Hey guys I've got a walbro 255 and pte 1000cc injectors, i have a vp dealer sort of near by but another shop that sells race gas is a but closer i dont really habe any experience with race gas at all.

Ive been told c16 would be a good choice but look at these.

http://www.proracingfuels.com/products/pro-racing-fuel/

Mark 5 or 6?
And I've heard when i upgrade to 2150s i should NOT RUN oxygenated gas. But I'm not sure if this applies to my pte1000s. Ive heard Q16(oxygenated) is the shit though. Is there any down side to leaded gas? Any I'll effects on an otherwise stock fuel system?

Ive ran a few gallons of straight toluene before and the car loved it.

I had a buddy run Q16 last season. Swears by it. Let him squeeze almost a second less off his 1/4 tuned for Q16. He was coming from E85. It's a shame he hasn't signed up on here. He's like an internet hermit or something. :idontknow:

We have run anything from 105 unleaded to 118 leaded fuel. From probably 10 different manufacturers. The car never really ran too much different from one type to the next. Running VP Q16 was one fuel where they car really did run different. It ran like a raped ape and smelled like peppermint. But the car will run well with any quality fuel. Just buy whatever you can find and afford and go with it. It is not rocket science. Most of those type of fuels are high quality and you have nothing to worry about.

We have also run E85, E98 and Methonal as well. Of course those change things, with Methonal being on a whole other level.

I run E85 but would like to switch to Methonal now that I run a mechnical fuel pump. Q16 is my favorite fuel though. Just hard to stomach the cost.

I'd like to get famier with non oxygenated fuels since when i upgrade injectors thats a :nono: thoughts on the link? C16, and leaded fuels?

Completely missed the 2150s. Saw race gas and Q16. Haha. Coincidentally I actually have a chart I came by of recommended fuels specifically for FICs 2150s. If I remember correctly its an internal seal in the injector that swells with oxygenated fuels. I have to see if I can dig up that chart. Recommended power levels and everything. Its probably on my laptop. :hmm:

Anyone have something similar for pte1000s too? I'll be running these for a little while until i scrape up the 750

I can't find it right now. C16 on average is around $10/gallon (or about $2.64/Liter) at 118 Octane.

The Mark 5 is around $2.15-$2.25/Liter @ 114 Octane.
Can't find much info on Mark 6 honestly.

Either of the two should honestly suit you depending on what your power goals are. I can't say I have too much experience with leaded fuels.

Called VP ontario and they have 5 galon drums and 55 galon drums of c 16, each 5 gal is 120 thats alot hahaha. Anyone on leaded gas please?

I dd some reading and apparently the only down sides in leaded fuels are
It's toxic
Ruins cat converters
Ruins o2
Sensors

I'm not worried
About any of those since I'm catless,
Have all my emissions stuff roved and can afford to replace my WB.
Any other I'll effects? Benefits?

If you're trying to go with the sleeper route, c16 (or any leaded fuel) is always a dead giveaway, the inside of the exhaust tip will turn white. Anyone who knows anything will know you're probably not someone to mess with.

This will be for track use, not worries about the sleeper look I'm covered on that

Main question is will the c16 (leaded non oxyginated) hurt anything in an oterwise stock fuel system, pte 1000's and wally 255

I'm race grade methanol injected with 93......

Yes you can run fuels with MTBE in them on your 1000s. I run q16 and swear by it. Another downfall it will evaporate over time. You also need to change your global
Fuel up 5% to get things lined up. It burns a tad leaner than c16.

E85: if you can count that as race gas... if its available where you live i would go that route

Not to derail the thread, but I'd suggest trying E85 before going crazy with race fuels. It's easily acquired and much cheaper than race fuel, but still allows for huge increases in boost and timing. Just something to consider.

Yeah i looked long & hard at the options as far as e85 vs race fuel & i choose e85. There is a pump locally & compared to race fuel its cheap.

Not avalible. Well vp has e 85 but nothing at the pump. Vp is over 45
Mins away the closest e85 pump is an hour. Otherwise i definitely would have considered ethinol.

Well depending on what you want to do, i know guys would buy two or 3 55gallon drums of e85 at a time & just take it to their house.

E85 is not readily available in Ontario, so setting your car up for it is not very practical up here.

We have always used race fuels and from our experience VP has been the best fuel in consistency and quality. Most of the time we opt for C16, it has treated us well and is the most available of the VP products in Canada. We have used Q16 on numerous occasions, but even though it allows for us to push the limits further, it is a "higher maintenance" fuel. Meaning it always needs to be fresh, it doesn't like being left in the car for any extended periods and if your mixing fuels, we have found it doesn't like to be mixed with anything else. C16 on the other hand mixes very well, some of our circuit customers (depending on power levels) do a 50 - 50 mix with 94 pump and get great results. Most Drag race customers use it straight, for obvious reasons.

Obviously, if your car is tuned for pump gas it is going to need re-mapping for race fuel. Not much point using it unless your going to properly tune for it.

If your car has to pass an e-test, running leaded race fuel even on an occasional basis will greatly reduce your ability to pass the test "legally". The engine and exhaust become completely contaminated and we have seen occasions when the e-test machine will just shut down during a test.

02 sensors (widebands) can and will fail when using race fuel, but not as often as most think. Over the course of a full season we will perhaps see two sensors fail. Also, we have found the closer you can have your sensor to the turbo the longer it will last. When we run the sensor 16" away from the turbo we went through numerous sensors, now it is positioned 6" from the turbo and rarely fails.

We have never seen any ill effects from injectors with any race fuel, (we use FIC "Bluemax" injectors). We do however have our injectors regularly cleaned and tested and never leave any race fuel in the car for a long period if the car is not being used.

The cost of race fuel is prohibitive to some, but I feel it's a small price to pay when you consider the bigger picture.

When you say we what shop do you work for? I have been leaning toward c16, i do daily drive my car but no emissions tests needed I'm still registered In washington :)

I use my wide band in the front o2 position and have found it does die 25% faster due to the heat cycling. But i don't mind.

I run 110 leaded (aloso on 1000cc) since its available locally for $8.26/gal at the pump...I'm spoiled :)

I'd be willing to bet you have a small municipal airport nearby? Get in friendly with someone who works there (or if you know a pilot) and you'll have access to 100LL (100 octane low lead) for about $5.50 per gallon.
