what motor to use

I just bought a 92 Talon Tsi AWD and it was built in July of 92 so I believe it has a 7 bolt motor and I was wondering if anyone would recomend building this one or swapping in a 6 bolt motor. I know that crankwalk is more common in the second gen cars so im not sure if these ones are or not.

Mid April/ May was the cutoff date for 6 bolts in 92.

Worry about crankwalk when/if it even happens. Seeing as its a 92 it probably has high mileage and if it was going to happen, would have already. This is the #1 most ovverated DSM fear for many reasons I dont feel like explaining.

Do the usual maintenace and checks on your car first, then you can start the mods.

Good advice. Crankwalk is highly overrated these days. If it was going to walk it would have. I would build the motor you got. Only if it needs it. Perform the usual compression and boost leak tests and go from there. I have built 2 7 bolts and 1 6 bolt and prefer the 7 to the 6. If your car has anywhere near 100k miles crankwalk won't be an issue.

Thanks guys. The car has 129,xxx miles on it and runs like shit so I am going to rebuild with stronger internals so I can run higher boost rather than try to get it running the way it currently is. From what you have said I will just rebuild the 7 bolt. Thanks again for the input.
