OK so I have like the Eagle Talons ever since I saw them, I have been trying to get a 91 isuzu impulse rs but since they are mega rare I havent had such luck. I have a friend who has a couple 91 tsi laying around, he wants to sell me his black 91 tsi, its in pretty good shape body and iterior wise, now what i dont know what to look for in the driverterrain, i know right now it needs a waterpump, thats nothin but what should i really look for in it, is there anyway to tell about crank walk w/ out pullin the tranny or anything, ill do a compression check and check the turbo. but as i said what else should i look into

how do i tell what engine i have, like an easy way to tell if i have a 6-bolt or something or do i just get the casting number

since it's a 91 and should have a 6bolt, its pretty rare to see crankwalk. My best advice would just to do a compression test, make sure tranny is good with little to no grinds, and check for little oil leaks. when checkin out the tranny, make sure you go through every gear and shift fast and slowly.

Make sure to check all fluids, Do a compression test, and check the turbo for shaft play.

Now, usually i wouldn't reply to this one but i'm only looking out for your own good.
I assume since you know that it needs a water pump that maybe its overheating? Ask him how many times he's overheated it and for how long. I'm not sure the exact time that makes the odds go up but if the heads warped i'd knock a few hundo off the asking price. I was in a situation not too long ago where my truck kept overheating and my dumba$s kept driving cus i needed to get to work while i diagnosed the problem. Well after i changed the cracked heads and the gaskets turned out...the block was cracked:mad: :notgood: I was FURIOUS. Anywho, be careful either way.:thumb:

Yeah I was thinking about the water pump too, he did say it overheated, he however didnt say howmany times. He has a couple of 91 tsi's so he probably just parked it till he could figure whats wrong, I do think since its runnin kinda rough the head gasket blew internally but im gonna check it out when i go and look at it, the compression test should let me know. I think it very well could have blown the head gasket becuase hes runnin 14psi and it overheated but well just have to see when i go and look at it,

what do you guys think is a resonable price for a 91 tsi that the body is in great shape and the interior is likewise but may have a blown hg and a bad water pump? I was think $750, his lil brother said he was askin $1000 before the waterpump went out, theres probably a secret in this car w/ that low of asking price when the cars in good shape elsewise.

He also awhile back when he was in a street race blew up the flywheel, it exploded and went through the belhousing, it since has had a new one installed along with a new tranny and clutch

I dont have a problem w/ changing a head gasket and a waterpump i just want to pay a reasonable price for it so let me know what you guys think. thanks Chance

BTW: What is the stock turbo on a manual 91 tsi? Its AWD if that matters.

Thanks for all the help. Yeah Ive seen that car before, i am a member of isuzone.org and i have a couple in the area but none w/ in my financial reach. But yeah they are cool, especaily the lotus handling, ive driven both modded tsi and modded rs and from what i can tell i prefer the RS way over the tsi but hey...

Well the car has tons of power, pushing close to 300hp w/ a t3/t4 has a dyno sheet of it from saturday, yesterday, the only weird thing is that there is absolutly no pressure in the #1 piston 0psi zilch nadda none, all the others are fine, what i dont understand is how could overheating do this and and ......

well ive found another tsi, the only thing w/ this one is that when you come to a stop sometimes the engine dies, what could cause the car to die when you come to a stop?

Probably a bad IAC (also known as ISC) Idle Air Control. It is located under the intake hose at the intake. Also can cause a bad idle surge, but have known them to cut out at stops too...

just curious what the psi to hp ratio is? like for every one pound of boost you get _+more hp
