Hey guys I tried searching a lot before posting this but didn't find the answer.

What's the best oil to use in a 98 Eclipse GS that has 130K miles on the engine & tranny. tranny flush was just recently done and it's about due for an oil change.

I just got the car from a buddy and he did an oil change right in front of me using Mobil 1 10w-30 3k miles ago but I heard that Royal Purple is pretty good too.

The car has minor stuff done do it like exhaust and intake but I do beat on it quite a bit and I'm not trying be cheap so please recommend me the best oil that I can use.

I bought 1 qt of 10w-30 royal purple to test it out when i need to top off my fluids, but if anyone here has reviews please help me out or point me in the right direction.

thanks

Personally, I usually go with Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30 as well. FYI, not a good idea to mix different oils. If you want to try Royal Purple, wait until your next oil change. Top off with same oil.:)

Well I had to top it off because I was a little low on oil after a race and I'm sure some oil is better than no oil right guys?

Mobil 1 is just fine. That's all I've used for the last 6-7 years

Thanks for the opinion.

Stick with Mobil 1.

Thanks for the opinion.

Mobil 1 that is what I use.

I was under the impression that your not supposed to mix royal purple, with other oils.

Oh really why is that, do you know?

I'm sure it's better to mix it than to have no oil tho right LOL

by the way what do you guys think about this

they did a dyno test using a C5 vette and the royal purple made it gain some HP and Torque..

This is from the royal purple web page.

"Are Royal Purple lubricants compatible with other motor oils?

Yes. Royal Purple lubricants are fully compatible with mineral or synthetic oils. No special procedures are necessary when switching to Royal Purple."

So it should be just fine according to them.:thumb:

They used to say not to mix it with other oils, but since its not really a whole lot different than Mobil 1 it will be fine. Mixing of oil brands has no effect, while mixing of weights can effect the car.

Thanks for clearing that up for me :) I did notice my car ran a little better after I added some Royal Purple to it. I wouldn't ever mix the weights I'm not that newbie LOL

Mobil1 10/30 for sure. Motor will like that stuff ... BUT, if you got your pockets lined in green, you could swing over to AMSOIL 10w30 and a AMSOIL oil filter .....

Bad comparison - a V8 5.7L against a 4cyl2.0L ... doesn't count, sorry.

So amsoil is better than Royal Purple? Thanks for your input.
