Hey everyone i was trying to figure out what is the best front mount intercooler to get? My GST spyder is 100% stock but i was looking at doing hks 3in cat back exhaust and hks downpipe also injen cold air intake and nkg sparks and wires... I was going to put a front mount intercooler so i can have that engine really cool i was told about the Buschur front mount one is that good or ? ### help thank u

o ya also i was going to do a 255 fuel pump...

wow easy there, there is other mods(turbo upgrade would be a better choice instead) you can do before you start upgrading the intercooler. If you want somebody to tell you what is the best intercooler out there; get ready for alot of different opinions on the subject.

Obviously ETS makes a great kit but it is also lots of $$$ (for some of us). But I just got the PUnishment Racing kit, like the above video, and it looks superb and performs very well also.

No need for a FMIC until you start heat soaking the stock SMIC. Also depending on the turbo and boost level you run it at will make a difference in the core size you need. It is possible to go too big. Also, a FMIC isn't going to "cool an engine", it's going to heat it up as you are blocking the air flow to the radiator. It will however, cool the air charge down.

In all reality, the most efficient inter-coolers are the water-to-air coolers. There is a lot more to them but water displaces heat much better than air does.

The Injen pipe is a huge waste of money as well. Look on evay for "chrome intake" or something like that, it's roughly $50 for an Injen style copy. Then you can use that extra $150 to something more useful.

I also have the vsr fmic. Fills the gap in bumper for a great look, installed very easy, great quality, and it is a shorter route piping then the PR kit. Just my .02¢.

so then from a stock gst spyder what is the best mods to do first? if im looking to spend around 3k and also i want my car daily driver and no check engine lights... it has 50,000 original miles as well.

I was told to do:

hks down pipe
hks hi power 3in exhaust
injen cold air intake
255 fuel pump
nkg wires and sparks
turbo gauge and air to fuel gauge and temp gauge
hks ssq bov
and Buschur FMIC...

You know, all that HKS stuff isn't necessary

Sounds like you were talking to a fanboy LOL

I would say get a logger and something to tune with (like EcmLink)

whats good then LOL hahahah im looking to order stuff and get my car faster and open it up alot more looking to drop like 3k

Like I said in my first post, look through our upgrade path in the "tech" drop down menu. Oh here you go if your too lazy to look there yourself Tech Guide: 2G 4G63t Upgrades - DSMtuners

Were not going to spoon feed you all this info, there is tons available on this site. Please use the search function. You're not the first newb to come in and ask this same exact question.

Well as long as you have all your maintenance up to date and have a healthy motor...

It would be easier for the rest of us to recommend parts if you give us an idea of what kind of goals you have for the car

If you plan on venting your blow off valve, look into a GM MAF and a Translator for it. And I second the idea to drop all the HKS stuff, no need to spend money when in all reality, piping is piping. Expecially in your case, you aren't doing any major mods. A 3" turbo back exhaust, intake, all the freebie mods, and a turbo upgrade (16g evo3 is always a good choice), a manual boost controler, and then get a wideband o2 and a means to tune everything.

I would say go with a Megan Racing exhaust system or have a custom one fabbed up at an exhaust shop. You'll need to have the down pipe modified to allow a cat to be installed however.

Magnaflow mufflers sound amazing. I'm not proud of it, but you seem to be the kind of person that would enjoy this. Just coasting down the street I'll set of car alarms. This is with a 3" catless system utilizing 2, yes 2, Magnaflow mufflers. 1 is mid exhaust and is a round can and the last is a dual outlet oval muffler. It's deep and almost too loud for me.

They are all the same really, just different materials, different bends and different muffler LOL

The Thermal R&D is nice, but too expensive for a cat back. I got my whole system downpipe back for not much more than the price of their cat back.

I need to get a better audio clip but this is mine.

I love my Thermal. I told myself with this car I wasn't going to compromise on things I wanted for it. It was expensive, but everything I got was top notch. It's refreshing for everything to lineup like it should the FIRST time, rather than cut, hack, refit, etc.

i can see you posting back in a few months later, wondering what that rough noise is your engine is making and why its driving funny!!
Not to seem like a d*ck but i have a feeling you haven't worked on many cars!

The best thing for you do to is follow the upgrade path!! BUT as far as exhausts', i have a magnaflow muffler on my 3" turbo back catless piping and i think it sounds NICE.. mellow deep tone, quite at cruising speeds but deep smooth sound at WOT!!

And for the FMIC, i would recommend you stay with you stock side mount till the front mount is needed!

1. Gen Maintnance
2. Intake and Exhaust
3. MBC
4. Logger
5. Fuel
6. Turbo (Evo 16g)
7. FMIC
8. Tuning
9. Clutch
10. Bigger Turbo

Do this in this order, dont skip any!

IN THAT ORDER!!!

A FMIC will not help you at all on the tiny turbo, when you start pushing 16+ on a evo 16g than a FMIC would be needed, dont think you can just bolt up shit like those ricer Honda guys do, doing it right is what makes a car fast, not doing it wrong. Read up vfaq untill your eyes bleed, learn as much as you can and dont turn boost up untill you know what you need to do it safley.
