I just have a lazy mechanic who has almost no time to rebuild my car. Since I always had a second car it hasn't been a priority. He has taken a new job where he works 9-5 and my car is he says he'll work on weekends but hasn't in over a year. I don't want to sell it because I dumped too much money into this project. I might have to take RDRKT up on his offer and have his buddy finish my car because I want to race it at the next shootout.
Bout ####ing time bi***. Call me.

ok ,When i bought my 90 GS-T first what was happen, broke timing belt,so i got to fix them, cilynders and all valves too.So i spent 1750 for that sh*t.After that my turbo went out,to repair it it cost me another 900$,after that i broke my two pistons, and one rod, i don't know how was this happen but i got to pay another 1400$$$
so total i spent at that time 4050$,and car still runs like regular one,if i put that kind of money in my modifications,il'l be damn fast now LOL))

The worst thing was two days after I had gotten my talon was when I was sitting at a light in the turning lane and I hear screaching behind me. I look in my rear view and see this cadillac coming at me. He hit the brakes cause he wasnt paying attention and hit me at about 15-20mph. That slid me 1/2 car length forward into a honda civic. The guy in the civic took off through the red light and the guy who hit me pulled over to see what was done. He had no insurance and 2 busted lights as 4 me I scratched my new paint job!!! :talon:

I had just turned 16 and had $2500 to buy a car of my choice. So i get a bunch of autotraders and start to look. I came across a 95 eagle talon tsi. It was a turbo which was all i was after(killing my friends at the strip on Friday nights). I drive 4 hours to go test the car. I drove it and everything seemed fine so i bought it. On my way home about 45 miles down the road i hear a faint knock. I pull in to sears and check the oil, but everything was ok.I continue to drive the other 100 miles home as the noise gets worse. I pull into city limits and the rpm's drop to zero. Turns out i spun almost every bearing on the crank due to the loss of oil pressure. Now here i am learning something new everyday about the lifestyle i have adapted to, A dsm enthusiast. :thumb:

Last weekend I was driving back from my GF's house (3 hour drive) to meet my parents at my new digs (recently relocated for new job). An hour out of Corvallis the ignition module overheats and leaves me stranded on I-5 for 2.5 hours. It all worked out though. I'll be fixing it tomorrow... it'll be nice to boost again. I've been driving a Nissan Altima for the week... it's a drag.

I had hoped I would never see my car on a flatbed... but it only took a couple months.

well when I bought my dsm the first night I had it we went to test it against a gsr and the car sprung an oil lick really big good thing too bc the cops had just got there and where asking us if we where racing we said no of course look at the car is leaking oil how are we going to race like this got it fixed it was the oil filter was not put in correctly not thigh enough or something then the next time I took the car out was in the interstate doing 60 maybe and we get off on an exit 2 seconds later all I heard was a clclclclclclclcllclclclc and my gears would not go in and did I mention a clclclclclclclclcl (f$^%^$%^$%^) the engine up had to get a new one and a new clutch and then to top it of my mechanic did a timing belt change and did not change the tensioner it lasted 80 miles before it was back in the shop brand new engine rebuilt later for free of course and no more problems thank god :D

Bought my 90 talon n/t from some broke college girl for $120 Body was great, but she timing belt, so I towed it home. 2 days later got my motor put in. 3 days later a guy backed over the hood in a f150. Wooow what a week. But, I got a dsm after $1500 and a lot of work. I do more working on it than driving it but, I love every minute of it. dms's Gotta Love em. LOL :talon:

Bought my 97 base model Talon Labor Day weekend 1996. For the most part, Daisy's been super reliable and given me no grief whatsoever... until last Labor Day weekend, our 8 year anniversary.

Just clicked off 508 miles on a single tank of gas on a fully built engine, when the next AM, on my way to work, I noticed a clicking sound when I put in the clutch. Had a buddy take me to Autozone to score some oil (I was a quart low when I checked it in the parking lot before going in to work at 0500). Added the oil, let her idle, she sounded fine, proceeded to head home. Clicking returned at the first stop light. No towing coverage. Had to keep going (I know. Biggest ####ing mistake ever). Clicking continued to get louder, now even while under power and driving. Suspecting typical rod bearing bullshit, I parked it at the folks house and ordered new bearings. Replaced them in the driveway. Ticking still there. Engine had to come out, so across town to the fort she went, ticking all the way.

Upon pulling the engine, found wrist pin lock on #1 piston had failed and piston was wobbling on the rod. Cracked in several locations and scuffed all to hell. This all resulted from "something" putting a hole in the oil pan, causing oil starvation. Since I didn't issue myself a receipt when I dropped in the new engine only 14k prior, my insurance gave me the value of a 142k mile used engine on my claim. Managed to scrape together a full bottom rebuild with the original engine I pulled and replaced with the 95 block that had just died.

Then I waited five months for my pistons. She sat dead in my bro's backyard for a total of seven months. Talk about a suck fest. :notgood:

Fired her up back in April of this year. Three days later, punched a hole in the bellhousing when the clutch bolts all failed on me. Rebuilt tranny and patched bellhousing. Three days later, output shaft bearing failed in the tranny and we rebuilt the tranny a second time.

She runs great now. At least I can tell people I made a single tank of gas last 508 miles in town, and then made the next tank last 7 months. :sneaky:

very similar to the first story, driving home with my talon on the freeway at 75 (ok so what if i was going 10 mph over the speed limit...) and the mustang in the fast lane starts to slow down, (shes in front of me) so i go to change lanes to the right and accellerate, and the lane next to me is clear, but once i get half way in between the two lanes, i look in my rear veiw mirror and see a dodge ram coming down at like 100 right for me.... i didnt want my talon to get hurt so i swerve back to my lane, and look forward to see my car hitting the mustag (i swear to god i hit her, theres no way i didnt) and slam on the brakes... all the way from 75 to 25 im riding her bumper thinking of all the damage done to my new car..... i hate traffic..... not only did i have to drive home scared shitless, but i had to do it at 25-30 mph traffic on the freeway...

ANYWAYS

got home and theres no damage.... and i could have sworn the dodge hit me too, but he didnt....

1. Getting it instead of a Honda :thumb:

2. Same day that I bought it, a coolant line burst on the way home. Thankfully I made it back before anything melted, but I had a nice trail of green stuff up my street, lots of burnt coolant smoke under the hood, and a huge puddle in my driveway.

3. One week later. When removing the stock exhaust to replace with a catback, I notice that the previous owner (or some hack shop) left one of the hanger bolts loose and it was scraping on the driveshaft, carving a nice big grove into it... So that's what that rattling noise was. I also found that the oil pan is badly dented in multiple places and the gasket is leaking like it was designed to... still haven't fixed that.

4. 3 Days ago. Masshole minivan driver tries to make an opening in traffic right in front of me (when will they learn to drive?), forcing me into the large and unmovable FX45 in the other lane. Total damage, I get the entire driver's side fender smashed in (thankfully missed the headlight and side marker) and a gouged/scrapped rim, he gets a scratch the will easily buff out and a microscopic nick in his huge chrome rim. FX45: 1 GSX: 0 The masshole drove away fast and no cops were called = my car doesn't get fixed.

well me being a guy got obssesed over a turbo and an intercooler so naturally i bought the 91 talon tsi awd for $2500. don't get me wrong it was the greatest car ive ever owned including two other dsms until the axle broke. After the axle broke is broke the oil sending unit then the transfer case then two of the motor mounths went. after the axle broke the transmission fluid leaked out but i drove it anyway (not realizing the problem yet) which killed my throwout bearing and my suspension in the rear was bad in the first place. AND then i found out the screw spring and ball bearing in my boost controller were missing my piston rings were shot because boost hit somewhere near 22psi on stock everything (i wasn't paying attention). long story made short i just sold the car for $1000 to some sucker, who apparently like me got the "turbo goggles" on (similar to beer goggles but with cars", i ate my $1500 loss and am anxiously awaiting my next turbo DSM ;)

Yay I got another one. My car has been leaking gas for the last week (just found out yesterday), all the way to boston and all the way back and for the 100+ miles I put on around here. The idiots that did the swap used 3/8" fuel hose to connect to the low pressure side of the FPR and then tried to clap it really tight (not tight enough) onto the hard return line on the firewall which is obviously meant for 1/4". One trip to auto zone and home depot later... and its fixed... for now...

1 week after i got my 91 gsx the radiator blew...1 week later the timing belt broke. and then more things broke....i have had the car for almost 2 years and it has sat more broken more than it has been running....but i still love it!!!!!! ROFL

also 1 year ago a guy backed into the front end totaling the car out...his insurance gave me 2900 for it and i kept it...replaceing the hood and a few other things to get it looking right...it's sitting in the garage being stripped out and ready for the track. i can't wait to get it running.

I was driving my sister to church and burned out it the parking lot. Then on the way home I came it gas. I was going 120 in a 55. I hadn't put the came in my name or insured it yet. I pulled onto a highway and started to over heat, I pulled over and popped the hood. Tons of smoke and steam rushed out. one good thing was I had a thing of water. I started to go to my girlfriends house, but I over heated again. I was pissed I just bought the car 2 hours ago. I went to work and bought a new upper hose and overflow tank. now she runs like a bat out of hell.

:dsm: :thumb:

Damn clutch slave cylinder went out on me while I was on the freeway, one week after buying the car.

The day after i bought my car found out the oil pan was crushed fixed that, a month after that flywheel shattered and found out the head was warped, and then some other stuff like rusted exhaust, valve cover seal was bad, needed an oil change, new thermostat. nice huh. :dsm:

Driving my car from school 1 day i get a flat (im 1 hour 30 min from home stuck on the side of a 4 lane interstate). My cell phone runs out of minutes so i have to spend $20 on my credit card to purchase them. Just as the transaction goes through I lose service and my phone dies. After hitch hiking back and forth for 6 hours I finally get ahold of my parents to bring my spare they bring it and i dont have the tools to remove my aftermarket rims. I have AAA but it wont cover my modified car because of a body kit. They want me to sign a waiver since theyll tear it up putting it on a flatbed. I say no. So i get it towed on a wrecker. 10 hours later I get home. Finally I get to drive my car. 3 days later im driving to school, on the way home the car just makes a BANG and dies. I get it towed once again by AAA to a local mehachic. Turns out its the timing belt. It took out the head and lost compression in all 4 cylinders. Time for a new rebuild. Motor gets rebuilt. Get my car back 4 weeks later after several of the wrong parts are sent. I go for my 500 mile oil change and take it to a local shop. They put too much oil in it, the exhaust manifold cracks, and shoots antifreeze everywhere, the whole car shakes. Once again "AAA" to tow 1 hour 30 minutes to my engine mechanic. Had to take the body kit off since all they have is a flatbed. Now i sit here 3 weeks later after the wrong turbo manifold was shipped from california. So i wait. Maybe someday I'll get to drive my car again.

I rolled it!

The only bad things that happen to me was a smile in every gear for the first few miles then started to rain. The car befor my Talon was a Fiero, bad setup in the rain and didn't know how the talon would ride in water, so I babied it with a frown.

Had to fix a leak in right front tire...and slight water damage to the paint on front bumper, but its fiberglass so it doesnt matter.

Oh and the clutch felt quite different after I let my mom drive it. She drove it again last month, but that was the least of my worries...I'd gotten carsick, while driving
:tease: me

She hasn't driven manual transmission in 20 years though, so bearing that in mind, she didn't do that badly.

I bought my 97 :dsm: GST from my mechanic, by the time I got it to my house it would not go into gear, so I had it towed back to him. Turns out it was his first eclipse that he has ever worked on! So when he put the new clutch in he did something wrong, but when I brought it back he easily fixed it...... The first time I drove it after bringing it back from the shop was to school the next day. I go to UCF and live like an hour from campus so drives are very nice. But on this first trip I got pulled over for "racing". But with my luck the cop ended up being a good from of my best friend and when I showed up for court he had the judge dismiss the case!!!!!!!! Boy am I lucky.........Oh ya and no problems since!!
Oh ya, I almost forgot the best part of it all, I gave him my 92 civic with 255,000 miles on it! and $2,000 for the GST!!!!!!!!!! It had water in the back where the spare tire goes and the car smiled like, well you can guess what it smelled like!!!! So I cleaned out the water and there was no rust and no water ever came back in, well except for when I open the hatch up after it has rained, but I just keep a rag in the car to wipe that little bit up each time. And some guy offered to buy it off me for $7,500 but I told him I wasn't ready to sell yet.

when i bought my 91 tsi it had a bad tranny in it, so i bought a rebuilt trans from a nice guy who had the papers too for 300$ only to find out it had a blown center diff he wasnt telling me about

i got a 92 eclipse with a jdm motor in it for 1800....the guy wanted 2500....well i knew the paint wasnt in the best condition and the interior either...and the engine was outstanding...well he had brought it to my house and there the deal was made....i took it for a drive just a quickie and i notice third grinded a little but i htought that it was just me on the clutch....well i was wrong...the synchro was worn out.... i bought another tranny with a stage 3 clutch and have yet to put it in..... :dsm: :rocks:

Got my first car, which is a 98 Talon AWD on Sept 7th.

Clean title and all that crap, 111k miles

Started noticing that there are things that don't add up. Front bumper was repainted, side marker missing, just noticed the passenger side headlight's mounting thing is busted and it shakes. There's a buckle in one of the structural welds, structural rust in the engine bay near the struts from the inside out supposedly.

Oh, and learning how to drive standard. Drove it to school the day after I got it, stalled 4x one of the busiest streets in my town, with a school bus of my piers right behind me. ROFL

So I'm selling my 2g awd for a 1g awd and use the extra money to start modding (assuming there's nothing that is wrong with it)
