It just a simple question that you didn't have to be part of, why you even wrote in this thread?????? and how is it worse then (can I beat this guy) I clearly asked (What would I need to beat a COrvette) I don't know whats sooooo stupid about that, I left one dsm forum thinking this one would be better, right off my first thread I get this retarded comment!
I agree with you 100%. That guy sounds like a moron. If he doesn't have anything positive to say about the thread then he doesn't need to reply at all, PERIOD. He would fit right in PERFECTLY over at DSMTALK.com. Anyways... if it were me and I had a convertible I would probably lean torwards a 20g or bigger, It's not that a Big 16g couldn't do the job, because it can, if your like me your probably going to want even more power after you have it for awhile. I can pull on stock C5 vettes with the Big28 but I wished I had gone with a BR 20g or FP green to begin with. I'm still planning on some HKS 264/264 or 272 cams on down the road and more than likely I'm going to try out the new Zex wet nitrous kit that just came out awhile back and run a 55 shot to compliment the Big28 before I upgrade to a larger turbo. Good luck!!

And when I said "like" i was streaching it a bit theres more like 16-18 I think but thats not the point there are alot of special model's

Dude LOOK my friggin sig bro...
I know Vettes, I know F-bodies, I know mustangs, I'm unlike you who speculates about cars they have no Idea about. I dont have my A$$ so far up my DSM that I cant learn other Cars. Point is and there are only the models I listed on the other page. Z06, Coupe, Convertable, and Hardtop, period 2 engines LS1 and LS6, that is it for the C5 corvette. If you can count 20 you need to goto back to school, All I'm trying to say is post facts not fiction.

whatever.. go get a older issue of popular mechanics there is one in there a guy builds only so many a yr (forget how many) but they will top out at 220mph.. is that one in your list??? no didn't think so, sooo Mr. all knowing as i was saying there are alot of specialty models.. although i doubt anyone on here will ever roll up next to one.. but thats not my point.. anyway i could careless about your replys now and this is the last post on this thread i care to make im not pretty much craping on it just to tell you something and were not helping the guy that started it so cya

Cool dude because your the dumbest muther F$cker I've ever argued with. Lingenfelter Performance, get back to your magizines bro, because LPE is a tuner, unlike Saleen or Roush its not a car your going to EVER see at a DEALERSHIP so it is not a model, its a tuner car. So keep thinking your the man with all the answers

Beating a corvette is entirely possible with a 1g FWD, i beat one with my talon (sure it was a beat up early 70's model that didn't sound like it ran that well) but it gave me hope! that was relatively early in my car's mod list, so if you ask me, it's way possible - if i were you, i'd go with rebuilding the bottom end with strong rods, a balanced crank, get rid of the balance shafts and some tough ass pistons (JE happens to be my preference  ) from there a 16g with upped boost, fmic, injectors, pump, myabe a lightened flywheel... the list goes on and on

just start somewhere and keep working your way up and if worse comes to worst, i'll see if i can find that guy with the shitty beat up vette i raced, and i'll give 'em yer number :thumb:

I have no problem pulling past most corvettes out there... especially the older ones. The Z06's are somewhat scarry though, not sure how we'll i'd fair with one of those. To beat the standard corvette, you might want to size that turbo up a little bit bro ; )

I'm hoping an 18G with 550's through 550 injectors, MAFT and some good driving does it!!! If not soon as I build the exhaust with the Welder I got today, I think there should be no issue. I just finished porting everything and the talon should be back on her feet tonight. I'll let you know how she fairs up. FWIW: The talon was no contest on the highway before and I dont thing it will be now, but from a 20mph roll it should be pretty interesting.

This thread IS pretty silly since the poster never mentioned what vette he was wanting to beat. There are a ton of different older models. And C5's vary a lot between automatic and manula tranny cars, as well as Z06's. When I raced my friends who drive automatics (back when I was stock), I almost always put 5-10 cars on them. Also, the automatics with the 3.15 axle will be faster than the ones with a standard 2.73 axle. Lastly, all 2001 and newer C5's have a little more juice than 97-00 models.

As you can see, we need some details on the vette in question to answer this.

hey, dude. you seriously need to back off, this board is not meant for fighting and your foul mouth. you have no right calling anyone dumb, you stated that C4 vettes have an lt1,wich C4s? only 92-96 had the lt1 84-91 had an L98. you also state that the ls6 is just an LS1 with heads and a cam, what about the LS6 intake manifold? and you go and spit off models and don't even mention what was one of the most important cars in corvette history, the ZR-1 with the all aluminum lotus designed LT5. so get your shit straight and stop jumping all over my fellow board members, Mr. "i know corvettes".

Yeah ok bro, first I never even mentioned the C4 period... Seriously I posted on this thread because I thought I could help a guy out with his question since I own both cars and I know both cars very well. I wasnt giving any bullsh!t remarks like " Get a new car" etc...
I straightend out the facts between the different models of C5's. He didn't post, " What would I need to beat a 1975 Corvette" He generalized it, and the first thing that comes to mind is a current generation.

I'm done with this thread and threads like it for awhile now. It's obvious that you and and your friend have all the info on corvettes. I on the other hand have no idea about them, since I made the general comment about LS6's being heads and cam LS1's and didnt go into extreme detail about having a better intake manifold, which is a standard manifold on ALL 2001+ corvette's. I'm not sure where you got all the other BS your flaming me about like talking about the ZR1 and whatnot, my post was about c5's and c5's only so back off and get your sh!t straight.

Moderator lets close this huh? The original question was answered...

OK, this might be of decent reference. I ran pretty much even (won 2 of 3) in a trio of 40 roll-ons with a 1g last night running 30psi, race gas and no cats. He said he was mis-firing some and it may have been more equal to 27psi, but he was going for 30psi. Nice guy, we chatted a while after running.

I was in a stock C5 with manual tranny. My bolt-ons were off since I had it in for repairs last week.

Nice runs! Did the guy happen to say what kind of turbo that he was running. 27 to 30psi is an awful lot of boost to be running. I suspect either he was stupid or he had atleast some ARP head studs. The 4g63 head has been known to start lifting at around 25psi, although I have heard of people getting away with more boost with proper tuning. Nice runs again. C5's run strong from a roll especially compared to there much heavier little brother the SS camaro.

I don't speak DSM too well, so when he told me it didn't register. Sorry. I'm about 99.9999% sure he's on this board, and I was kinda hoping my post would lure him out. Anyway, he was a good guy and definitely not stupid (I think he works on Mitsu's for a living). I just happened to pull a U-turn into a pack of about 10 DSM's and after 2 did flyby's and the rest hit the brakes and back away from me he pulled right up and gave a good challenge...just to illustrate that he seemed like a straight-shooter. He hangs out with Ken and Fathouse from Indy, so I'm sure that we could find him if you're really curious.

Question, are there several turbos that can run that level of boost? What's the most you've seen run without extraordinary maintenance? We're going to meet back up in a couple of weeks and give it another go since he said he could have it running a little hotter then.

Yes... there are several turbos that can run those boost levels. The FP GREEN and the AGP L2R are just a few examples. There are plenty more out there but that is just an example of a couple from the top of my head. If he works on mitsu's, or works for Mitsu for a living then he is definitly not stupid. I don't know the fella so with that being said I really can't say he's stupid so I will re-frame from what I said about the stupid part. I just figured it was some young dude in his teeny bopper years. I'm 34 so maybe you can see where I'm coming from. Anyways... to be honest with you I have never personally witnessed with my own eyes anyone running over 25psi. I have read posts where people have run more, but the car is more than likely tuned to the max and running on the edge. If ARP head studs are installed along with some decent tuning then 25+psi should be no problem at all. The rods would be the next weak link if it is a 2g. 2g's are capable of supporting around 400whp, and 1g's are capable of supporting 450whp. The 1g's have beefier rods. I'm just curious to know if it was an awd, fwd, 1g, or 2g? I have pulled on a few C5's in the past with what mods that are in my profile and I'm just running 21psi. That's why it wrecks my mind that he was trying to run 27 to 30psi. If he was trying to run that much boost then he definitly has a monster of a turbo and more than likely a beast of a car. His car is definitly not running up to par if you pulled on him, especially with your car being stock. Don't take me wrong because I think stock C5's are beasts from the factory, and one of the best bang for the buck cars that are out there right now.

It was a tan 1g Talon Tsi. It was your typical scary DSM with a shitty paint job and a little rust but the engine bay sparkled.

I'm not sure if he was running lower and then cranked it just just for me, or what. I am 100% sure he said 30psi. He did also complain of some ignition issues, but I could not ascertain just how those came into play. And of course I didn't pick up what head studs he was running. He also said he's in the 11's and dyno'ed 415ish that morning. I have no doubts that I couldn't take him from a dig. Nonetheless, I've found the vette to be quite the equalizer once out on the highway. the DSM hung with me MUCH better than all the supercharged Mustangs I've run on the highway. (no, I haven't run an 03 yet)

I understand about you questioning the possible stupidity factor. I has a tendency to be somewhat pervasive when guys talk about their cars...LOL

I have an 18G going on my 91 TSi that should give my POS 00 Corvette a run for its money this week, I'll let you know

Hey I was just wondering how you decided to get a Corvette along with your dsm and them modify the dsm so it is as fast as the Vette... seems kinda weird to me. (i'm not making fun of you, it is an honest question):thumb:

I've got a taste for cool cars, check out my website. The DSM is actually my fiancee's daily driver, and since I am a speed freak, I of course have to modify anything I own. :) The talon is dirt cheap to modify compared to my vette.
