What is this part next to the CV Joint?

I installed a new CV joint, and the driver axle, but i noticed this weird lever which i cannot seem to make connect to the yellow piece. What do i need to do to make them connect, because it hits sometimes as i drive...

Sway bar linkage aka stabilizer link. It will line up when both front wheels are at same height ie both wheels on ground or in air. In other words lift both front wheels, remove tire then replace linkage.

If I am seeing the picture clearly, I think it is broken. If the two ends visible in the picture you are trying to put together, I don't think you can. It is not supposed to come apart.
