Every Mitsubishi Engine I've came across doesnt look anything like mine.
The CamGears are on the left, and the Air Intake comes out to the right.
What kind of engine do I have?
Says Mitsubishi 2.0 DOHC.
They told me it's a GS.
What kind of engine is this???

Yours is a 2.0l 420a. It is completely backwards from the 2.0 4g63.

420a is non-turbo and the 4g63 is turbo. The turbo motor obviously has more hp and torque. But, the big difference, one is turbo and one is n/t.

The 420a is a mopar motor. They are used in neons and advengers also. You can find some cool stuff for it on www.2gnt.com and han race craft.

Actually the 1g's have a N/T 4g63. Not all are turbo.

He has a 95 though. I know that the 1g's are different, I was just stating it to his specific model. But thanks for the clarification! :thumb: :)

Do some searching on the 2g N/T forum to look into what it takes to put a turbo on the 420a. There are alot of people here who have done it sucessfully.

After a quick lil research...

420a, 4g63, 4g63t, and 4g64.

420a is made by chrysler?
140@6000 HP, 130@4800 TQ..
9.6:1
Diamond Star Reversed Flow Head..
2.0L DOHC I4

The 4g63 is 140HP. DOHC.

4g63t is the Turbo Application...
210HP.

4g64 is 141HP, SOHC for the spyder...

That's kinda disappointing.
Chrysler/Mopar engine in my mitsubishi.

Guess I'm doing a swap in a couple years.
I wonder how hard it is to fit a 4g63t into a 95 GS.

I think it would be TOO hard to switch it over to AWD...

Sh-t I should just buy a 99 GSX...LOL.

Yes, buy an awd turbo car, don't bother with all the custom work in making a 4g63 fit in your nt 2g.

Now that is a good example of the search button.LOL. Good job :thumb:

Kooltrix... I had a 1999 Eclipse GS with the 420a. It's not that bad. I was new to DSM's back then and didn't know much, but I learned. I did the same mods you have on your wish list i.e. headers, intake, exhaust, ect... I spent about $1500 on these mods and mustered a whopping 15 hp if I was lucky. That pleased my need for speed for about a week till I decided it was time for another mod. It seemed like nitrous would be my only option. I did more reading and research till I discovered HRC (Han Race Craft). I sold all my current bolt ons and saved up for the stage II kit with the large FMIC. I took my car to Extreme Motorsports for the install. They had my car for like 10 days it was the first 420a they had ever converted so it was a learning process for all of us. They put the car on the dyno after they were done and it hit 310hp to the wheels at 11 psi. The first time I drove the car I was like HOLY SH!!!!!!!!T. That was it I was hooked, my hobby turned into a obsession for boost. Save your dough for turbo.

I agree very much. Mopar or no. The 420a is a ballsie (sp?) engine that responds to forced induction very well. Me and a friend of mine turbocharged his 240sx (w/ the KA24E: 2.4L) instead of swapping the sr20 turbo engine (everyone says do it: it's a waste to turbo a KA). But for half the price and half the down time we had a 240sx beating sr20 swapped SXs at the track. The KA24 is overbuilt and responds to boost very well also. No matter what the brand, your 420a is not a weakness.

Hey thanks for sticking up for us n/t guys. all you haters can blow me. I've had 2 n/t cars and both i turboed and one i ran nitrous on for 2 yrs before the 420A gave up with 175k miles on it. i like to see some 4g63's in a 2nd gen last that long. i rather have my 420A turboed and reliable before a 4g63 2nd gen that i would have to rebuilt or replace because of crank walk. enough said. i'm done venting. :dsm:

Honestly...
I'm not too worried about it.
Nor am I even thinking about turbo yet until I'm done my CRX.
I'm going rare with a built up ZC DOHC non-vtec 1.6 to a 1.8L Possible turbo or ITB.
So when I'm done that project, then I'll move onto my eclipse.
One project at a time.
This eclipse is going to be all show, no go...but lots of sound...
love my music.
Then again...since im going rare in most of my cars...I guess I "should" stick with the 420a. Since most people are doing away with the 4g63, 4g63t's.
Thanx for the info and support and advice. stay kool. :thumb:

Off topic but do the zc. I did in my old rex. Crower rods(d16), aries 8.2:1 custom pistons, sleeved, deck plate (d16)welded and cooling holes enlarged, turbonetics to4e 54 trim with stage III turbine and .63a/r. Plenty more mods but finally, the car ran 12.20@ 119 with a dx tranny and slicks. If I remember correctly, that was at 17psi but it has been a while. On the 18's, it ran 13.30-13.50 babying it to keep from spinning.

if you wasnt a turbo the smartest thing you could do would be to buy the turbo model. nothing but problems that i have seen from putting a kit on the 420A

Thats not really bashing it, he obviously has no clue what a DSM is to begin with.
don't disagree with anything with this guy has to say or he'll give you - feedback because his a d***head. and think he has something because he has a 4g63 with maybe a boost controler as a mod. f*** this guy.

First of all, I never said anything bad about the 420a yet I got 4 pm's from people packed with curse words calling me a hater.
Second, I am not a moderator. It is impossible for me to give negative feedback to anyone. But thank you to whoever left the feedback comments on my account, once again packed with curse words.

Thanks to whoever left me this comment in my feedback
#### you just because you disagree with me doesn't give you the right to give me - feedback bi***

I didn't disagree with anyone in this thread but thanks for the feedback.
