Beaumont,
Okay, feedback for all the future questions:
Balance shaft belt went nuts, and the oil filter literally spun off during a run in with a Mustang SVT (Which I spanked anyway).
IMMEDIATELY shut down when the AutoMeter warning came on and pulled over. Put a new oil filter and oil on at site and started it up. Belt was squeeling like crazy. Embaressingly, the Mustang took me for the oil and filter.
You think this is a remove the balance shafts question? It's not.
I cut the belt off and took the car home, still plenty of power. Next day, replaced the balance shaft belt, and checked the shaft play and it turned decent enough. Started the car and SMOKE EVERYWHERE! Lots of squeeling and I shut down. Balance shaft bearing is froze. Screw it, cut the $16 belt off and left it, we could all use a little vibration for the ladies...
Changed my transmission, went Stage 2 clutch kit, replaced timing belt and belt adjuster, replaced even the valve cover bolts. Serious tapping in the valve cover!
Replaced the valve lashes with 2nd gen and then tried again. No inside warning lights, oil pressure is there, lashes are quiet as a sleeping baby, no leaks, timed correctly, tranny is solid for a launch.... and ........

Boost went from 16 to 4 or 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bishilvr mentioned the knock sensor, but I am out of state, and I forgot my cable, so I have no idea if that is skyrocketing! I am going Baton Rouge next weekend and we will datalog it there on a friends line. It drives like a 92 Automatic 1.8lt and I don't know where to go with this!

I am stuck in Texas! Well, it drives, and all... but I can't make this road trip unless I am racing... Shoot, I am thinking of racing a few 4cylinder automatic Mustangs to keep my moral up a little...

Any other ideas or a fix for temp to get me to my friend in Baton Rouge? My Dad is tired of me using his garage! Help me to help him!

Okay, I have it out. But before I put the stub shaft and everything back in... I ran into an issue, the front shaft did not "pop" loose when removing the plate... Do I HAVE to remove the front? I figured since it was so well in there and disabled, will it offset it any with it still there but the rear removed? I do not have the replacement bearing for it, and that can take 2 more days. I got everything else. I need this by tomorrow night, and can't wait on parts.

Removed the rear balance shaft and the power definately came up a little. Hitting about 8lb.s boost, but lagging a lot still like before. Did not fix it.
Update: So you know: Checked the timing twice and used Top Dead Center. Still tapping crazy! People heard the tapping from inside the house! Pulled the valve cover and checked there. At TDC, the intake cam is about 3/4 of the way around before they begin touching the lobes to the rocker, and the Exhaust cam lobes just finished at the rockers and is about 1/4 way past it. This is on #1 cylinder. Is this correct? All the bolts are torqued to spec, and turning the motor over without the plug wires results in no tapping. Only while engine is running, which leads me to believe that the valves are in fact NOT hitting the piston. Seems timed well. So with 2nd gen lifters in my 1st gen, could they just be bad? And would they be SOOO bad that the car lost all power?
Still at the same spot, square 1, and done more than the average person would with over a month now of down-time. PLEASE help me!

What does your oil pressure look like?

Have you checked the plugs? what do they look like. Did you pull the wires one at a time to see if the car is running on all 4 cylinders. how is the coolant level? Are you absolutely sure the timing marks all line up?

Okay, coolant level is good, oil pressure rose slightly after the elimination kit for the balance shaft. The timing marks are good with top dead center, except I am a little confused about the crank pulley. When put on it looked like it was way off on it's tick, but the timing tick behind it on the crank gear plate was good.
Also, I looked at the direction the lobes were turning... the intake cam has just passed the rocker and closed the intake valves, and the exhaust cam will open the exhaust valves first. Is that right?

Oh yeah, plugs are good and I am getting spark at each wire to the plug. Fuel is new (Again).

Okay, balance shaft elimination complete. 3rd revision lifters in. Timing good. No leaks that I have found yet. Upped the plug wires from my Accel 300+ Yellows to the Accel 300+ Black Race wires.
STILL tapping at #1, and no gain in power on boost. And the car feels really sluggish to get going, and has a serious delay in the RPMs coming back down.
At least I am upgrading in places.... hehe.
I am lost now.

Did you unload the lifters before you installed them? My car was ticking really bad so i rebuilt the head with 1mm oversized valves and was told to unload the lifters before installing them back on or else i was gonna have serious problems. Once everything was put back together there was no more lifter noise.

How do you unload the lifters, I think I put bad ones in. I'll be able to change these w/out having to take the cams out right.
=Jason-

Okay.... pulled the head with a little wear on the piston from previous tapping. Put it all back together and installed an oil pressure gauge on the head at the oil line to turbo to see if maybe the oil pressure was just low.
I guess it was okay... 45 at idle, and 60 on a short rev to 3000rpm. Should it be more? If not, then the oil pressure at the top of the head is good I guess...

No dice. Replaced the timing belt and tensioner pulley PLUS the tensioner adjuster, everything is timed right and stays that way.
No luck on it fixing the problems.... tapping at the valve cover, and serious loss of power....
Maybe this can help? dundundundundunduuunduuuundundundundun
Okay.... say that and you have the motor. What it is doing while running. And then get your friend to say tatatatatatatatatatata on top of it and that gives you the tapping.
NOW! Get a third friend to make the sound of a Honda trying to race.... weeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.... okay, now imagine that Honda has only made it to 4000rpm.... and you have my power loss.
Anybody? A month and a half and nothing has worked. Valve guides? Computer glitch? ANYTHING will do at this point. Tell me there is dog poop on the tire, and I will wash it off in the hopes the car runs right....

Compression test done about 5 minutes ago.....

Not good... valve guides and valves?
