What's this noise?

It sounds like it's coming from the left side middle-back area. Its that like scratchy mechanical noise. Anyone heard this before? It happens every startup but goes away like you heard in the video.

Pull the starter, power it and see what happens, check for it being rustic/worn.

visual inspection is your best bet, or i would find a shop with an off car tester. we had one at school but they are becoming harder to find because starters are cheap.

Alright. Could a bad starter cause my car to startup sluggish on cold days, as in cranking slowly and needing to crank more? My car does not like starting in cold weather haha

A bad starter could do that. Starters do all kinds of crazy things.

hmmm I guess i'll have to get my starter checked. Could not getting it fixed break any other parts if i wait? It still starts fine so I'm not sure if I need to drop the cash on a new starter right away.

Bring it up and ill take a look.
It could frig up your flywheel.

^ he's got a point, the teeth on the flywheel could wear down, then that 2 things, one a little more complicated than the other.

Yeah the flywheel is what I was concerned about. Next weekend I'll take it out and get it checked. Hopefully thats it. Thank you gentlemen.
