I think dejon tool has a kit that moves the maf to the charge pipe. It also upgrades it to a 4" maf out of a gm. Or you could just find a 4" gm maf intake, but that means u gotta change the whole intake. and the bov would be atmospheric on both of these ideas. hopefully this helps.

It's all about venting the BOV? Ugh.

That's a clean looking pipe, if you think it looks ghetto get a black coupler and rattle can it black and then you'll never have to look at it.

If your MAF is before the turbo, you can't go atmospheric. Doesn't matter if you have a stock or GM MAF setup.

OP- like everyone has said, that intake is fine, if you don't like the color get some new couplers in a color you like.

Take the pipe out and polish it up and replace the (IMO) ugly red couplers with a nice set of blue or black silicone couplers. After that run down to Fleet Farm or a place like that and pick up a bottle of carb cleaner, some simple green, and a firm brush. Spending an hour or two with the cleaning supplies will make your entire engine bay much cleaner and it will look much better.

Putting the heat shields back on your exhaust manifold and o2 housing will also clean up your engine bay as well as reducing under hood temps which will make your car run a little faster.

If it were my car I would try to tuck the line from the EGT probe so that it looks a little bit better but it seems safe and functional so if you don't care it isn't a big deal. My Eclipse is clean under the hood but you should see the wiring mess that I've left in my Jeep from the remote start and extra lights, it all depends on your goals for the car how much work you need to invest in tidying, and if no one is ever going to look under your hood but you then it is probably perfectly fine as is.

Other than that your setup looks decent except for some grime.

Funny how an expensive intake is ghetto, but the electrical tape on the strut bar to keep it from arcing on the battery isn't. Relocate that battery, or lose the strut bar before you run into electrical problems. Polish or powdercoat that intake pipe, and replace the couplers with black ones. There are plenty of other things to worry about in that bay. My .02

What to worry about before the "getto" intake pipe:
1. Battery arching to strut bar.
2. Radiator fan melting b/c a lack of heat shields (upper and lower)
3. Under hood temps from aforementioned lack of heat shields.
4. Oil leak from oil cap. That looks worse than the intake pipe.
...
...
...
And much farther down the list. "Getto" intake pipe.

Yep, the zip-tied battery hold down is more ghetto'd. The strut bar is a little on the fat side and I would also worry about arching. At least the PO attempted to help with the electrical tape. Agreed with the cleaner, as well. I do, however, like that Evo IX (?) BOV. :thumb: for that.

You can go from this:

to this, with just a weekend of cleaning! :thumb: :

Note* Some assembly required.

Fix what actually is ghetto instead: put on manifold heat shield, move battery to trunk, new valve cover gaskets, paint the valve cover nice (or at least wash it), rip the rest of the sticker off the top radiator hose, tidy up the extra wires and the boost gauge hose, do something with the rusty bolts holding the radiator brackets, clean everything else under the hood.
