What to do about exhaust, ticket for 2nd time today..

I just got my second ticket in a year and a half for a loud exhaust, and I'm up for inspection in a week or so (april), and inspection people don't want to pass my car because of the volume of the exhaust.

It's a bossal brospeed on my 97 nt. So basically, with 2 tickets, and the need to pass inspection coming up, it's about time I got a legal exhaust that nobody is going to give me trouble about.

The question is, what to do now? All I have now (for exhaust) is this muffler, so I doubt I'm even seeing any HP gains from it (it was on the car when I bought it, so I can't compare).

Should I just go to a muffler shop like midas/meineke and get a stock setup? Or can I get a legal catback that's not loud that will still pass inspection and not get me harassed by cops?

I live in MA btw, really strict emissions state, so...

DUDE houston is all over the emissions bandwagon now. They DYNO every car at 2 different speeds before they pass you.

Damn straight that I also have a house outside the county so any car that is actually on the road less than 60 days a year can be registered in another county. (race cars don't see the road alot so i will be good till they change that).

possible good news for dsmers in ohio and kentucky they are both talking about getting rid of emissions testing hopefully they will so you guys can your cars how you want and not how the state want

no the dyno doesn't work that way. They are just cheap dynos that add drag. All the speed and rpm readings are pretty much from the car (they may have a mph reading but that is about it).

Various spots, the first one was on the highway (i-91), and the second was on a street in my hometown, both staties

only staties seem to whack for it, but it's an annoyance either way.

Looked at he exhaust today while trying to figure out my options with the mechanic, and the tailpipe is PINCHED hardcore to weld the muffler on (the person who welded it did a really shitty job), so the consensu s is that putting a stock muffler on will GAIN horsepower.

Sounds like your problem is fixed then. That pinched muffler was probably making fart can sounds that got you pulled over.

ehh sorta, I still need to get a stock muffler and tailpipe (the way it's welded and pinched makes it hard to salvage anything).

Gonna be like $300, but w/e

just get a greddy evo cat back, problem solved. it gives you performance, its legal (i think), it sounds good, its not stock, and uh, it looks nice to.
