What powers up when the ignition is turned on ?

hey im currently looking for a line that powers up when the ignition is turned on so i can put my gauge wire to it, so it powers when i turn the car on. Anyone know were i can hook up for power Also im having a problem with the oil temp gauge were should i hook it up, since every other part touches metal i was thinkin of just sticking it up in the oil pan bolt but it will proble touch the metal.

ive got the back lighting being powered by the little cigerette LED light that turns on when you turn on the lights on inside, There are the 2 other wires that power the Cigerette lighter, does someone now which one is postive.

I have the ground for the gauges setup to my head unit i figured that would work, but what wire do i use for the cigerette lighter, the Wire colors are:

im not sure from memory on the color, but you should easly be able to tell what wire is +12v one of the 2 wires goes to the metal outer part of the lighter assembly , thats ground. Use the other

blue is power. Black is always ground.

However, you should really go out and spend the $3 on a current tester from your local auto DIY store. You'll use it at least a few times when doing your wiring... and its cheap.
