For my goals, what's the best setup?

I want a reliable DD (I drive an average of like 75 miles a day) I want around 350whp, give or take a bit.

My thoughts are either the evo III 16g with 660's, safc2 or dsmlink, fmic, and a 190

my other idea is either the evo3 or a 50trim with 860' or higher, dsmlink, fmic, 255 with fpr

the main choice I'm trying to make is either the 50 trim or the evo3. This will determine what injectors I need, and what tuning I will need. I am almost fully decided on DSMLink, if I end up getting link, i will get at least 860 injectors since dsmlink can fully compensate for that. This way I won't have to worry about fuel upgrades later on.

So, what if I get dsmlink, 860s or higher, evo3, fmic, 190, that seems like a good setup to me. Is the 190 too weak? Someday in the future I might want a bigger turbo, but that all depends on how well my 7bolt handles this setup

(I have the rest of the supporting mods needed)

any input is appreciated?

My goals are to hit 12.99 or better sometime, and I'm FWD.

I would suggest the 255 pump. When I had my 95 I ran the 255 with a 16G(small) and never had a problem. If you wanted to upgrade later that would be one less thing to do(re-do) not to mention the fact you would have to buy 2 pumps. I think the 16G is a more tame turbo for daily driving. I can's attest to your ET's in a FWD car and what mods are required from personal experience. I can tell you that a 12.99 on a 16G(small) is poss in an AWD with the EVOIII 16G you should be able to hit that with what you are planning.

Keep in mind, you will most likely need an AFPR with the 255lph pump.. I overran my stocker with the 255, put on the Aeromotive one and the problem was solved. The evoIII will get you to 350 on pump with a very good tune, you'll need a FMIC- you said you had the rest of the supporting mods, but that one is integral. Mild cams would be a good idea too with a 350hp goal. If you want an easier tune, the 50 trim reacts very well to pump gas, as it pushes more, cooler air. You will reach your goal easier with a 50trim, and you will be able to reach higher than your goal with it as well. With either setup I would go with DSMLink, it's an amazing tool.

All that said, the evoIII is a great turbo- it'll pull hard as hell and spool very quickly. The "50 trim" will push a lot of cold air, and you can basically decide what you want between top end and spool based on all the options out there. Either one will make you a very happy dsm'er, just use the turbo you decide on to make the choices on your other parts.

Thanks for the info

one question: will the 190 support the 350hp i want out of the evoiii? Since reliability is a major issue, I've decided on the evo3, 50% sure

Yes, the 190lph will support 350hp. I would also go with the 660s with the evo; even with global/deadtime compensation, I personally am always more comfortable using components sized correctly for the rest of my setup. Use the money you save on injectors and the AFPR to help get you some cams and let 'er breathe mang!

You don't need the AFPR with a 190 pump and 660s for a Evo III 16G turbo.

Right.

He'll save on 680s vs. 880s, and if he gets the 190lph he won't need the afpr. That money (AFPR would have been a sunk cost with the 255, and he doesn't need the bigger injectors for the evo) can be put towards cams. Sorry if I was unclear.

here's my dilemna

evo3 with 190 and 660's sounds great, but if next summer I want something a bit more powerful (who knows), then I'll have to redo the system. At least if I get 860s or even higher, I won't have to worry about that, not to mention they only cost like 30 bucks more.

Well, with 860s, you'll be running much lower duty cycle, which is good for the injectors, and DSMlink will be able to compensate for them. That sounds like one good way to go.

For me, since I'm not money-conscious, and I don't think about what may happen in a year, I would go with the 660s, as they are more than sufficient for the evoIII, and a perfect match for it.

The decision is yours, and either way will work- you'll be happy either way.

IF you might want a more powerful turbo in a year or so, just the 860 injectors won't cut it. You'll need a bigger fuel pump 255 and a FPR. The 190 will not provide enough fuel for the bigger turbo even with the 860s. If you don't know that the evo3 will be your last turbo, get the 860s, 255 and AFPR. :thumb:

I run 22-23psi on pump gas daily with my 50 trim, I have a 190 on the stock wire and 650's.

That being said, I would suggest you go with the 50 trim from the beginning. The Evo 3 will get you 350whp with all the supportings mods, but that won't be 350 daily driven, only on race gas and high boost. The 50 trim on the other hand should be quite capable of delivering 350whp on everyday settings.
