I killed my baby dead dodging a big damn deer. My first and probably best DSM (besides the fact that its FWD) I payed $2000 for it and drove it away, replaced a few sensors and it ran like a champ :thumb: looking for an AWD shell at the moment, my car is sitting here at the house waiting for it's heart transplant which will hopefully come very soon :hellyeah:
 
does anyone know where i can get a heat shield fot my headers? They are the stock headers for any 4g63 turbo. I would prefed the nice custom chrome ones but i have searched and searched and cannot find them! Any help please:aha:
 
Bought the 92 TSI. One month later the 14b takes a crap so it gets replaced with a 16g and ever since I cannot stop.. :hmm:
 
When i first bought my car i was driving it home from allmost Va to Ga. I was probly about a hour, and 45 mins from my house, and it was about 10 Pm, and i noticed it was hard to turn, and the car was over heating, broke the alternator belt, and busted the upper rad hose. i had only owned the car for about 2-3 hours i got stuck on the side of the highway for about 4-5 hours waiting for a guy to come tow me home with a trailer for 100 bucks. Man that day sucked, and don't think the trouble stoped there if i kept going you guys would pick on me

Picked mine up for $1500 "running condition", but some problem with the brakes and needed balljoints.

I get it home, we change the balljoints, go to test drive it and I can't keep it from stalling.

Rev the crap out of it to get it back home to find it keeps jumping timing.

Since then I've discovered that the balance shaft elimination was only half complete. The front shaft was gone but the rear was still there.

The problem with the brakes? Half complete ABS delete. We cut out the rings when we did the balljoints. Later I discovered that it didn't have a non-abs prop valve. Pretty much every "delete" was incomplete.

Love it.
 
Found out the fuel pump was ultra loud and there was nothing i could do about it. Other than that I love my 420a and should be turboed by Late January early February
 
after an hour of owning my car, it starts pouring tranny fluid out of it; turned out to be the result of half a driver side axel seal and lots and lots of rtv.
 
center diff exploded first pull i did with the fresh motor :mad: then it sat 2 years till i found another in chicago and it has ticking problems. ugh now its done sat another year, grand total of 3 years but it still gets started just not drove on the road and its been getting bolt ons as time has passed done dumped 3k in it all except for a new trans. still wish i had the red 1g, i hate awd.
 
Last weekend i was driving back from the jackson rancheria casino in ca at about 2am and since the road was goin downhill i leave it in neutral and as im going on this crazy turn that makes my car hit 55 i start braking when all of a sudden the rear end starts going sides ways and i start to spin out about 3 full spins, then hit a hill of dirt destroying my front bumper and hood and still spining after, i decide to pull the e-brake which luckly stopped my car from going into a ditch that was on the other side of the road. i get off scared that i might have totaled my car and see my front end smashed and also hear air pressure being lost from idk what?so at this point im like f*&^ how am i gunna get home? (and im in the middle of no where) so i say f*&* it if it starts over heating ill just stop and walk to a phone and get help so i get in and start driving it home(3hr drive) and just when i think everything isnt so bad, my hood flings open smashing my windshield(especially on the drivers side thanks to the bump all 1g and 2 g eclipses have) and at this point i think im never gunna make it home. so then i rip my shirt and get the net in the trunk (used to keep things in place) and tie the hood down and luckily make it home at lik 7 in the morning. and now its been in the shop for nearly a week getting fixed....:/
 
Well traded my 96 sable for my 90 GSX and the guy told me the trough out bearing was not put in. So we trailered it home and after he left i started it up and it went into gear and moved.So i drove it all summer and after i raced it at the track and ran 16.7 in the 1/4 and my last race was 15 after i messed with the crankshaft poisioning sensor and the biss screw and a couple of other things. The next week i found out the whole summer ive been driving a car with a bad turbo ### i was burning antifreeze and running rich... hoping before june to have it all fixed and tuned right
 
tranny seized up allthe way to the pressure plate. blown head gasket. its been sitting in my driveway since nov.
 
Bought mine a few days ago for "1500" with 155xxx on it an it was running condition with a few minor fixes. Turned out that the PO did a clutch job an left half the bolts out or loose. The wiring that I just discovered today looks like tweakers have been playing in there with a chain saw. Im pretty good with stereos an wiring but Jesus its bad. The butchered the stock wiring an added all kinds of things that dont even have a place an arent connected to anything. I lost my r. mirror lights, hard wired radar and my alarm. ALL of this wired into the damn stereo wires.

So at the moment the current repairs are: 2 wheel bearings, Plugs, Electrical, 2 Door handles, and some small body work. This is all on the 1st week I have had the car. I am pretty happy with it an cant complain too much since it does drive reasonable for 14 yrs old.

when i bought my first dsm, i had a shop do all the maintenance for me so it ran fantastically. a few months later the timing belt broke half way through a 5 hour one way trip. shitty. it was winter in wiscon! brrrrrr
 
dec 24th 2010 christmas eve, i bought my baby... driving it home about 20 mins driving it, the shifter cable messed up, the bolt broke off and fell somewere. so i had to tow it home. haha..
 
When I first got my car. I drove to Fresno which is 2 hours north were I live at. The previous owner had torn the main fuel line from the pump and he ghetto rig did and while i was driving back it was linking small amount of fuel, so i smelling gas all the way back home. Now i had to go to the dealer and buy the new hose for 100 bucks. Oh well i still got my Gsx, so I'm happy.;)
 
So im driving down 280 on sunday and all of a sudden i smell smoke... then the car catches fire.. this all happened so quick i still hadent pulled over... by the time i got to the shoulder it was too dangerous to even try to pop the hood and save it.

Anyone else had a DSM spontaneously combust?? :confused: i am puzzled. mods were 16g 255 fuel pump 750cc injectors adjustable fuel pressure regulator ecmlink.. professionally tuned by a very reputable shop.

Dude!!! did you ever figure out what was the cause??? the fire fiters couldn't tell you what caused it or where it started?

Id be devistated if mine bursts into flames!!! :sosad:
 
About a week and a half ago I bought a 90 gsx i was told from the person that i bought it from noticed the temperature gauge rising a little bit so he pulls over and get the car towed back to his house and told me the only thing that was wrong was the head gasket was blown well get back to the shop pull the head off and it didnt support his story considering that it was seriously warped beyond repair had to find a replacement head and get it serviced and all the necessary items but i will be glad to hear it crank on wednesday hopefully

ohh bummer bro that sucks! I hate scammers! I got scammed too when I bought my current DSM
 
I always see this thread pop up but I never posted in this. For almost two years since I've have this car the only major problem I'm having is clutch slippage which was my part for not resurfacing the flywheel.
I'm starting to believe the dsm are headaches are a myth! Knock on WOOD!
 
Well ive had my 99 for awhile now, but when i bought it, it sat in my driveway for about a year untill i had the money to buy all the little things. So after doing all that i brought it to atx motorsports in ny to tune it and drove it all the way home, RAN perfect, found out my rear wheel bearing was bad, sounded like a spaceship. So im on my way to class the next morning cars mint as Hell, come back from class my boost controller was beeping, my batteries dead, the car has no power to turn it over so me and my boy had the great idea to push it and try to pop the clutch so im backing it out of the spot with my door up not looking, i backed the door into another car's bumper and it bent the door out bent the hindges out, put a nice dent in my quarter panel,than my tire blew out while doing about 70 blew the quarter panel off, and splash gaurds and almost flipped the car before i could even show anybody the car for the first time running in daylight, its all screwed up </3. my life

Bought my 93 for 700 bucks on R&R and we wont even go there.....
Bought my 97 gsx last week and am stuck in Click-clack-istan and wont be able to drive it for 6 months :(
