What motor?

Ok... I know a little about the gen 2 because I used to have one, but I just bought a 1st gen and I have no clue what motor is under the hood. It's a single cam and a buddy of mine told me it was 1.8? I would like to do a 4g63turbo conversion, but I need to know where to start. help please.

Just sell it and buy a cheap awd. You will save a lot of money and time.

If its SOHC its a 1.8. And it would be cheaper and faster to sell it and buy a turbo model, but thats up to you. As far as where to start, look for write-ups and what not to see if you really want to get involved with that kind of project.

Yeah, you just bought the slowest dsm ever built. You need to get a turbo model which has the 4g63 (fwd or awd is up to you).
You can't just swap motors that easily.

Yea... that's what I figured... I bought the car for a beater just to have something to drive, but the damn thing has like 214 thousand miles on it. I'm not really lookin for speed, all I want is a newer motor, and a little more power. I may look into just buying a GST though. Does anyone atleast know where I can find parts for this motor if I decide to keep it?
