I'm fairly new to the dsm scene, and would love some feed back from you die hards.
I have about 600$ to spend on the car this week.:shhh:(dont tell the wifey)
I was leaning to a FP manifoldhttp://store.forcedperformance.net/PROD/EMFPRace.html
and a new shinney dump pipe.
Or a SS intake manifold. (little knowledge on this)
But i thought to myself,.....I could use a DSM link to help me tune.(cause it needs it). But I am a bit iffy on the link system due to my lack of experience.
I am open to any intelligent sudgestions on what I should be doning here.
Thank you in advance.

I would get one thing link, invest in it the forums are great, read, watch the demos, and youll be just fine, kinda hard to destroy anything, but think about what your doing, so many use it. Its a great platform to learn from so i would get it and get started it can help you along the way in so many ways, a great price if you ask me when you look at what you get, i went from the maft to link, never used any safc, flashed ecus stuff none of that. But others will chime in.

if you have the money for link i'd really recommend buying it. i've never used it but i've seen tutorials and it seems very user friendly and really easy to understand. no point in having all these mods if you cant control them somehow.

I'm starting to feel the same way. thanks.

Does anyone know the best place to pick up everything I need for a dsm link?
Or any other ideas on linking systems that I might get more for my $$$
Still open to other options as well.

Got mine from sbr, but any vendor has close to the same price, look at ecmtuning.com also.

I am reading over the ecm site. Seems very informitive. :thumb:
Thanks

Link v3
fmic
set of arp's

Sorry, forgot about my FMIC. (revised)
I'm looking at v3 right now. But I am unaware of what kind of 550's I have installed. And I also do not know much about maft systems. And if I should or should not go with a gm maft....etc

arp's....you mean engine studs?
Cause next year I plan on internals....so I'll do it then.

Front mount intercooler, ecmlink, bigger injectors and a bigger fuel pump.Should be able to get that big 16g at about 19-20psi for 300whp range. If you are still runing the stock 1g o2 and exhaust manifold I would just save the money and get ported 2g o2 housing and 2g manifold or a evo3 exhaust manifold but keep the 2g o2 housing and port it.You won't really need the fp manifold it will save you some money.

Windows yes, lite is just fine for your set up, you can always upgrade later, lots of nice features. Speed density nice one to have.

If you plan on going serious with this car I would just save yourself the time and get the full version, because at some point you are going to over run the stock MAF and you are going to find yourself eyeballing speed density and that isn't covered in the light version. Go big or go home right?

I sent it out, get full if you do get sd, for now lite will be all you need to get, once you learn more about link, it will help you learn sd. One thing at a time.

going big:thumb:

If your ordering it new, be sure to tell them what maf/sd set up you want to run so they can include the proper cable.

What fmic are you using? Could you easily add a gm maf between the bov and the throttle body?

yes i could. but from what i read.... its not nessessary?
and its a 2.5 inch piping, and a 3 inch intercooler.
maf and sd set up? ??? stock maf and stock sd?

Sorry i meant what maf if your running one or if you were going speed density(SD). Couple options, 1g maf, 2g maf, evo maf, gm 3" maf, or no maf(SD).

I like speed density personally, but my car is also not my dd and only driven in the summer so i dont have any elevation or weather changes to deal with.

My friend prefers the gm 3" maf and hes had good success(350+whp) on a couple cars now.

I use the gm maf sensor for now until i get all my sd stuff together this spring. Four years ago

dynoed the tsi around 430hp.

I used the stock 1g for around 6 or 7 years, then i got the maft set up, but its restrictive, and ugly LOL.
