What Mod Would You Do Next For More N/A Power?

The car is a 98 Eclipse N/A with a cold air intake, full exhaust (straight pipes), megan racing headers, MSD ignition, unorthordox racing pulley

I got about $300 - $400 to spend

In reality, you have done pretty much all you can with addons. If you are searching for more power then it would be into a small engine build or a turbo running 5-7PSI.

You may can piece together a turbo for around 600?

You could get a nitrous kit, and have some fun with it. Its the only other thing that you will feel a noticable gain from besides going turbo.

Ahh! Didn't think of that. 50 shot would be a fun toy to have at the strip.

The next step imo is going to be MSnS. If you are going to keep this car for a long time and are not looking to get another toy then go with EMS. Its useful from this point on, whether turbo/na/nitrous.

Mainly my car will stay stock, I want to build a 4g63 for some other application. I personally think it is not economical to build a 420A at this time. The modifications that are needed and budget that it would take doesn't sit well with me. I personally have started a fund in paypal that every time i sell something or get extra money every week, I put some back for either a car purchase (1g/2g 4g63) or a 4g63 hybrid build (corolla, 280Z, mustang, ranger, mighty max, EXC).

I don't know what's out for the 420a or non turbo 4g63. But higher compression ratio, cams, pnp head job and valve package will improve power. You'll need bigger injectors an a good tune. But I would not dd the car

If you go back to post number one you will see that the OP only has $300-$400 to spend. He is not looking to do a full build, just add some more power with bolt on's.

I'd look at reducing weight.

You could do a CF hood, hatch, etc.

You can also look at doing these like heat wraps and a airbox for your intake. You could even do a mild ram air set up for it.

For cheap you aren't going to add much more power. Honestly, saving weight will probably be much more noticeable.

Ok then a good tune or tires. Weight loss remove everything you can live with out and will not affect rigidity. won't be more power but will make you faster and most weight reduction will be free.

Do the jeep throttle body mod if you're interested in upgrading. Mine cost me 30 bucks to do, and was well worth it.

I personally dont feel a CF hood is worth it, unless you are putting lexan in it, for 90% of the hatch is window.

I'd have to agree. But it was the best thing I could come up with for a NT platform that would be cheap and easy to do.

Sure a 75 shot would be great, but this guy also daily drives this car and I don't see spraying as a daily thing for him when he wants a bit of fun on a high speed limit road or interstate or maybe even going onto a on ramp.

I'm just trying to think of something that would benefit him everyday. Plus how many people are willing to strip down their daily driver's interior? More people are willing to throw on some flashy CF that makes it a bit lighter as well. I also remember reading the stock hood is somewhere around 55 pounds, but most aftermarket quality CF hoods are 7-15.

I would have suggested a smaller battery but as a daily driver he may have issues starting his car if it's cold. We also don't know how much of a system he wants to run in his car or if he is willing to throw that out of the window either.

I guess he could try to find a used set of tires/rims that are lighter than what he has now for a bit of flash and weight reduction. Plus if the tires are better he has better grip.

I guess I should ask these simple questions, do you want the following?

- AC
- A system
- A stock looking body
- A stripped interior
- How long are you willing to have your DD down for
- Can you find a machine shop that does automtoive work (there are NONE in the area I live in, that is why I ask)
- Not so much do you want but, do you visit areas where cold cranking amps come into play enough to justify not having a small battery?

Oh and is your profile up to date?

I meant to put in my post that I dont think the hatch is worth it, I love my CF hood.

I have a odessy optima battery (10lbs) and have yet to have a problem starting in the dead of winter, good investment. And all weight shaving goes a long way in both speed, and saving on gas. Actualyl read an article in Men's Health about how every 100lbs you shave off is .06cents at the pump saved, not to mention rule of thumb is it eliminates a tenth of your 1/4 mile

spray a 75 shot. I had a rs back in the day with intake/exhaust/75 wet shot. I went 14.4@98 which was a big step up from stock LOL.

Thanks for your reply. I am considering adding nitrous right now, do you think it would be okay to Spray a 75 on a motor with 139,000 miles? or should I stick to a 50 just to be safe?

Start saving for Nitrous, or look into shedding weight.

I have enough to get this kit what do you all think about it??

NOS SNIPER 4 & 6 CYLINDER EFI WET NITROUS KIT UNIVERSAL | eBay

I would greatly appreciate some advice before I buy this off Ebay.

Before buying a kit from someone on ebay I would check into the Nitrous Outlet/Nitro Daves kits. They are top notch kits for a cheaper price, a lot of domestic guys run his kits, and I have run it with great success.:thumb:
