Oh man, I've had so much go wrong from the first day. Went to pick it up from the guys house and the battery was dead (no big problem), we tried jumping it, that didn't work. So we come back 2 days later with my uncles trailer again (did I mention the car wasn't firing on the fourth cylinder? so it had to be towed to the shop anyway). So we barely get it up on the trailor, it was smoking alot and leaking tons of oil. So we take it too my uncles shop, start taking off the intake manifold , etc etc. to take off the cylinder head. We take off the cylinder head and happened that there was a hole in the fourth piston. I put new rings on all the pistons, plus replace that bad piston, but it back all together and try starting it, doesnt run because I was off timing the timing belt by one notch. So finally it runs after I take care of all that and it takes smoking alot which wasnt a big suprise due to the fact that there was oil everywhere so it all had to burn off the exhaust manifold and everything. But it was still leaking about a quart of oil so I got tired of working on it myself take it to a Mitsubishi Dealership/auto repair and they replace the crankshaft seal, fix the transmission, and replace one of the CV joints. I got the car back today by the way and now its making a clicking noise. I'm guessing it's either rod, bearing, or something but I'm so tired of this car already. Don't get me wrong I love eclipses just not crappy 1.8 liter eclipses ,which I had to buy because my turbo eclipses insurance was wayyyyy to high for me so I ended up selling it.

Bought my 90 tsi with bad turbo.Guy said he had just went through motor and the turbo did look new.Got it home bolted up the 16g ran it for a day only to find tons of metal in oil...dude left the old rod bearings in the oil pan.Kinda extrude honed all the internals.Nice

okay I think I am going to be top if not right up there on the bad luck scale..

I searched for 4 months to find a 98-99 GST in good shape finally I found one local to me the guy put a big 16g and a HKS BOV but NEVER got on it or raced it. I did a compression check it was perfect mechanically the car was excellent. I buy it for 8,900 with 78k miles. I go to work that night and call some friends up to come out and check it out, I stay outside for a few hours talking to them. in the morning when I got off work I took the car to jiffy lube to get the oil changed so I could get a fresh mileage start.

That night the adapter plate loosen and the oil filter backs off the motor lost all the oil and shut itself down. The shop refused to accept responsibilty for the work because it was the oil feed adapter an not the filter itself.. But luckily we tightened that back up and the car started just fine ad only had a small tick ( maybe a collapsed lifter).

Well a week later I am greeted in the morning by my district manager who came to fire me from my $14.50 an hour job for hanging out outside with my friends on the clock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today 2 months later I finally found another job, I ahve replced the lifters with no fix several mechanics think that it is most likely a bad wrist pin or piston slap!!!!

so in 24 hours my motor went from perfect to needing rebuild and I lost my very stable job because of the car....

well... dont have a good story since ive only had it for a few weeks... but, its white and right after i got it they decide to repave my neighborhood and its been all dirt and choppy for about 2 weeks

I got my 97 GST Eclipse

I burn out the clutch and since I know nothing about fixing one I take it to a dealer..i lose about 1500. (OH I had the right control arm fixed as well)

Then a week later I let my friend drive it and he runs into a curb destroying the left control arms (1300).

I now have to seal up oil leaks and change timing belt all estimated at (1500)

SO all in all i spent 4300 fixing a car that cost me 4000......

But I love it and refuse to sell it no matter how much everyone tells me 2.

OH I GOT NEW ROCKFORD SPEAKERS and having it installed monday

I bought my car at night and the next day I noticed the passenger side door panel was held on by nails? The guy also took it over the pass when there was snow(seattle area) and it was a giant snow shovel so the front end is f(cked up. He also made a short shifter by cutting and welding....
I used to live in a hick town so my biggest BS was vandals. The side of my car was spray painted yellow...my drivers side door panel was ripped off countless times, someone tried to break in when it was running and the doors were locked and pulled off my handle. My car was egged many times and no matter where I parked there were huge door dings. Some hick with a lifted pick up took is front tire to the drivers side corner light/bumper and pushed it in (I caught him in the act and kicked the shit out of him but that didn't fix my car) After having my AVC-R for two weeks, it was stolen at HIN. The motor problems didn't happen till 8 months later (thank god, I had a low paying job at the time). I could go on but lets just say if you live in washington don't ever go to korum mitsubishi, they are ragging (*^$suckers mother%&$*#(s and can go to hell.
*sigh* but it's all worth it though, my car creates instant bliss when driving, I love it.:dsm:

oh yeah my sony xplod cd player caught on fire too...... doesnt mix with stock speakers....

O man this is easy. Two years ago when I bought my first dsm (1g) I was in texas. I live in nevada and I didnt want to make the two day drive back home alone so I flew my friends bobby down to texas to road trip back with me. So the morning we start off and everything was great. Then about an hour outside of El Paso Texas the transfer case locked up on the freeway when I was going 85 mph. I kept the wicked slide under control and managed to end it on the side of the road. When I look over to see if bobby is ok I noitce he isnt there, and the passenger side door is open.....

Bobby brought it upon himself to make a leap out of the car because he thought I was going to flip the car when it was pitched totally sideways. He actually wasnt very hurt, just some road rash amazingly. So anyway the car gets fixed and shipped to Las Vegas where I pick it up and begin to drive it to reno (home) and the transmission dies on me. So I get it flat bedded home and sell it for $800. Then I bought a 2g............

That's funny as Sh!t Were you like " Bobby? Where Bobby go? " then you find him in the ditch a 100yrds away moning LoL Sorry Nice to know your friend didn't kill himself

When I first got my DSM I did the try and downshift into 1st not knowing at the time how hard it was to try that on a dsm. OMG

Ok, I got my car right before I graduated 90N/T eclipse 72k orig miles, and then 2 wks later i go on vacation, so since my car was better than my dads, he drives it while i'm out of country for 6 wks, I get back and he was 5k miles over due my oil change, and about a week later i got "rod knock" hooray. Now instead of fixing it like alot of the N/T people have been doing to their problems I stepped up a class, I am doing the 4g63 to 4g63t swap, of course i don't have the money to pay someone to do it, and i have never done somthing like this before, but I decided to do it anyway i'm 2 months into this damn project and i'm almost done... The motor i bought had engine coolant in all 4 cylinders and it had rusted up so i'm rebuilding the block wo0t w0ot for voiding warranties :thumb:

Ok, I could possibly have you all beat, possibly. I buy my car, take it home then go take some friends for a ride, cruising oil starts pouring out, i lost all of it in like 45 secs, it was only because the idiots who changed the oil at the dealership, before i bought, crossthreaded the filter. Then next day, my balance shaft belt skips and they are now out of time, then about a week later, clutch goes bye bye, then things were good for about a month, after getting everything fixed and all. Next, hose by hose, day by day, every single coolant hose on the car blew, one by one. Replaced all of those, and now I'm looking at a blown head gasket, cool, huh.

First day i got the car, the tranny goes, was covered under 90 day warranty, a few months later a valve breaks...have no idea how and falls into the cylinder and ####s up piston and cylinder wall pretty bad, have to get 4 new pistons, block rehoned, new valves, rod bearings, and a few other things i replaced while the engine was apart. Another few months later the gasket between the oil pan and pump failed and oil spewed out all over the highway and and seized the engine, and turbo(ete32), Fried rings and rod bearings. Rebuilt the engine for the second time. and the times it was running in between the engine rebuilds, I've had numerous problems, like a leaking radiator, which was replaced, replacing shifter cable, leaking clutch slave cylinder and other tiny stuff.

WHen I 1st got my talon, the guy told me that I had a few months let on the ACT2100 that he had installed, yea right, the damn clutch went a week later. No biggie , I get it fixed car is good again, and a year and a month later, its snowing/iceing here in Charlotte, NC. So I decide to go out in the work parking lot witha few buddies, and we all start havin some fun, i start doin some donuts and doin some drifts, when I go to do another donut , and the damn BS belt went and took out my timing belt, so now I get to rebuild the head. Next thing ya know, my buddy is out doin donuts in his GVR4 , and completely destroys his right axle. SO in a nut shell, im with out a car for the next couple of weeks ! This blows ! :thumbdown

When I picked up my car the clutch master and slave cylinders went up on the way home (act 2600 was installed the day before i picked it up). The day after that the ECU fried while i was inspecting the rest of the car while it was idleing.

i bought my car, and three days later my two rear tires are flat. i drive it at 5mph to the gas station and try to put air in them in 10 degree weather. one of them takes air, the other has a frozen stem. nice. throw on the dohnut after like an hour of going in and out of the gas station to keep warm. then i drive it to my mitsu dealer and he replaces the tires for free (yay to warranty). right now my radio doesnt work, cause the bastard is too cheap to replace the radio. now i installed a boost gauge and its reading about 13-16psi and 13-15 vac at idle. that not right, eh? and on top of that, my oil pressure is really really low. like barely moving low. so im taking it over tomorrow... we shall see how this goes.

Bought the car and drove from the midwest to the east coast.

No problems on the trip...

Get there and its either

1. "Im gonna kill ya and take your car"
2. "that is'nt a BMW"
3. "my mustang has more displacement."

My answers

1. Off duty and wearing vest. I see him the next day on duty and walk up and say "so still want take my car. "

2. "I don't date gold diggers anyway"

3. "Hey man I looked in my rear view was there like a burn out contest and slalom course that I missed because I sure made better time" or "Is that what you tell the all HS girls too"

I have 2 cross-country 95 Talon stories: BEWARE - LONG STORIES! Each icon will be a "kill"

1 - bought my car sight unseen from NY/NJ, got there owner picked me &buddy up in NYC. Got to car in NJ (he never drove it in the city) and tire was flat. Got it filled on the next block - he felt so bad he bought a brand new tire & I got the match for a pair- No time to get mounted. Take to Mitsu dlr for buyer's check - they tightened shifter bolts (alum bushings) and said the rear tires were "a little worn" on the inside. Took off from NJ around 10pm thurs night.
All goes well until fri morn-15mi past Rockford, IL... FR tire explodes! :talon: I didn't even really know until I saw a piece of the sidewall fly past the window. Good thing I have roadside asst. (spare won't fit over baer brakes) towed to a truck tire place, they install one new tire in reverse direction. Drive to rockford Disc. tire and spend the next 6 hrs finding a tool to remove rounded allen lugs. Get all new tires on and drive home uneventfully. Arrive Tacoma, WA @ 3am Sunday!! 3months and rebuilt trans blows up. 3 more months and it's rebuilt. now 2 yrs later 3-4 fork? breaks on I-5. Oh yeah, WSP killed the front end last april:talon:. I have ALMOST had enough.

2 - My friend liked my car so much, he needed one. We fly to JFK(I am now in love with JetBlue) to get another 95 TSi AWD! At the airport, the rental co raises price by $100 for a 6hr rental 1-way to PA! we walk down the street and a NICE lady convinces her mgr to give us a car for only $130 (instead of like 220)! Pick up car from buyer (Tony S - Very nice guy!!). Leave N.E. PA about 6pm wed. Sleep in seediest $30 motel ever in Cleaveland. Friday evening, LF axle craps out on fwy in Wyoming:talon:. Try to fix in slush in nice guy's driveway w/blind (!) guy holding flashlight for me while friend runs tools. Limp to motel. After 3hrs on phone, parts store promises correct part to us from billings on greyhound. Get part and get towed past Bozeman where nice, clean shop will put in the axle after hrs on sat for us. 4:30pm sat - car on lift, they sent WRONG PART! Stuck in Belgrade on sat night w/wrong axle! F*@K IT!
Call buddy to rent U-haul trailer and come get us from Seattle. Enjoy excellent chinese food and movie "Elf". 1am - friend driving tow rig calls to tell me he hit a deer in my 'burb

and it is steaming like crazy in eastern WA! I call back and it turns out it's just a/c cond. 8 am Sun, we load the Talon and now I won't let anyone else drive my truck. After waiting 3hrs to go over bare&wet Snoqualmie, we arrive home, Talon and truck get fixed that week and all is well! Then friend puts his talon over a curb in the rain...:talon:

Long story short - 9500miles, 3 cars crashed, no one hurt, and a couple of cool stories to tell!

^^^^ can i suggest getting a rabit's foot for your keychain? sounds like you need one.

Been damn lucky with my DSM accidents.

the biggest one. I was racing a GSX100R in Ohio on my way to NY to visit my brother in Rochester.

Raced him from 60 to 140mph and was dead even (he had to swurve through traffic while I had a straight away) right afterwards him and his friend gave me the thumbs up and then the highway turns into a 30mph zone due to a sharp Right. Any case right as I get the car down to 30mph the rear driverside Tire Blows out. think of how bad that would have been at 140mph. These tires weren't even a week old. RE730's.

Just this week I was driving my girlfriends 92 TSI AWD heading into work. Got down the street from my house when the power steering ball joint Nut came off and I lost control of the passengerside wheel. Which combined with the snow / ice on the ground put me into a snow bank because there was no steering controls. The passengerside tires was cocked 90 degrees to the right and my driverside one was tracking straight. Now I have to fix the bent fender realine the door and fix what ever suspension is messed up. This was all at 15mph, think about what would have happened if I'd been on the highway instead of still in my neighborhood.

4 hrs after i picked it up i was going to wendys to get something to eat at about 9:00pm. i was in a double turn lane and in the outside lane. the light turned green and the stupid 16 yr old girl in the inside lane went accross my lane cut me off and hit my drives side front fender. 2 months later leaving work in a 45 mph zone a car stopped in front of me and forced me to vear to the left, over corrected and ended up head on with a 1 ton truck. totaled the gsx and broke my feamur and spent a month in the hospital and so far 6 months of rehab. i can walk, but dont expect me to run or jump yet; my surgen says i should be fully recuped in a year.

first off I was in the process of getting this talon, they kept delaying it and delaying it overall i didn't have a car for like 3+ months because of them taking forever to paint the hood and front bumper

(Bought as is)
Well I was TOLD that the timing belt was changed @ 60k miles...

WHOA they lied, bought teh car with 65k miles timing belt snapped at 67k miles

1500 for the rebuild downtime of about 2 weeks.

Then couple more weeks went by, BYE BYE clutch (was slipping in 2nd gear all the time)

exuse to put act 2600 in tho :p

actually then the electrical system almost completly went out (car battery would die every night) something was always draining it, had to do a full rewire

the first time i washed it I slipped and fell in the carwash and dented my hood, I don't think I've ever been more pissed in my life. Also, about a week later the balance shaft belt pulley siezed throwing the belt off and it got caught in the timing belt. It cost a total of 2500 to fix everything that broke, plus another 1000 to fix other random things...
