what should i do? (paint on my car)

Ok so i have 96 Elipse and its red the cars paint is good but the only part that is bad is the roof. the clear coat faded away and it feels like sand paper(rough). i really dont have money to a paint job. so i was thinking of maybe repainting just the roof the Oem red and then bluff out the whole car? ANy ideas?

Got pictures by chance?Is it horrible?Like you cant sand it down with a fine grit paper and clear coat over it.
Or id just get the paint and do something like this just till you get the money to respray the whole thing.

Try and spray it yourself if you want to learn something new... If the clearcoat is chipping then the paint under it is pretty much done for so just clearcoating over the current paint wouldn't look good and wouldn't last long.

I painted my 1g and it was a good experience, we don't have an expensive paint gun, just a cheap, HVLP gun that costed a little over $100. We bought the clearcoat, paint, and primer from my local auto body shop and it was a little over $300 for it all which is very reasonable. The only part that really takes time is sanding it down good, but even then once you know what your doing and why your doing it it doesn't take long at all. You could have your car with a professional looking paint job that would've costed a couple thousand from a body shop. Not to mention when people ask about it you can say yeah, I did that myself.
