I have a 94 Z28, basically stock, besides KN intakes, corvette spec clutch kit, and Flowmasters. Its a 350, 6 speed, First day my paps gave it to me, I went out and spun and almost went into a poll.. It is fast, but I wouldnt spend a dime in it unless I spent a grand in my DSM:rocks:

had to get a new clutch, power transistor and now need an oil pan and turbo return line gasket due to leaking 4 months after buying the car

I bought a Galant VR4 a couple of weeks ago from Texas. The shipper drove the car on the trailer and later could not get it started. He tried to bump start it by backing the car off the trailer, but instead of having it in reverse he had it in a forward gear. The motor spun back wards and the timing belt jumped ( he didn't know it happened). He continued to try to get it started but had no luck. Thus all of the intake valves are bent. I am trying to get his insurance to pay for it but so far he is denying it to be his fault.
But how else can a car drive on the trailer and then never start again from the valves being bent. This may become a lawsuit.

when i got my first one it lasted about a month before the engine blew up on me it sucked cause i hadnt even paid my 1st payment one it so i spent 3 months rebuilding it as i could aford it the worst part is that i still had to pay my payments and insurance while it sat.
so now what do i do i buy another one as a project car with a knocking engine LOL i just wanted a cool car in the beginning but now im getting sucked in to the addiction LOL

i bought my car totaled when i was 14 but it drove, on the way to the body shop motor blew. new motor in and things were fine for a year or so until i got my license. tried racing a camaro, had to run from cops, fan melted itself off the shroud then decided to drive intoxicated and under the influence made it 80 yards and hit a fence, two days later trans mission goes out leaving me stranded 2 hours away. sold it then bought it back 3 months later, replaced trans/xfer case with evo3, get it running, rear brakes completely lock up on interstate. get that fixed rack goes out and have almost no steering, get it fixed and running good take it to see my gf 2 hours away and plugs, wires foul out leaving me stranded again, get it running and 2 weeks later ass**** pulls out in front of me while im doing 50 and stops, hit him head on and total it again. getting out of body shop tomorrow after a month and half of driving my escort :(

Started to turn left after yellow changed to green and my balance belt broke. Bent valves and the usual hardaches!OMG The good thing was there was a gas station right at the corner so I was able to coast in. But that's not all, two weeks later, the balance belt broke again ### I didn't set the tension right. This time I was parked in a parking spot and it broke when I started the car. Again, bent valves and all the trimmings!! A month ago, I did my timing and I damm made sure I had all the proper tools and triple checked everything.:thumb:

I had a rod go through the oil pan 2 days after I bought it from some punk kid. I drove it a total of 633 miles and 480 of those were driving home.

I spent the night at my womam's house. I live one street over from her and I usally take my car home and park it in my driveway and walk back to my girls house, but this night I was lazy and left my car parked on the street overnight. The next morning I get into my car, start her up, check my mirrors and BEHOLD the driveside mirror is all broken up. I shut off the car, exit the car to inspect the mirror and BEHOLD there"s a ding in the door. I continue to inspect my baby.(my car) and BEHOLD there's a nice dent in the fender. Now I'm so upset I blew chunks right then but it dosen't end there. I notice a big hole in the front bumper then it hit me, the sidemarker lens vanished, Dam it. when will my sufferring end but just then BEHOLD my bumper has a huge crack in it, f*&#. The moral of the story is never park your precious DSM on the street overnight especialy when your safe driveway is in walking distance.

ok heres my story the car i had before mine was a cavalier z24 so i end up recking that one and at the junk yard someone steals my whole stereo system out of the car....i never got reimbursed.. so we go car shopping and this is when i didnt even now you could mod an eclipse so i find a 97 eclipse n/t we buy it and i loved it well there was something wrong with the left wheel i dont remember what it was but it cost me 250 dollars to fix but i got it ficed there, so in driving home and tones of smoke comes out but its nothing major just a busted radiator hose(ive only had this car for 10 minutes) so i call someone to pick me up because its midnight then i make the 1hour drive back to the quick-e-mart on the highway i left it at and replaced the hose, so a few days later im driving and the car just dies so i look under and the alternator belt is busted so i fix that no big deal, so about a week later its raining the car stops again after a bang i manage to get it to pull halfway up a hill before dying, i have it towed to a mechanics shop and lucky me the timing belt broke, bent the vavles on cylinder one and i needed a new water pump all totalling 1500 dollars

Had to replace the brake pads, calipers, rotors, and drums within the first week. Previous owner didn't know to replace the pads when you hear grinding apparently.

Fast forward 3 years later:

new altenator
broken rack & pinion
numerous batteries
new headliner
new tires
dinged passenger door(some smacktards door)
scuffed rear bumper(some smacktard hit N run)
two license plate holes in front bumper
hail dents on roof
factory speakers blown
oil leak
swirl marks in the paint from brilo pad(friends brilliant idea to get tar off...)

but, all n all, I still love my DSM and want another one!

Well I have held off telling my story for a year now so enjoy.

I have also wanted a dsm for like forever. Blah Blah then my gf needed her first car so I convinced her to get a tsi awd 94. Drove it and had to get one no matter what the cost.

Her sisters current BF was really into dsms so he told me about his friends 91 talon awd he was selling for 800 bucks. I wanted it. So me and my friend woke up early on a sunday morning and drove to logan utah. Found brett the sisters BF and he was like yeah that car got impounded and his friend that owned it was a retard. But he was like my other friend in ogden is parting out his awd laser. I was like great I new I would end up with a laser. But I wanted to drive home a dsm that day. We drive like another 45 min to ogden and to alex's house and am like wow that is a pretty good looking laser. Brett said earlier that it was wrecked but not in parting out condition.

It was in pretty good looking condition 100,100 miles just dirty interior with questionable stains on the seats, and some intierior parts were not in there normal spots. Under the hood alex took off just about everything you can with a screw driver mainley the intake and radiator and hoses, battery. Easy stuff and I wasn't sure I was buying it yet. Also the drivers headlight was broke most of the way the carbon fiber hood was cracked and the hoodpins ripped out. the frame stuff behind the light was crushed in and touching the powerstearing pump. Ty my good friend, and I pull out the fender which was junked too and pulled out the frame stuff as best we could. Alex and brett put the engine stuff back in. Meanwhile this is in the 90+ heat in the shade less drive way. Everything gets back together after a couple trips to get missing parts and then alex goes for his last drive.

The lower rad hose blows off and we have to go save him up the road. We get that fixed and go back to alex's house and make sure stuff is in order and tape the carbon fiber hood down for the last time.I desided to buy it and I drive off with it never test driving it I just bought it. I go to get gas an while pulling out of the gas station it is starting to heat up. Bret was riding with me and he is like watching the rad temp go up so I am like I need to get moveing. We start going and it goes down. On the way home on the highway WHAAPP! loud bang glass every where and I am doing a tommy boy! The hood flipped up becaus the duct tape failed. It shattered my sunroof. but the windshield was ok. The hood took a 4 bolts and it was off. I just threw the piece of shit on the side of the road and left it. Now hoodless sunroof less and 2 windows down we are off. we drive back to bretts and park it and we are getting ready to go and it is sitting there idling. it had a hair line crack in the rad and all of the sudden it starts spraying out the top. I run to turn the car off and BAM! old faithful. the rad explodes. So luckily brett had a parts car and he gave me a radiator. It blew and over heated because the wrong fan was plugged in. So we got roll of electrical tape it was all we had and a rubbermaid lid and made a sun roof. We started home, with no hood a new radiator and a plastic lid for a sunroof. I managed to make it the 3 hours at 75mph home but while leaving my house friend ty in his 87 si hatch going domn my mile long bumpy driveway his a/c pump litterally fell out of the bottom of his car. So he asked if I would take him home in my ranger.

Alittle while later I found that they didnt put the back bolt in the bell housing in and it had cracked the bellhousing and I bought a new tranny and clutch.

Holy crap that musta been a hell of a day. I liked the rubbermaid roof that would be sweet. Mine wasnt near that bad but sucked none the less.

I always wanted a dsm and when I got my first one 5 years ago it was a buddies of mine who moved away to go to the military. He buys a new car and said that the cluch was acting up on his laser so he'd just give it to me if i wanted it. So I drive 1200 miles to get the car. The clutch master and slave was leakin really bad. Having no tools or a place to change the stuff there we decided to just try to make it home.

So here I am the trying to drive home. To select a gear I had to pump the cluch about 50x before it would work enough to get it in a gear. Had to stop at a few tolls on the way back. It was hella funny. I would roll up in neutral, pumping the clutch the entire time so when I left the toll I could hopefully make a couple shifts. Found out I could only make 2 so it was a 1st to 5th everytime. The worst part was that he didnt tell me that there was a leak, more like a severed wastegate hose LOL.

Every stop I made was a 1st........BANG (fuel cut), 5th. I made it home but i was rather funny. I hit fuel cut more that day than I have all together now.

This is my first DSM, and i have had it for nearly 3 years. Within a few hours of purchasing my DSM the car completely died. I got the battery recharged at autozone and then installed it and went back to have the alternator checked, it was putting out 2 AMPS!!! So i changed the alternator out and everything seemed to run fine...for a lil while. Latter that evening the car goes NUTS, everything electrical just fluctuating haywire. Call up the place i bought it from told them where the car was, they can either tow it back and fix it or im going to issue a stop payment on the car. Well they tow it back and in the process they manage to fry the ecu. Now my car is not only a 1990 but a CA issue one at that. A week later they locate an ecu and replace it in the car, still doesnt work. Fortunatly there was a performance shop right across the street, they spent a couple min looking over the car......shorted ground wire. So nearly 3 weeks after purchasing i finally had my dsm back. I was right on the edge to canceling the whole sale.

Even 3 years latter i still find stupid stuff that the previous owner(s) has done. Like not putting a bolt in the center spot for the lower timing cover, causing my belt to rub it; broken disconnected bcs (friend into DSMs spoted this one a week after i got it back THANK GOD); 2 missing bolts on transmission bell housing; and my recent discovery of no rubber spaces in the pivot arm of the shifter.

But dispite it all i LOVE my DSM and am a boost junkie!

Three weeks ago I put my car in the carwash were I work and went through with it, when I got to the end were the dryer is one of the other guys was holding my corner marker in his hands. I could'nt belive it was mine untill I got out and seen that it was gone. They payed for it because it was not prep'ed right. It took two weeks to get so I had to drive around with my cal looking like crap.:barf:

week before i get my talon from my mom the oil pan rusted through and oil pours out and she continued 70 miles with no oil. so my first car was given to me as a project. i loved it, didnt know much but basics of cars but after removing the whole long block and doing a rebuilt after it was machined was what really got me into the DSM world. haha if it wasnt for it breaking who knows i might still be "living my life one quarter of a mile at a time" haha. too bad i didnt know at the time the difference in the 420a and 4g63;)

The day I started putting money into it..........................................

Okay picking up my car I drove it half way home and reality finally set in, "####, I just paid 7800 for a Nightmare, IM an IDIOT!" :dsm:

I had my :dsm: Eclipse GST Spyder :dsm: ..

Just put in a t3/t4 turbo 60-1 agp and an sfp manifold with tial 38 mm waste gate, hard pipe intercooler, spearco fmic, 780 cc precision fuel injectors, apexi fuel controller 3 inch turbo back exhaust with apex n1 muffler.

I went to the Dyno and man, What a disappointing 75 Dynoed Wheel Horsepower.

I went home, and discovered one of the vaccum hoses weren't put in, and a clamp was not tight ..

a day later, went back to have it dyno tuned, I got a whopping 488 at the wheels...

and did 11.7 at 117 mph at the track

This was her:

ok, here's one for you: I recently bought a 95 Tsi with 191,000 miles (1st mistake). There isn't much to choose from where I live, so I took the bait for $4000 (2nd mistake). Then as I drove the car home (with absolutely no problems) I started thinking how nice this car was for the price. I mean it was in excellent condition, plus the head had already been replaced, plus with it being bone stock, I could build it from scratch the way I wanted. Well in the last month/1200 miles, I've spent about $1000 (3rd mistake) to replace
1) exhaust
2) battery
3) EGR valve
4) spark plugs
5) Timing belt
6) auto tranny service
7) front end alignment
8) replace front control arms/ball joints

This guy did an awesome job of fixing the car so it would last long enough for me to get it home. What a jerk!!
Once I'm finally done replacing all the parts on the car, I'll hopefully get it sold so I can get me a newer GS-T.

Sounds like normal maintenance to me.... did something grenade on it? The ball joints should be covered under recall to.
