Whats the little oval gasket for?? Front Case Question?

So everywhere i look they sell the big front case gasket and the oil filter housing gasket. But i noticed topline includes gaskets with their front covers and it has a small oval shaped one. I havent seen any vendor include or sell that gasket. I am assuming it goes on the oil pump...if you look at the back (engine side) of the case you can see at the left side there on the bottom theres an oval type shape on the end of that block looking thing (which I am assuming is the pump)....so I want to know, is that oval gasket necessary on OEM cases???

It's most likely for the oil pickup tube, has 2 small holes for the bolts and one larger hole in the center. It should look like this. Keep in mind you will also need to pull the oil pan to do this, so be sure to get an oil pan gasket, as well as a turbo oil return line gasket. Also there are 3 seals inside the front case. One is the front main seal (for the crank), the oil pump shaft seal, and I believe the other is a balance shaft seal. I hope this helps.

The oil pan gaskets suck. Use Ultra Grey RTV instead, as instructed in the FSM.

Really? I never had any problems with them. The last engine I pulled apart had ultra grey RTV and no gasket, I was curious as too why. If you use the RTV, don't over-apply it, otherwise you will get some inside the motor, there was some RTV on the pickup tube on the 4g63 I pulled apart.

Does it look like the little gasket in the pic below? If that is the one you are talking about then YES that is for the oil pickup tube. Where its bolts to the oil pump itself.

Yep those would be the gasket. I will pick one up along with everything else. Another question now is if I buy the case from Extreme PSI does it come with the 3 seals or do I have to buy them separate?
