What do you guys think is the lowest price i can get for a 97 GSX with under like 200k miles or whatever. Ive seen some for low prices and more at about $11k. What do yall think?

-Alex

I am in the process of getting my 97 GSX with only 68000 miles on it, mint condition, 2 door dings and that's it, They have done the 30000 mile and 60000 mile maintenance, kept all paperwork, one-owner, a female. It is gorgeous. I am only spending 10300. It took me a little while to find this one, I feel like I am very lucky, in my neck of the woods, they are rare or if they are here they have been beaten up. Only a few nice ones. Look at my sig pic!!!!

I bought my 1997 GSX off ebay for $7000 and $500 to ship it. It had 109,xxx miles on it when i got it. I needed a 2nd car cause my 1998 kept breakin, so i bought it. Theres a 1997 GSX A/T around here with 82,xxx miles on it, the kid wants $8,000. You just have to take some time to look, thats all.

i bought my 97 GSX in june on this year from kbb.com, had only 64k on the clock, excellent codition, fluids flushed and 3k mile maintence done. had the papers to show it too. my price was only $8750. the owner said at 10,500, he wasn't getting any takers so he dropped the price thats when i saw it and i bought it the next day!

I am about to purchase a 97 Gst for 8700, with a few mods and 68k.. Not the best but its the best deal i can find and its local.

dang those are some good prices!!! My dad said he will get a guy that gose around and looks for him to look for me, But dang most ive seem get like 10k. $8 to 9k is right what i need.

I had a chance on a 96 GSX when i first started looking, leather, everything! the dealr was asking 7ish, but it was at the dealer where my dad bought his last three cars, so he figured he could get them down to 6k, the car was an auto, which was OK, but he somehow talked me out of it that night, even after a test drive. By the time i talked him back into going in and looking at it during the day, which was tomorrow, it was gone. DAMN IT!!! only 80K too. that thing was nice!

So now im driving my 91, for which I paid 4200 for, 101k miles, it seemed in excellent condition when i bought it, the guy took care of a lot before i took delivery, but now i think i got ripped off, big! :thumbdown

Do any of yall have some good used cars sites? thanks

-Alex

If you're into doing a little work, I saw a reposessed 97 GSX on ebay that was pretty beat up, but not horribly, and it was pretty cheap. It looked to me like it just needed some body work and a starter.

If you're looking for cheap... autotrader and any kind of dsm tuning sites may not be your best bets. These people know that their awd dsm is hard to find/in demand and that they can get more money then what its "worth".

Look in your newspaper/auto classifieds mags and in neighboring cities and just be on the lookout. You will run into older people who use thier gst/gsx as a DD, want a reliable honda and dont care about performance. Usually anything online involves younger people and/or enthusiast who are aware of their cars desirablilty. However these same people MAY have also babied there car w/ synthetic every 2,500 and turbo-timed shutdowns while the non-enthusiast didn't fix anything until it broke.

My friends boss sold her 97 gsx 5 speed w/ 8*,*** on the clock for around $5,200. She was moving and of course I find this out after I buy my TSi. Hell, her car didnt even sell right away. OMG

Also, as said above, auctions are your friend :thumb:

holy crap i just saw your only 15,,,,
i woulda killed myself w/ a turbo dsm at 16.

Dont wreck it and learn the limits,,
i learned having 4 people in your dsm, a hairpin curve, going twice the posted speed limit = horrible understeer into oncoming lane w/ truck bearing down.

If that GSX is anywhere near 200K, then I can only see you getting around $5K-$6K for it.

There was a post a year or so ago from some reputable shop with Crankwalk info.
97's had 50% with CW issues.
95's and 96's were better than 97's., 98's and 99's were nearly unheard of.

IMO opinion ALEX.....find "the one".

The GSX that has been babied....i.e. a one owner female driver car. You'll pay over $8K....but then you won't have to PAY to rebuild stuff that shouldn't be broken when you buy a GSX.

Spend that .02

Gsxtacy

I don't know about 50%. Thats way too high.

they must not treat their cars good. Cause thats an insanely high %.

i'm selling mine if anyone is interested? I just can't spend all this time to finish it anymore. I have more important things to do now.

I've seen so many numbers being tossed around. Mostly I have heard that about 12-15% experience CW.

I won't buy that 50% get it. Never

Espeically considering how many people I see on here with a 97. If it was so bad no one would get it.

missing the point,, its NOT 50% of all 1997 turbo dsms get cranwalk,,,

The unnofficial survey of a few thousand people who crankwalked found that around 40% were 97's. Still a very high number but its not 40% of all 1997s crankwalked,,,its 40% of the crankwalk victims were 97's. See the difference

I have seen some now for about $8k wich is looken better. As for Cwalk I dono what I would do??? And for me only being 15 I have been working VERY hard to get to this point, and I wouldnt drive fast to show off with 3 frinds in the car. It makes it to slow. :thumb:

I turned 16 in june and i found the car i wanted in july 97 eclipse gsx i paid 6,500 for it with 69,000 miles and it has leather and all the good stuff......so take time to find what u want dude it took me a month when i really started looking :thumb: o and being a 16 yr old with a turbo dsm is great....the only thing that sucks is i waited to long to get my permit so i just got it in june so i have to wait 180 days (6 months if u dont feel like thinking :p ) till i can get my license...but that gives me time to cuztomize it :dsm:
