So i got my 1990 Talon :talon: N/A and it had a newly rebuilt motor. I got it registered on a tuesday and drove it for 6 days with no problem, car ran like a champ. On the 7th day i am driving to work, i start to down shift at a red light and once i hit second gear my car just dies on me and wont start back up, i thought it was a dead batt. so i called my friend to come help me, as soon as i get off the phone a cop pulls up behind me( i am stuck in the left lane of a major highway) and tells me he got a tow truck for me, just to get towed 2 blocks cost me 65 bucks, then i later find out that my timing belt sumhow skipped a tooth, when i check it out more and take my timing belt covers off one of my tensioners falls out, i look at the bolt, what ever ###hole rebuilt the motor never used the original bolt and the pulley walked out, i bent every single valve and scratch up my pistons, the shop couldnt even rebuild the head cuase the sleeves were all cracked, so i got a new head and just picked it up, 450 dollars later i figure :thumb: my first dsm. :thumb:
 
First DSM problem.... Just bought the car noticed timing belt was worn.. had to have that replaced $600. Second.... one month later December 23, ring blows apart need to rebuild engine. Mechanic that I take it to keeps car for 7 months!!!!!! Get the car back need to replace throw-out bearing... one week later needs axles.....after that transfer case leaking....and then tie rod ends.... This all in about a year and a half of owning the car I drove it probally for about 2 or 3 months not all at once, but I wouldn't trade it for anything :)
 
well, i just bought my talon tsi two weeks ago, and so far I have only driven it for about 5 days. It took a while just to GET the car, but i'll leave that out just to save time. When i got the car i drove 5.1 miles to my brothers apt. cause it was at night, the car had no headlights, and it was halloween night, dont ask. the next morning I go to pick it up, its fine. I drive one more mile making it a grand total of 6.1 miles and the belt hooked up to the alternator begins to rip. Sigh, now my wheel studs are broken due to rust, power steering is leaking, and throttle position sensor, (and maybe even oxygen sensor) need to be replaced. DSM's Gotta love em!
 
Id have to say my timing belt breaking.. but somehow not damaging any of my valves... lucky me!
 
A few months after I bought the GSX, the center diff. exploded and tore up my tranny real bad. With the dsm being my only transportation and not having the money for a new transmission, I bought a used tranny. Installed new clutch while I was at it. Transmission now has a crack in it and is leaking.
 
I was driving on the highway racing with my friend in his 94 integra gsr. im in front going around 120mph, hes trying to keep up. A slight bend came up on a slight downhill. The previous owner had my car dropped so I made the turn. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw my friend's car skidding sideways. Im freakin out thinkin "oh F*CK!" and see his car flipping over! Im yelling "no that didnt just happen!" and im freaking out and make my way back. Cops, fire trucks, and ambulances are already there. My guy walked away with a scratch on his elbow and bump on his head. Im happy to see him ok but then as im talking to him i see his car in the backgound on its roof. Im thinking "damn i just bought my car not even 30 mins ago and look at what happened this is seriously F*cked up!" Cops start asking me questions and searching while I have my tobacco pipe in my coat pocket. Luckily they dont find it, like theyd care ;) , but write me six tickets and put me in cuffs. So much for the enjoyment of buying a dsm.
 
I had had my car for about 20 minutes and was driving it home the other night. Traffic was really bad and kind of backed up on the highway. "people tend to drive like idiots when this happens instead of relaxing" :rolleyes: Anyway I'm not sure exactly what happened but I think a car cut in front of me to get off on the exit lane, then they had to slam on their brakes to keep from hitting the car in front of them. I was driving along at normal speed "about 45" when it happened. I ended up about 2 feet probably from their bumper. It scared me sooo bad. I haven't been in a wreck and I didn't want to start with my eclipse!
 
I liked it and wanted to go faster. So im currently poor.




car #1: Timing belt broke needed new head. I was driving out west and the stock turbo died. Then I had a bad gas leak. Then a bolt fell into the timing belt so I needed a new one agian. Oh yeah, not knowing anything about cars at the time and just reading on the internet about how the stock blocks can handle 400+hp, so I made a boost controller, cranked it up to 18psi on a big16g with stock everything minus a fuel pump. Oh yeah that was on clark 89 gas. Then the power steering pump locked up. I could continue but thats enough on that one.

car #2 quality install of a turbo timer from the previous owners would cause the car to just shut off randomly on the highway and while trying to turn left on busy intersections. After I sold it the new owner told me eventuly all the wireing under the dash caught on fire and needed to get replaced. But atleast by this point I knew alot about cars, so mechanicly it was all good.

car #3 running perfectly besides being on tranny number two, when the bearing at the bottom of the 4th gear shaft exploded in my trans that was fun.
 
i bought my 1995 Eclipse about 3 years ago. 3 days after i bought it the trany went out. so it sat in the shop for 3 weeks. then i finaly got it back. ran great for about 3 months then started dieing again. took it back to the dealership just to find out that the dealership had shut down. so i was stuck with a broke down eclipse. i got it running again after about 6 months. it ran ok for a few more months then again broke down. now it has been sitting in my garage ever since. :thumbdown
 
About 700 miles after buying the car, the TOB on my stock clutch siezed melting part of the bell housing (right at the input shaft). It also managed to mangle the spline teeth on the shaft somehow too. You can see the heat marks on the case if you look close. (needed new tranny + clutch, oh well, 2600 it was)

P.S. Yes, you can see how the little tabs that hold the little metal o-ring style part of the case on the TOB are sticking out. It did this while selfdestructing, no human effort did this. Both the end cases on it were MIA. What you also don't see is that the TOB is not totally flat anymore, it is in a sort of spiral.

This is my first car, just got it 2-3 months ago(purchased while unemployed) hahah

First day I get my car, Coolant hose bust on me, Almost overheats.
then it starts idle surging as soon as I get it home, Put new hoses on, still idle surging

then I have another hose bust on me, So then thats when I basically replace every hose that has to deal with the coolant.

1 week later a Buddy ask me if i wanted to go to the track I was like yeah sure, So I get on the highway and he sparks up a blunt, So I'm just driving and was smelling something kinda wierd so i was thinking its probaly just the blunt but I look down just to make sure and the temp. is PAST red, So I just turn it off, jerk it off the highway, pull e brake stop it, smoke pouring, So at this point I know i'm ####ed. Rad. hose and mult. small coolant hoses are busted once again, So I have no phone, No water, etc., So I have to wait let it cool down, drive it some, cool down,drive it some etc.

So I get to a store buy lots of water and hose tape, tape it up works well for a little bit, get it fairly close to home and I just park it for the night, go back in the morning, milky coolant on the ground (me thinking ####), So i just replace the hoses and see whats it going to do, "oh its driving fine, temp great and everything", So I flush out the coolant, fill it up, check oil(oil is fine, no water,no milky), runs great,going down the road I hear a noise and it just starts pouring smoke, so I pull over and what do you ####ing know the damn rad broke off where the rad. hose goes on, so i get a new one and over time it gets milky again in the coolant so I didn't have a job so my mom finds this stuff on the internet www.rxauto.com its this stuff for like 100 bucks that is susposed to repair cracked heads,cracked blocks,blown hg's, so she buys that I put it in it, runs real good, then i start having starter problems, but I found out that if I beat on it with something it will start, so I do that for awhile until it just totally fails, come to find out I was missing one bolt, the other bolt was broke off into the starter, so I still have no job, convice my parents into getting me a starter, get that fixed and I notice my lights are dimmer then normal, so I check all the starter connects and everything and assume its good, well I get a battery and my lights get brighter again, but wtf my normal lights don't work, but my brights do, so I drive like this a couple days and then I'm going up a hill and it just cuts out like a boost leak, "####ING ALT." so I find a 2 month old one for 20 buciks, get that put on, great running good, well it was running good for a little bit then the other night my car started overheating again SO i parked it and milky coolant is just flowing out of the overflow, so now its parked and broke down. But It will be getting fixed right after christmas, But I did find me a job, so now I can support my dick sucking machine.

and on top of everything the mother ####er is STOCK.
 
About two weeks after I got my Spyder, i was taking off from red light, crossing an intersection, an out of towner ran the stoplight. Luckily she zigged in the opposite direction that I did. We came within inches of hitting each other. I was pissed :mad: . But luckily no contact. :)
 
The year was 1999 And I had just purchased a beautiful 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T (My first 2nd generation vehicle). It was perfect in every aspect, I would detail the car for literally 3 - 4 hours a week.

That same year myself and my ex girlfrield had broken up from a very long and sad relationship (I ended the relationship) which sparked some kind of crazed lunitic inside this lady.

I had gone out with two of my best friends to watch a movie to cheer up, I had parked my car "Aways" from the theater (we dont want anyone touching the car now, or dinting it).

We slowly make our way walking back / laughing and having a damn good time... When my friend's faces drop I take one look and start screaming (running to kelly, that was the car's name).

Front windshield completely destroyed, passenger side window / driver's window both destroyed / Rear hatch area windshield destroyed, Front hood / both fenders bashed in / with a sharp knife all over the car 1" inch depth cuts of sayings of my name "die die die" on the hood a nice message " #### yourself now and die" / all four tires completely bursted / all leather seats ripped open / sub woofer box enclosure and both sub woofers cut open / deck broken car spray painted on the inside with a waxy / corrosive material which ate at the plastic panels.

Three bodyshops did estimations ranging from 11 000 to get this 19 000 :) The car was written off obviously , I ended up getting a lot of money from this lady and a good old fashioned .......... Restraining order :)

After I bought my car I found out so much of the "dark side". Pretty much my lower radiator support is bent, the hose is kinked, and the side panels were pretty much crap.
 
i didn know there was water in the cooling system, in 1 month when wintertime came the whole sys just froze, and the radiator cracked, plus the water pump went out :rolleyes:
 
Well.... my upper control arm and lateral arm are all messed up and i need a camber kit too..... Exactly $823.25. Yeah.. i have had my car for a good few weeks and i still have to pay that off
 
My patience was too thin, and if I would have waited 3 more weeks, I could have gotten an EVO for 22k. :thumbdown:
 
The day I bought my 92 TSi (which was a little over a week ago) I got it home and it started spewing coolant out the overflow reservoir later that day. Had to replace the t-stat since the old one was stuck open. The car is now bogging in higher rpms and needs a few little things replaced. Not really all that bad, but kind of annoying that it happened the day I brought it home.
 
i bought a 1995 GST and had it for about a week...one day getting onto the freeway i go from 4th to 3rd...my rpm's went upto maybe 3500rpm i peg it go into 4th by now im at freeway speeds top of 4th gear (6000rpm highest i ever took that car) i hear a pop and a noise that will make grown men cry...crunching noise right away i knew somethin wasnt right i make my way to the side of the road smoke pouring out the back of my car...i pop the hood and all i see is a mess of oil and smoke...i automatically know it is gonna be expensive...i look under the car at the oilpan yup dents and leaks...

so my one and only motor i have blown on accident...i picked the car up for $3000 so i wasnt too pissed i stripped the interior saved many of the parts(still have a nearly complete 2g interior) saved the tranny and pretty much every part that was salvagable...rims tires everything! insurance gave me $3500 for the car so i wasnt complaing one bit!

round two...

my 2g na it was fresh out of the paint shop(i had it for a few weeks by then...been back from california from getting the interior done a week earlier...i had gotten my bodykit on shaved handles...it was done finally!!!!took it to a friends house and we kind of just talk about it and stuff...at the time i had a suspended license so i really wanna get it home before it gets dark...we make are way to my house the clutch felt like there was nothing to it...im slowing down for a stop light 3rd...2nd... first wont go in so i think nothing of it...my buddy lines up next to me and starts revving i put it in first and start revving light turns i let the clutch out and i go nowhere...so i put it in second nope...reverse nope...so i get out of the car cursing it and myself...i push it to the side of the road luckily it was real close to a bunch of houses...didnt wanna be on the side of a really busy street...my buddy turns around and comes back to see what was up...he pulls up sees me pissed at my car i pop the hood and get out keys in ignition(yes both sets) running...windows up...close my door...the second i hear it close i am like DAMNIT! so motor running im already pissed at the car im debating putting a rock or something threw the window...then i think better of it...pull my spark plug wires car dies disconnect power and ground...run to my house and got a hanger to try and break into my car...well we get back to the car and i am trying to get my door open with the hanger(no plates are on the car btw) who pulls around the corner at that time...none other then john law...so im like great can anything else go wrong...red and blues...a quik convo with my buddys one has decided to say its his car(he has a license)he asks what i am doing i said trying to get into my buddys car that broke down...he cant figure out why im trying to break into a car that my buddy owns...then we explain the shaved handles and the keys and popper being in the car...he laughs and says some stupid racer something or other while walking to his car...he leaves...im furious by that point and pull on my window prying it away from the sill i get it open enough to get my arm in there and the door open wheww back in car...we hook it upto a tow strap and my buddys car we tow it to my house...have it running windows up(yup both sets are in there) my jackass buddy closes the door...im so pissed by that time i just pull spark plug wires and power ground ect...walk inside for the night and decide to deal with it the next day...

take it to the clutch shop the next day...they pull off the tranny inspect the clutch it has grenaded????never heard the term...so i asked to see the clutch there was fabric sticking out everywhere...it gets better...slave cylinder is out...transmission mount broken it gos on and on...total comes out to 1100dollars(they told me 700)...they had to wait for parts...took about a week total...i go to pick it up with 700 bucks...they tell me it is gonna be 1100 im like damn...i dont have the rest they say its cool i cant take the car and pay me when i could this was a thurs. i got paid the next day so i was like ill be back...i go back and pay them and thank then for understanding my sit. and letting me take the car...i go back and pay for it...

a trip to paradise! all surrounding my love for these cars....
 
I'm doing 90+ on the fast lane in the middle of the day with medium traffic flow on interstate 10 (4 lanes), all of a sudden I hear a loud thumping noise and five seconds later I'm holding on to the steering wheel correcting a hard left pull wich is about to introduce me to Mr. Center Divider.
There is smoke everywhere and traffic slows down... I start merging trough the slow lanes and still manage to pass on the left an old lady doing about 40ish. I make it across the fwy with no negative outcome other than the load in my pants.
Got off the car and saw the complete passanger side suspension turned in side out with a abroken lower ball joint. fender, hood, front bumper, right axle and right head lamp busted.
Towed it to the local shop kissing good bye my pay-chek when to my surprice it turned out to be a Manufacturer recall item and had my 95 GST back like new ....

Then 6mo. later I get the dreaded walk. Got a jdm engine and blew the turbo not once but twice I've had the car for a while and would'nt trade it for nothing.
