right now i got a stock 97 Gst and just wanna do a few mods to wake it up a little and i was just wondering what MBC i should go with ### some r like 20 bucks when others r 200 any help whould be appreciated

You shouldnt go with any manual BC. Get a Greddy Profec-B. Trust me, all you can do is set the boost on a manual. I can set when mine opens the wastegate, how fast it spools, warning settings, and it will lower the boost when i hit my warning settings. It sounds complicated but its simple. Trust me on this, i have videos of me and a friend racing. With me BC turned to 20, when its turned to stock, and when its unplugged. The difference is incredible. He has a manual BC btw and his is always set to 18

How much money do you have, and how much do you want to spend?
The 20 dollar ones are just as good as the big expensive ones.. Just make sure its ball and spring and not a bleeder valve.

I dont see why you would spend a lot on a MBC.. when they are almost all the same design internally, just some look pretier then others.

Or you can make your own

I have one of these home made ones (but i didnt make it, i bought it premade) and it works great (now... when i first bought it the spring popped out of palce and the mbc didnt work, i just opened it putt he spring the way it is supposed to be and all is fine)

A friend of mine just picked up a Turbosmart MBC and he likes it alot, Im planning on going with the same one. Its simple, you adjust the dial on the top and then tighten the screw so it cannot be tampered with.

Just make sure you do not tap the BOV line for the MBC :thumb:

If you are just looking to do "a few mods to wake it up a little" then you don't want to spend the big money for an electronic boost controller when you can spend a lot less on a manual one that does the same thing just without all of the bells and whistles. The Hallman MBC is said to be on of the best on the market. I had one and it works great. It just takes a little patience, just like any MBC to adjust. Plus with the money you save on a MBC you can buy more performance parts to "wake up" your GS-T.

Get a Hallman Es works like a charm you can get it on ebay for 30-40 dollars. Dont get no expensive one unless you have tons of money its not worth it.

Make your own, or get one on eBay. If you want a "brand name" one, get a Joe P. They're all the same, so just get the cheapest one.

A Joe P or Hallman. Both are great. Check out HKS EVC IV or V, they are great dual boost level controler, great for traction retard people:p. Lower level boost for 1st and 2nd, and a higher level for 3rd and 4th and 5th.

Buschur makes a great piece. It even mounts to the valve cover for a clean installation. I ran one for quite a while before going to an external gate for boost control, but I'd still recommend one.

I would go with a hallman or a joep and stay away from the ebay knockoffs. I tried the ebay route a couple of times and had problems with both. The design might be the same but spring tension and spring length is not up to par. The last one I got from ebay had a really weak spring in it and the highest it would boost is 19psi. That sucks because I run 25psi on pump gas and 30psi on race gas. I got smart and purchased a hallman es and all has been great since. If you want something that is cockpit adjustable, you can get a hallman evolution mbc which has an adjustment cable that runs into the passenger compartment for quick easy adjustment. I have seen them advertised in the $135-150 range.

if you are going to go on the make your own route then research the grainger valve boost controller. It is similar to the HPMBC by turboXS.
