Ok so taking one of my vaccuum lines off of this sensor it ended up breaking off just a little piece where the line goes into it. I just want to know what that actual sensor does and if it has anything to do with my random CEL light that came on for my EGR P0400. It is the sensor right next to the brake fluid container like the sensor that is on the firewall that sticks out farthest like a little box where 2 vaccuum lines go into it. Here is somewhat a pic of what I am talking about.....

purge control solenoid.

It controls an air connection between the evaporative emissions charcoal cannister and the intake system. The charcoal cannister is designed to absorb fuel vapours that come from the fuel tank for emissions purposes. The purge solenoid allows the ECU to connect the cannister to the engine intake - when connected, the gasoline vapours are drawn in to the engine and burned off. The solenoid is there so that the outlet from the cannister may be closed when the car is not running.

Nice! ^^ Those pictures are sick! Lol. I'm talking about the yellow one that messed up. Is it crucial to have the line on there perfectly? Like the left most hose that goes on that sensor came off and I just stuck like some plastic tube type thing in there and I stuck the hose on the plastic piece. I mean it was a quick fix but does it really affect anything huge on my car?

It looks like the fuel pressure regulator solenoid. It basically helps with cold starts. I just recently had to replace one of these. Cant really tell from the picture. Does the vacuum line start on the intake,go to the solenoid, and end on the fpr?
