what to rebulid my 420a

hi i have a 1998 mitsu. eclipse rs n/t i want to do a rebuild an stay all motor (no turbo) i am completely clueless on what to get for my bottom half and my top half i have a good place to do it but dont know what to buy any one who has gone all motor or has good ideas please reply

what kind of rebuild are you trying to do? stock or with built internals?? what are your goals? we need more info..

yes more info Street/Strip, daily driver? i built a 420A with about 6000 and i still was not impressed with the all motor setup so i turbocharged it.

thank you very much for your quick reply i want a daily driver with about 160 -170 to the wheels and i am looking to do aftermarket internals like je or wisco but im am not really sure what i need to replace my motor currently has 78000 miles on it now any info would be great thank you again

your stock crank should be fine, you need new rod and main bearings, water pump, oil pump (just to be safe) eagle rods and your choice of wiseco or je pistons..

you want to go with a 10.5 comp piston.. any higher and you will have to use race gas..

thanks for the info i was also wondering if i needed new cams,lifters,and valves or any other parts cause i dont want to build some and have it affect something else i just want to replace everything necessary at once so i wont have to do it later what about a port and polish? thank you!

thanks for the advice but id rather stay all motor i know i wont get as much hp but im ok with that oddly enough anyways if any one else has any more suggestions that would be great thanks.

another thing is when i go to make a kit a ci motorsports there are things like .20mm and such like things what does that mean? thanks

well you might want to do some research first, it doesnt sound like you have done this before. you dont want to make a mistake when ordering parts.

there are dozens of threads on here that can help you understand what parts you need and what you really want out of your 420a.

just research and read about what other dsmers are doing before you jump into this..

I personally am doing an all motor build right now... check out my thread (my current rebuild) and hopefully that will help you out with what you need to know for the future.

fyi.. i am at about 2700 on my rebuild... (parts and labor)

I am planning on Rebuilding a 420A also, but not sure where to get a rebuild kit. Ebay seems to offer some pretty cheap ones. Are they complete kits or do will i need other parts? Im sure i will be in over my head before i start, so im looking for a book that has step by step walk through. Any help would be appreciated

Yes i did, but the price was a little out of my range. Was wondering about the ebay kits and if anyone has used one and or having problems. Also whether they have all the parts necessary for a complete rebuild.
