ok I've done some reasearch and there doesnt seem to be a deffinate answer. MAF translator or SAFCII, I only have funds for 1 so its either or, Im pretty sure im going to get the safc but if it would be advantagaus for the maf then this is what i would like to hear input on. I have a 98 gsx, putting on a big evo III 16g this weekend i will be running 550cc injectors, a walbro 255hp. Which one would be a better choice. (note) I know i can vent with the gm maf, it is not nessacary but i like the idea of slapping a turboxs rfl on my car, and scarring some grandma driving next to me :D , plus i hear it helps with spooling but that wont be a problem i should be spooling like mad anyways because i have ported my manifold, and o2 housing and i will be using a ported 14b exhaust housing so im hoping for full bosst some where between 3400-3600. I wll only be running about 11-12 psi for now I dont like to try to kill my engine :).

you should be fully spooled way before that anyhow. i honestly would suggest the maft, because you can set the base knob for injector size and then you can tune with the low mid and wot knobs, the maft also goes as far as rpm tuning mode just like an afc, like you stated you can vent but what else you probably didnt think of , is any boost leaks before the maft which is usually right at the tb, wont hurt your tune nearly as much because its not metered air yet,. not to mention the 3" gm maf flows amazingly more then even the 2g maf.

hope this helps

You will have a little finer tuning capabilities with the AFC. If you are going to run a 255 and 550's you WILL need a Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) so that you do not over run your injectors. Hope that helps.

oops I forgot to mention that i will not be getting the walbro unitil i have enough money for it and a fpr. Sorry about that. Basically I would just like the car to run throguh the winter as a daily driver, with this set-up I am going to run as low as boost as possible until it starts warming up again. But the biggest issuse is the injectors and the afc, I am thinking of using some 560cc off an evo 8. Any other information will be gladly appreciated, I like to hear everything and calculate the best of the best before jumping in on anything, whcih is why I got a dsm. :) plus on my 14b i beat a 5.0 mustang last weekend he was pissed LOL.
