Drove all the way to Indiana from Missouri to get my 91TSi. On the way back the front end started to viberate kinda bad. I pulled over about 3 hours from home and looked at my passenger wheel. The wheel was missing 3 of the studs. I guess the studs were sheerd off on the way home. Luckly my bro drives a tow truck for a regional company and was in town to give me a lift home.:D Once he got the car on the flatbed the other two studs just fell off and the wheel droped to the ground. Talk about scarry S*h*i*t.

My first DSM was a 1990 GSX..this was back in 1998. I was stationed in south dakota, and it gets to -40s (wind chill) in the winter. I was heading out to my car on the way to work and when I went to open my door, the handle was frozen shut again, so I pulled with some force and ended up breaking the handle off the door...I was pissed, so I went to the other side and that one also broke off! For the next couple months, I was forced to enter my car through the hatch which needless to say, really sucked as it often tripped my factory alarm (ripped that out next).

And thats not all. My clutch started to go and I was on the highway to a gas station when it finally gave out and so I coasted as close as I could and left my car there on the side of the road. I walked to the gas station 1/2 mile up, and called a friend over. We drove back to my car and I removed all my aftermarket stereo equipment. I had orders to Korea the next month, and was so fed up at this point, I called a junk yard and told them they could have the car if they towed it off the highway. I swore never again would I own another Mitsubishi...I couldn't believe they made door handle hinges from $%&#in plastic!

Of course time heals all wounds, and now I own a 2G GST! It's like when you keep going back to that fine ass ex-girlfriend who pisses you off, but damn she's good in bed!

When i first got my car, i took it home and parked it in my garage to check it out. Front speakers didnt work consistantly, fade in and out(still do) and there was oil sitting on the top of the engine and it smelled like burning oil. i thought maybe the dealer overfilled it. well then it started leaving baseball sized oil spots everywhere i parked it. well the first month i had it it was in the shop at least 2 weeks, maybe more. the dealer kept telling me it was an overflow. finally they replaced that dumb gasket or whatever that chrysler screwed up on, and it was finally fixed! Since then, i had a wire go bad, and my engine shook like crazy, jumped around while i was accelerating, and missfired. that was pleasant. then i hadmy idler pulley push into my powersteering line and cut it, spraying power steering fluid all over my radiator. theres nothing like suddenly having no powersteering and having that beautiful smell of burning powersteering fluid blowing through your vents and onto your face. drove it home from school wiht no PS and had to have it towed to the shop that had been working on it a week earlier and screwed that up... my DSM has been a blast! I lover her to death! :D:dsm:

Waiting 3 weeks to get the title and tags, then having the turbo go up as soon as I got it tagged. Couldn't even get on it once it was tagged, not that i didn't before it got tagged:thumb:

Was assured the car was great. Excellent wheels only one small ding in the passenger door. Forked up a $300 plane ticket, waited for the car at the hotel for a day. Checked out at 12noon still no car, come 2:30 car finally shows up after waiting outside the hotel.

It was messy as hell, the stereo was ripped out, broken trim peices. Tranny leaks, The wheels were bent on the lips, numerous scratches I was never informed of. Carpet was stained, nothin I could do though. He seemed surprised what kind of idiot doesn't notice a bent lip on the wheel or 3 of the wheels shall I say. He then offers to fix the interior peices. At this point I'm nearly a day behind schedule, and can't afford to wait 3 days for a plane ticket and the cost of staying at a hotel for the time being. I take the car utterly disgusted in myself.

Start driving home, and 20miles down the road the check engine light comes on. Once again stuck alone 1300 miles from home. Decided to keep on goin (real nice driving that long with no radio whatsoever).

Get to san antonio and notice alot of vibration coming from under the car. Stop at a gas station inspect the car only to find out the driveshaft is being held up by a coat hanger. The carrier bearing was shot at this point. So I stay there for 2 days waiting for mitsu to fix it for me.

Passenger rear tire went flat 2 times on the trip.
Once I got it home I noticed there was some slight rust under the hatch. A few spots of rust under the paint in the engine bay.

What makes it best of all is I bought it from a well known dsmer on this site, who denies that anythign was wrong when I bought it. Won't pay to fix even the interior trim peices anymore.

Never gonna buy a car long distance again. Absolute worst experience of my life. But hey he got his money who cares right? Not gonna mention his name. All it takes is time and $$. At least its in good hands now.

Just proves to show you can't trust anyone online.

:( :thumbdown

that sucks.... which car was this the new one or the red one... btw... have you taken your car to the track yet...??? hows it running and all??

It was my GSX I just bought about 2 weeks ago.

I haven't got to run my talon yet man. My ecu is messed up all my relays start clicking when I turn the ignition. Do you happen to have a spare ecu? So I can see whats the deal.

I just installed a stage 3 eprom to compensate for my 780cc injectors, 2 stage studderbox, 8500rpm rev limiter etc. I may have messed something up installing it. But I'm no electronics guru.

You have nothing on me, I bought the car with a broken center diff, cracked bellhousing, leaking throttle body, bad oil seals on 14b, bad cylinder head. So I go on a second spending spree and replace an untold number of parts. Three months later the bi*** is running. I then proceed to have the rear end blow up on me....more $$$ and a 4-bolt later I am cruising again. Then the first time I get it to the track I spin a b-shaft bearing and grenade my motor and new big 16G.

90gsx 5spd manual.. I was told it had a bad sensor and needed a battery. Replaced both and it wouldent start.. bought a brand new starter and got it running finally, here it needed a computer.. replaced the computer and come to find out the turbine housing has quater inch cracks in it. replace that and the exhaust manifold.. finally is running but now they never told me second gear was gone and first gear is on its way out. so i need a new tranny soon. I also hadto replace the windshield. I bought the car for only $700 dollars and sold $300 worth of parts I got with the car for free. So that made up for 90% of my money to get the car running again. All in all i'm very happy that I finally have what I want though even if it gave me a month of problems I actually love itOMG i'm at about 1,175 right now so by the time i reach 2g it will be in great running condition and i still got it cheaper after everything done to it then some people paid for theirs:)

My story is exactly what happens when you buy a car that has been abused by a previous owner. I bought my 95 Eagle Talon a little over a year ago....and thats when the wallet became empty... I could write a book on my car I swear.

The signs that I knew I was going to pay for in the future was the fact the motor had half a quart of PURE BLACK motor oil, incredibly noisy lifter tick.

In list of chronological order, as far as I can remember:
- Terminal cables to the battery were rubbing together causing spark and randomly reseting the power while I was driving...a lot like fuel cut. This happened at TWO different times. ~$5

- Car leaks oil, requires a new turbo feed line. ~$80

- Lifter tick got so bad ECU picked it up as knock, retarded my timing, so I replaced all the lifters, at the same time they replaced the Drive Shaft Belt and Timing Belt. This was a ~$1,000 job

- Aftermarket indiglo gauges go out, so I go back to stock orange gauges.

- Due to poor alignment, I put 4 new tires on and instead of getting a alignment I blow it off...needless to say I had to get 4 new tires again about 3 months later. This costed me about ~$220

- While the alignment was done, they said I needed new breaks, rotors, and shocks...They managed to resurface the rear rotors but the front ones needed replacing. Rear Struts were manufacturer only item...cost me ~$600

- Grinding noise is heard from passenger side tire, checked out...new CV axle needed on the passenger side. ~$200

- Squels heard from 3 different belts, serp. belt, alt. belt, fan belt, all replaced. ~$180

- Clutch goes out, due to pressure plate cracking. ~$900

- Loud obnoxious squel heard moving the steering wheel, driver side CV Axle now gives. ~$200

- Everything drives fine for awhile, when all of a sudden "POP!" a constant pop is emitted from the passenger side axle when foot is off the gas, in motion and in gear. I get it to the shop, Lateral Lower Balljoint seperates right in their parking lot. Try to get recall done, but am denied..apparently the previous owner reported it stolen at one time or the other..so I am shafted with another $160 bill.

- After getting the car off the lot, the clutch is COMPLETELY shot, doesn't work at all, I take it back..its under warranty they fix it.

- Get it back once again, the Alternator belt frys as I get home, take it back ONCE again, covered under warranty ONCE again...get that fixed.

- Some Seals in transmission give due to bottoming out, this costs ~$60

- Driver side CV Axle Seal fails, costs $12 for parts, they do the labor for free.

- Master Cylinder fails, $140
- Slave Cylinder fails, $150

- Passenger side CV Axle seal has failed, has yet to be fixed.

- Water Pump is leaking, stop-leak has held it so far, but needs to be replaced eventually.

- Alternator Pulley has a rotten bearing making an obnoxious rattle, so I spray belt dressing to hold that down.

- Popping noises are heard randomly from the back and front when hitting bumps or going up a hill..unknown problem.

Ahhh...yes DSMs are females and very pesky vehicles...My Suspension seems to be the biggest problem with the car which is caused by the hard launching of the moron before me. Needless to say the amount of repairs I've put into this car I could have bought a second one....I still love her though.

Well I just bought mine last week and here are some things that have happened

Day 1 - Check Engine Light comes on

Day 2 - Oil Light comes on/someone in the mall parking light dings it

After the ding in the parking lot, I get a garage for my car at my apartment complex, well of course they give me the garage on a slanted hill....so its a pain for me to get the car in and out everytime. This friday I try to get into the garage, cut it a lil bit too much and dent the side of it, So now the car as a dent on the driver side and one on the fron passenger side.

The check engine light came on b/c I need a new EGR valve.
The oil light came on b/c I have an oil leak, the main oil seal needs to be replaced.

The guy who had the car before me did some ghetto wiring to it so the wiring is all f*cked up and I have to get that fixed.

But other wise my baby runs wonderfully. She is clean and has plenty of the fluids and vitamins she needs

paid $1000, just had brand new timing belt, head, and radiator hoses. 2days after i got it i drive to work and there is no heat, so i let it set there runnign for a little then i hear a pop and steam come out from under the hood, get out and radiator fluid is leaking all over an and it is brownish orange (like the orange fluid for boats but with rust ing it) find out it was a small hose to the heater core about 6in long. Get it fixed put about 200 miles on it and the tranny stats to winning and the sychro feel like they are going, and the gears get hard to find, car wont idle because the timing was off, diving up this hill and the semi in front of me is going slow so i pass him in the tuning lane when shifting from 3rd into 4th some how i it 2nd(like i said geats where hard to find have no clue how i managed to hit 2nd, so please no flaming) and after that car wouldnt rev past 4k must, then wouldnt start next day, so i take it to a shop and they say ther is no compression in 2cylinders, and sounds like a head probleem. So i take the car to my parents house and rip of the head and the valves were all bent must of happen when i was passing that truck.

ahhh yes the horror stories...i got two

i had just purchased my piece of shit GST...drove it around for a week (bout 400miles) my brother caught up with me on the freeway on my way home..he gets next to me and i downshifted to 3rd and floored it, i hit 80or so and got ready to shift to forth and all the sudden my car bucks like a bull....bob bob bob...i slow down exited the freeway came to a stop..and i heard it miss liike a motherff...i poped the hood and my engine is shaking like crazy and idleling like crazy too...so i drove it homeand felt no power what so ever. I pulled to my drive way and i hear a loud pop pop pop...and then a hissssshhh and then the car stalled and didnt want to start again. the proble was that the timing belt skipped like a gazzilion teeth and my valves got bent and broke.
that was that
today i just blew my t25.........arrrrrrrrr

I bought my dsm for 1500 cash. I had it two or three weaks, third gear starts grinding. My friend ask to take my car to pick up his girl. Tells me i will be back in 15. two and a half hours go by he shows up with a story of racing an integra, and fails to tell me he f*cked the tranny up. I have never seen a dime from him

Ah I feel better now :D
Your from odgen? I lived in brigham city for 18 years. I have a few dsm friends still in brigham.

well 1 week after buyinh my 93 n/t i decide to test the redline of the car against a slow ass 92 accord. wel first gear i shift at about 6500, then i decide to push second to the max, it hits about 8500 and i go whoa and hit third, then i hit about 8700 and realise that there dont seem to be a rev limiter on this mofo. so i take it all the way upto 125mph dusting this accord when i look at my oil pressure gauge is reading a bit lower than normal. so as im driving a bit more and5 mins pass i watch it drop to almost none. so i get off at the next exit and put 1 qt in it and the level was fine. popped it in cruise and made it home with almost no pressuse.

next day i knotice the leaking oil and fill'er up with 2 qt and buy a 3rd for the trip and drive from auburn wa to puyallup to get it fixed. well they found that the oilpan gasket was "leaking" and that i had a blown valve cover gasket and that it would be ready the next day. so after work i have my girl drive me there and im sitting in trafffic almost there, which they close at 5pm, which it was 5 mins away. i said id be in in about 10 mins and he told me "sorry but after putting it together we found that the valve cover is cracked and it wont be ready till tomarrow IF we get the part." well tomarrow came and i called he said that they sent the wrong part, so they drove out to seattle and found the part. luckily i wasent charged for the extra labor and the parts were all covered in warranty. my oil sending unit was bad they said, but it worked for me. 3 days later it went kaput! they tried to charge me for brakes so they quoted me 1200 total for it all, i said hell no, i et them at cost from my uncle. so i got out of it paying about 250 and picked up pads and rotors all arount for about 120 total free install.

now so far i have blown a collant hose (the one going from the overflow to the block) it was an easy 10$ fix for the anti freez and hose.

replaced 2 tires. 1 had a chunk taken out of it when i spun out and curb slid in the snow and the other had a nice bubble in it.

replaced gasket and 1 bolt that was missing in cat converter!

now my damn drivers side rear break makes a howling/squeel noise in reverse.

now somones fat ass has dented my rear fender. easily popped out with the right tools.

and there is a hole in my front bumper

interior is a joke. all torn up.

passenger seat wont move and is missing bolts off the mounting brackets.

previouuse owner i guess had aftermarket seats. and also ripped all the speaker wiring out! so i had a nice 2 hour rewire of the car going for me.

my alignment sucks!

and to top it off my rear view mirror fell off when i was bumping my new sub. and my driverside mirror motor is dead!

other than that i love my turquise girly car!

i hit the head off a yard gnome.....busted a hole the size of a baseball in my oil pan, busted the tranny housing....and dented up my downpipe pretty good....

how did you hit a yard knome?!

The day i got my talon I was getting onto the highway to go home and it started to bog really bad and died. So i turned around got off the highway and looked under the car oil was leaking everywhere took it in found out i locked up the balance shaft, and the crank. All because the oil filter adapter was loose and leaked all the oil out.

Just a few months(4) after purchasing my car my head blew.(timing belt)

Ok fine rebiuld it then my turbo dies(stock t25)

shure whatever so, one month after ,my new head blew,,,, again(tbelt tensioner)

so a few grand later and a restraining order from my warrenty companies mechanic .

 :| why me:confused:

well I met a nerdy guy who turned out to be an amazing friend and an even better mechanic , he goes by the name the king of the hill wich also happens to be the owner of magnus motorsports.

So I guess everything worked out but I wish It dident happen so soon and one after the other.

Ohh and befor I forget my entier exhaust was ripped open after that at st. thomas dragway buy a rock and a pot hole.

&$#& some one up thier dident like me very much.

started off after a traffic light the other day and when i was going through the intersection my car spun on some black ice, but i pulled out of it it ok, oversteered the other way, and bam, right into a damn curb. it didnt bend my rim and the car still drives straight, but now i have this curb rash on my rim, along with all of the corrosion along the edge of the rim. its nice.

jive....well, it was almost dark, i was in the turning lane to turn into my driveway when i saw it...thought maybe it was a paper bag with a bottle in it (don't know why i thought that  ), so i figured it'd be better if i just ran over it....well...i was wrong....it must have came off someones truck on the way to the dump...i actually still have it in my car...
