It has been eight months since I have bought my 98 GSX and so far so good. Rachel is her name & she has been oh so good to me as I have been to her. When I bought the car she had a leak from the oil pan so I sealed it up no biggie. I spent $480.00 ( that includes the shop work hours for installation. I didn't have time to do the repairs so I had a shop take care of it.) because the master cylinder & slave cylinder went out on me. Ironically I ordered the performance slave & master cylinders the week before. I thought that was sooo priceless when that happened.

I see what parts are about to go and before they go I replace them with performance parts instead of waiting for death; for example my radiator is turning green and cracking showing signs that it's about to go so I'm ordering a Koyo radiator. Next is ALL belts need replacement front motor mount new AEM pulleys, the list goes on. I guess I'm like this because I'm addicted to working on cars as well as obsessed with the 2G Eclipse.

Other than that 8 months going & no problems except for standard & preventive maintenance. I hope she continues running this great.

I bought my eclipse with a front bumper that had a crack from the right fog light down and the hood was dented in the left fender was bent up at the head light and the left head light was destroyed and the back right window was busted out, so i dropped 1500 to fix all this within a week of buying the car then 27 days later i blew the motor due to compression issues I didnt know about and had to stare at it for 4 months before it got fixed then, 2 years to the date blew the motor again due to an oil leak i didnt kno i had, and am now waiting on the money to rebuild the motor again.:ohdamn:

Dad gave me my first car for my 16th birhtday, 2 weeks later the tranny about fell out because he forgot the dowls in itWTF, fixed that, then a week later the car starts smoking like crazy. have to tow it to CO so my dad and i could rebuild the motor. got it all apart and number 1 piston was a cracked and fell apart. Put it all back together and drove it all the way back to AZ. Everything goes great exept for normal DSM beak down then i start throwing oil everywhere!! like when i would drive the oil would get on top of the hood, had to take out the cams and change the cam seals. then my car would never go into first gear without grinding so i think clutch! well replace that and it didnt help, so a few weeks later on my way to work the clutch release fork snaps in half on me:ohdamn:, so for a month and a half the car was down, but while it was down i did the clutch, put a big 16g turbo on it, front mount intercooler, Wally 255, header. Now the car is finally not falling apart anymore but am going to replace the tranny with my dads old Sheperd Tranny because i dont have first gear syncros!! Im only 17 and have done all this myself and put every paycheck into her but i will never stop, DSM 4 Life!!:hellyeah:

Just bought a 2g spyder Saturday night or well Sunday morning technically. Was over heating and it was an hour and a half drive to get it home. I had to pull over to let it cool down once because it just climbed way to high for my comfort. When I reached about 30mins from home the car just shut off on me. I pulled over and me and my roommate were playing with it for a couple hours and were just stumped. The headlights worked but the starter wouldn't even attempt to work. Finally after checking the fuses for the third time my roommate noticed one was overlooked. Didn't help that it was dark but turned out it was a burnt 30fuse. By the grace of god I didn't damage the gasket or head that I know of so far. I'm going to work on it this week and make sure nothing was damaged. Trying to fix this overheating issue is going to be a challenge.

I was on my way home from a friends in Michigan in my 95 gst I had. I put a jdm 7 bolt in it with low miles. I was about an hour and a half from ft Wayne Indiana im passing a semi and i lose all power and the temp gauge spikes i let it cool down and got it to a gas station called a friend to come get me with his truck and trailer. We get it to his house and compression check it. compression was low so we decided to pull the motor. Come to find out the bi*** crank walked out of no where didn't even show a single sign of an issue. In the end it got 6 bolted only to eat the ass of a semi 6 months later due to i found out i was hypoglycemic and had passed out from lack of sugar.

91 talon awd appraised at 30,000 dollars. until my mechanic plowed in the back end with a snow plow.
then told me to F myself and get my car off his property when i said hes responsible. appraised damage, 5400, sold it for 5000. took him to court, i get a 95 year old hag for a judge, and awards me just enough to pay my lawyer fees.

this hurts just writing this. razor blade anyone???

When I bought my DSM, it went into my name and my BF's name (bad idea, I know)

Well, the relationship was going downhill, so he stole the title, and said he was going to keep it to get me to stay with him.

I threatened to dump him and file for a lost title. He cried and said he'd sign it over to me if I promised to stay with him. So I promised to stay with him and he signed it over to me. I registered for a new title with JUST my name on it and dumped him the next day.

NO ONE threatens to take my DSM from me.

We had a VERY bad winter here in RI earlier this year. Needless to say, it rained non-stop on this day in particular. It mixed with the snow and created tons of deep puddles.

I went to go buy new belts for my DSM at Autozone.

After leaving, i drove onto a street that had a humongous crater in the middle of it with a seemingly small puddle of water. i had no other way of going around it and was the only street available that wasn't blocked by shitload of sleet and snow. i drove over said puddle slowly and just realized i never removed my old CAI. The puddle turned out to be super deep (it nearly went over my hood!) and hydrolocked on the spot. RI streets suck!

Hours later, i was quoted at an insane $2000 just to empty out the ingested water and replace the engine.

i still have the car and will never trust a mechanic ever again.

I was driving my baby home from texas and my girlfriend at the time was behind me and a car flew passed me I just couldnt help myself and mashed it.
Little did I know it was an under cover cop, he got me doing a little over 130 in a 70...

I bought my car over in Idaho not running so I had it towed to my house, then the guy I bought it from never sent me the tittle and he doesn't answer my phone calls. The reason it would not run is ### the solenoid caps in the E.C.U leaked out and fried the board. The good news is I only paid $600 for the car, the bad news is I still dont have the tittle.

after 5 minutes of getting the car the alternater went out and after a month the motor blew it was just my luck

Transfer case lock up at 110 km/h on the highway. Concrete medians on both sides. All 4 wheels locked up and I skid into an off ramp... luckily.

Before I purchased my car I test drove it and visited it many times before I finally decided and it drove fine never had any problems, nothing. So right after I pay for it.. BAM the Check Engine light comes on. The driving down the freeway doing like 75 the whole front end starts to bounce around so I baby it home and find out the hub, bearing, axle and ball joints on the passenger side are toast to the point where I almost lost the wheel... And to top it off I ended up having to put the 500 I talked the guy into taking off the price of the car back into it just to drive it again...

Bought my DSM 5 months ago. Before I bought it I had my friend, who knows more about cars, test drive it and it was fine. So i buy it, drives home fine then the next day I'm cleaning it and i turn it on and after letting it sit for a while it starts smoking from the exhaust:cry:. Honestly i don't know what it is but i have a couple of mechanics tell me its a head gasket, so now i have to take off the head and replace the head gasket as well as everything on the way down and hope that solves my problem.

I bought a 91 TSI AWD and checked it out verifed that "all" it needed was a new clutch. Anyway fast forward a day get it on the lift went to remove trans and found that a ear had broken off block and causing trans to seperate from block when clutch is pushed in. So that was 5 years ago and slowly rebuilding another block i have.

:ohdamn:Bought my car and on the next day when pulling into my driveway from work it just turned off on me, wouldn't start, looked in my fusebox and starter fusible link was blown. to make long story short, had to get me a new wiring harness b/c from fuse box to left fender, wires were burnt. Who knows what the previous owner did but i fixed it and runs like a champ:cool:

Just bought my 97 GSX a couple weeks ago. I test drove it 3 times and had my mechanic come look at it before buying it. On the way home it through a Check Engine light at me and I was like WTF!? Now it looks as if the alternator wasn't wired properly and was overcharging the battery because the battery exploded and now the car won't start at all anymore.

Not even a month and I had to have it towed and it is currently in the shop... Hopefully I can get it to running condition and figure out all the little quirks she has. My other DSM has the same little issues that I always have to keep up on and hopefully I will figure out this one fast.

I sold it! The guy seemed to know what he was talking about, but a few days after he get the car home, he started asking some rather weird questions that anyone who knows DSMs should know. I specifically told him to leave the SAFC settings alone unless he knew how to tune with a laptop or took it to a shop. He agreed and said he knew what it was anyways. I then get an email asking if I knew the SAFC parameters because he was messing around with it and now it runs like shit. Turns out he is now trying to sell the car for 2k more than I sold it to him for.

I've owned that car since 2002! I learned everything about DSMs and cars in general with it. It was down for no more than 3 weeks total since I owned it. Now who knows where it is going to end up! I made sure to sell it to someone who knew what DSMs were and what he was going to do with it, but he really led me on. :(

Drove my turbo Laser home after I bought it. I didn't have plates so I put my Mazda plates on it so that no cops would get suspicious.

So it's 1am, interstate is empty, so I open it up and go 95mph in a 75 zone. Cop hiding on a bridge pulls me over. Not only do I have phony plates, but no insurance either. After 10 agonizing minutes, the cop returns and throws my license at me and says "get that thing registered" and walks away.

Talk about a freebie!

One day driving to work, she has severe lack of power. Not joking it took about 2 minutes to get to 50mph. Engine overheats and knocks like a SOB.

Got her towed home and ripped the bottom end out to find out rod bearings 2 and 3 were shredded. The bottom of the oil pan looked like I had been panning in gold rich Alaska and I had struck it rich.

This is crank. See crank walk. WALK CRANK! WALK! :ohdamn:

So I got my 6 bolt block and am currently swapping it out while still using the 7 bolt head.
