What's that worst thing that happened to you when you got your DSM?

I bought my 95 6bolt gsx from a kid on dsmclassifieds. It was a 2hr drive, and drove the car home, and to a diner. Well needless to say after i just got done handing the kid 8900$ cash a bearing blew. Was the worst thing ever. I drove my car for 2 hrs. WTF

98 Started with a 91 gsx. My water pump went after owning for two weeks. Dang it this was the first car I ever bought from a dealership on my own!! Got it fixed and two months later had a girl pull out in front of me. Totalled hers needed a new fender and light assembly. Three months later hole in oil pan while going home seizes engine and kills turbo. So now two months later get the car back and two days later, OMG throw out bearing destroys tranny. Back to the shop and two weeks later I am the terror of US 77 for six months. Till a lady pulls out in front of me and comes to a stop. Both vehicles totalled but mine just needed a front clip. The Geo tracker... broken frame. Wouldv'e fixed it but being a PFC in the army never had the money. Fast forward to April 2004. I bought my 1995 esi as a happy divorce present to me. (wanted a gst but none for sale or just too expensive ) Have that for one month and it throws the accessory belt out of a light and my tranny gets stuck in 1st. Come to find that the interlock pin got sheared on my shift to 2nd. One month later get it back and it still throws belts. Bad tensioner pulley. Got that done. A week later dead battery and I don't know why. Alternator dead so got a new one. Damn this is seeming like my last DSM. All good after that till two months ago. No speedo. $300 later I find I'll have to drop the tranny and fish the gear out of the diff. And I need new tie rods. So today I take it to get a radiator flush and fill and oil change and they show me that the radiator upper hose housing is disentigrating!! Why do I put up with this? Because I love the car and I wanted it headaches and all. Even though I'm still looking to trade for a gst or a 3000GT sl. I just wanna kick my roomies Tiburon's A$$. Poor little slow car I love you! :talon: :dsm: :rocks:

i was driving my talon two days after i got, came to stop sign, stopped then car, then didnt go into gear. turns out the transmission had 2 bolts holding it on and a 3/8 socket in place of one of the bushings

I paid 1,600 for a 91 GS-T in good shape. I drove it around for about a month on and off. At the time, i didn't know much about DSMs. I drove about 60 miles somewhere and when I was on the way back the belt slipped. So now, I know how to replace the head, what all is involved, the torque specs and everything else from the block up. Just about every part I took off was reworked or replaced including ARP head studs and everything on the front of the engine....that along with 8 valves, the seats and reworking the head was about $800.

Tuning is another chapter.

Thank God I was going around 35mph. Prior to that I was going 60+ and the day before I was doing illegal things with my car.

4 hrs after i picked it up i was going to wendys to get something to eat at about 9:00pm. i was in a double turn lane and in the outside lane. the light turned green and the stupid 16 yr old girl in the inside lane went accross my lane cut me off and hit my drives side front fender. 2 months later leaving work in a 45 mph zone a car stopped in front of me and forced me to vear to the left, over corrected and ended up head on with a 1 ton truck. totaled the gsx and broke my feamur and spent a month in the hospital and so far 6 months of rehab. i can walk, but dont expect me to run or jump yet; my surgen says i should be fully recuped in a year.

That's the worst thing I've heard. Why must we all be cursed with this bad luck?

Whats the worst thing that happened when I got my Talon?! It was stock! NOw I got to find some cash to make it look and perform better. :talon:

So far, the last (And do I mean last) time some friends under the influence decided to paint my interior Coors Light.

spent about 1500 fixing the engine because oil pump was not putting out enough pressure and then when i get it back my tranny burns out after i picked it up and that was another 700 to fix :notgood: :talon:

I had owned the car about 2 days and my wifes car was torn up so I let her drive my car to the store, it was raining out and she had the headlights on when this jack@#$ got mad because they weren't going fast enough for him at the riteaid drive through and decided to throw his 4x4 in reverse and back over top of my car poor flip-up headlights were torn completely off. His insurance wanted to total my car for like $300 yea right.......LOL :notgood:

After 2 years and no problems with this Talon(white one) it jumped timing 3 teeth and did not even bend a valve( yea, I am lucky!!!).

I am amazed it lasted as long as it did, So far I am at $900 for all the new t-belt things and labor.

pulling out of the insurance agency 10 minutes after i got my tsi, WHAM. some jackass went flying around bumper to bumper traffic to tear half the nose off my car. then tried to blame me. WTF

a couple years ago I put a Turbo on a 96 RS, blew the engine shortly after. (Sold)

I pissed off the wrong person and got the windows of my 93 TSI bashed out (being replaced by FAL)

I also 'broke all 4 loose' infront of a cop, who claimes I broke traction on every shift. (Uh it was the BOV) Paying $500 for that now.

wheel stud snapped and stripped the lug nuts, causing my wheel to fly off on my 91 TSI. Crunched the fender and needed a new hub assembly.

Test drove my 95 talon, performed beautifully, had a 2.5 inch turbo back, k&N cone filter, and ran like a champ, boosted fine, handled fine, no crankwalk. Bought the car for 4400, bought it from one of those corner dealerships like an hour and a half from my house. bout 20 minutes from my house on the beltway the car starts smoking, im like uhh wtf. it stops smoking so im like ok maybe its just cause it hasnt been run in a while, i get home after it smoking some more and immediately begin trying to fix the problem. I do pcv valve, couple small things, then replace turbo when i find out it has shaft play and screeches when i spin it. I buy a used t25 for a temporary fix till i can afford a better turbo. well i take it to a shop to put it on because i couldnt get the turbo manifold bolts off. they put the new turbo on, i drive it home and POOF it still smokes like a banshee. Talk to the shop they say its probably a headgasket, i use some headgasket repair stuff and it still does it, then they tell me its valve seals, so i break down the motor and cant get the spring compressor i have to work so after a couple hours of frustration i look at the turbo and i decide to check it to see if by the off chance its bad. I pull of the LICP, boom flood of oil comes out.....###. So i conclude valve seals are fine and i put the whole motor back together. I fire it up and it runs perfect, im so happy, then a couple minutes later while im admiring my handy work, boom the timing jumps, turns out tensioner decided it didnt want to tension anymore, killed my valves. So now its at the performance shop getting a valve job, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, oil pump, headgasket, ARP headstuds, B16G turbo and 1g BOV, like a 2500 dollar repair total but its worth it.

hmmm... well lets see I drove my eclipse for a day then it started overheating the very next day, I had to replace the head gasket, water pump, thermostat, all four brake pads, clutch, and a bunch of other little stuff all in the second day I bought it... :notgood:    :barf:

but now its up and running and its a beast, and perfect :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

(1.) Nice little speeding ticket for 89 in a 35.

(2.) Two weeks after I bought my Talon, I was on my way to Bolivar and I blew a tire at 75MPH, thank god for AWD, or it could have been a lot worse.

(3.) After my tire blew, I had a friend run me a spare tire from his old parts car talon, and drove home. On the way home, apparently something mashed into the brakeline on my rear passenger side. Spring around the line came loose, dug into it, no brakes.

(4.) Drove my car about 10 miles up the road and back after putting a new intake on it, and did one launch about 1 mile away from my house, blew the BISS straight out of the TB.

Oddly enough, I wouldn't trade my DSM for the world.

not bad for 2500... hope you're getting new injectors and something to tune because if not then you're going to have to rip it down again soon!

i bought my car with a "bad oil pressure guage". i know, i know. that's stupid. anyway, i got my car home after a 1.5 hour drive and parked it. the next day i went for a drive and KABOOOM! The engine blew. less than 4 hours of drive time and i blew my engine. so i get that fixed only to find out my turbo also went out, along with the head gasket. so, a bad oil pump led to a new ENGINE, TURBO, and head work after only 4 HOURS OF DRIVING!

I was changing the belts etc.. on my 93 Talon, I took off the oil filter without draining the oil (knowing that only the oil in the filter would leak) to access the alternator bolts easier and without thinking I started the car to check for any squels on the belts as about 98% of my oil shot out of the housing to made the largest oil mess ive ever seen under a hood of a car.
