I have a 95 eclipse with the 420a motor. I want to run a high pressure turbo, with prob 32 psi. Can the block take it, and what parts ie, forged pistons, rods, do i need to get for the engine

good luck with running that much boost on a stock block. :thumb:

I would look into a SRT4 block, forged rods, forged pistons, see if there is a stronger crank available.

And yes to run anywhere near that boost you are gonna need forged rods and lower compression forged pistons.

on a stock set up you can only run about 8-10psi safely so your gonna need to do a pretty significant build in order for it to reliably handle 32 psi

okay, so do you think 25 psi would be okay on a stock block? cause i dont want to spend a ton of money on a stock block, but if i ran 25psi, do i need the portfuler thing or a new ecu and all?

25 probably isn't going to work out so great for you on a stock block.

And you will have to improve the fuel system, and find a way to tune.

:ohdamn::tease::banghead::banghead:

Look, you can run as much as boost as you want to. But your gonna brake shit. 12-15 is pushing it pretty hard. Your also gonna need tuning of some sort PERIOD.

Wide Band 02, SAFC at bare minimum. But I suggest something bigger like Megasquirt.

If you are running that much boost you are gonna need bigger injectors, or an extra injector controller, some way to get more fuel. A fuel pump rewire, or a walbro and an AFPR

everyone here is telling you 10 is the maximum without causing serious damage to the block, if you are serious about turboing that high you have to say at least 1200 for the engine rebuild, thats just lower end, then anywhere from 1500-3000 for turbo kit, depending on quality, and then anything else you are gonna need along the way, and megasquirt which is prob gonna run you 550. . . so remember that this isn't gonna be a walk in the park

there is actually a good write up on this site about building a turbo kit for under a grand, but i doubt with his inability to click the "search" button he wont even take time to look that up, all this information has been covered about a million times on this site.

people. it's not the pounds the kills the engine. its the CFM behind the pounds.

12lbs on a t-25, is way different than 12lbs on a hx52 (comparing the air that the turbo actually flows).

Now since we can't be jerks on here anymore, I will say this politely.

If you really want a performance mod that will increase your horsepower as well as force air into your engine. For the low price and one time offer price of $39.95, you can have 200 horses added and will be whooping up all day long on neons and cavaliers (at the track of course).

here's the link. Vortec Cyclone - Save Gas, Boost Horsepower

Just look up people with 420a and see what turbo setup they used so you can see what route you wanna go. Another option is to sell the nt and put it towards a Dsm equip with a 4g63t, which is a good option. For a little money u can easily modify a 4g63t to go very quick without any issue compared to modifying a 420a.

We're not going to put parts lists together for you. The parts you eventually choose will be unique to you and your car. Do a little legwork and research what you need to fulfill your goals.
