just trying to get some ideas on what to get next....im looking to spend a little under....2,000$. Any unput is very much appreciated. haha and yes ive read the "staged upgrades" .just looking for more input. thanks

Do you have any tools to tune the car with? like a AFC or something along the lines of an AFC? If not...it should be your next thing for sure. And then a logger to go along with it. And that should be less then a grand and then you are free to do everything else.

Or do DSMLink for around $1000 + a few bucks depending on what you need (EX...a laptop for it) and still have enough money to do a better turbo with supporting mods for a grand.

Please tell me you forgot to list fuel pump? Ok. Fuel pump (255 plus fpr), Turbo (evo316g $500ish, or pte3051 $895ish), Upgrade your plug wires and some ngk plugs, short shifter...at that point you can chill and get on the brake upgrades. How is your suspension setup? Stock? Throw on some tokico illuminas and eibach prokits FTW. More performance..rebuilt throttlebodies.com 1g throttle body and port to gasket match intake manifold inlet. Very nice upgrade by the way... Good luck.

Don't need a piggyback or ECU mod until you go to larger injectors. Don't need larger injectors until you've pushed the fuel system to its max. Can't push the fuel system to its max at stock boost. So next mod is a MBC or EBC.

With $2k, I'd upgrade the turbo and exhaust mani. That'll cost you about $1k if you get an Evo3Big16g or FPB28 and go with a 2g ported mani. Bigger turbos will cost more and will probably be flanged differently for the exhaust mani and O2 housing, so it's hard to tell.

The specifics will depend on your goals. Turbo choice will matter if you're shooting for 300+hp, and that will control ex. mani and O2 housing options.

I could blab about various options depending on your goals, but I'll wait until you let me know what you plan on doing with your DSM.

OP said they have a MBC...

And i still say AFC + logger of some sort. If they are upping the boost level they need a way to make sure they ain't getting too much knock from running too lean. And also logging what else could be happening to them. And from there that will decide when they ain't getting as much boost at the high end, and then its turbo and Support mods.

Haha remember, its a DSM. Engine safety is first order. LOL

But yes you are right. The OP needs to specify what they want out of the car. (IE: drag, auto X, track, reliable DD, or a really fun DD) So to the OP please specify what you want out of it and where you would like to spend the money. (engine, suspension, ect)

Good call. I'm tired.:D

If they're running too lean, SAFC isn't going to help. You need to upgrade the fuel system in that case. He can get a logger (pocketlogger+PDA) for $150 which is a bit lower than a grand ;) and find out how high he can crank up the boost. That leaves $1850. SAFC is pointless if you don't have larger injectors, and larger injectors are pointless unless you have a turbo that can flow more, cool air than the stock fuel system can support. So a turbo (and possibly mani/o2 housing depending on the turbo) is the next step in my opinion. Picking one depends on his goals, though.

well im looking to get at the VERY most..400+hp out of my talon. haha and pretty much looking for a realiable yet fun DD. Rebuilding my engine and tranny was a learning exp, but not cheap LOL. i do all of my work so "shop costs" are irrelevant. No pump yet...doesnt seem to need a higher flowing one. As far as suspension/handling, its mint. I've redone everything, cv boots, joints, you name it. handles more then good enough for what i need. i was actually looking at a 20g, but if you think a big 16 would work for my HP goals thatd be even better. 02 housing is something i defeintly need. and yes ive got the ngk wires/copper plugs LOL.. any other input?

Very true indeed. But i believe that it is a great idea to get a AFC/Logger first before you blow all of your cash and then you cant drive it until you have something to tune with. Its like order of opperations (if anyone can actually remember that stuff from a long time ago for most :D ) You can't do *this* until you have done *that* or else the answer is all wrong.

I dont think there is any way you can get an big 16g to pump out 400 without blowing hot air and have it be a DD. 400+ is very hard to do on a DD (especially wallet wise...gas anyone?? LOL) For 400, you WILL need the 255, and a FRP. As well as some nice sized cams. This tho...is a lot easier if you plan on running meth or something like that and not race gas. So you can have some pretty high boost (where the big turbos like to be) and not get crazy knock with the timing you are running. Any opinions on Meth OP?
